Thank you so much everyone for your valuable feedback. I am now on the hunt for a cropped boxy type top to pair with my blue skirt.

I will shop my closet first though

I would go for a more fitted shirt for this skirt. Are you comfortable tucking in tops ?

Kaftan type would not work, think will be too bulky. Short -cropped and boxy-would be very trendy of course, but if you are not that inclined, a tailored tee with some stretch would go also. Besides white, I would seek rather for low contrast with the skirt-or maybe a print containing the color of the skirt in it? But if you are dark haired, you can try black, too-esp if having a graphic on the front in that blue or some silver?

Agree with Brooklyn here. That skirt needs a short top - cropped and boxy will work if you dont want to tuck. Apart from coral and orange, red and yellow would look good too.

I like the shape of #4 here on Angie's post: http://youlookfab.com/2011/02/.....-sweaters/

You can also use the guidelines here - http://youlookfab.com/2013/10/.....-pullover/

Hi Rubygirl. I would call that skirt a trumpet skirt rather than a tulip skirt. I think tulip skirts go out at the hip and then narrow at the knees. But what do I know :)

I like the tops that you have chosen but I am not sure whether they will work for that type of skirt. I think they might be too long. You will end up with just a small section of skirt between the end of the top and where the skirt flares out. I think you need to style it like a pencil skirt, with a slightly boxy or drapey top that ends above or on the hip. I would think a wrap top would work or something with a high-low hem. An asymmetrical top might work. You don't have to tuck any of these. Along the lines of the tops shown in this post by Angie (see link below).

In terms of colour, I think coral or anything in the orange family would work. White would be nice too.

I hope this helps!

I have this blue skirt I picked up a while ago at our local thrift store and have been looking for a top to style with it. I believe it is a tulip type skirt. I am not sure though. If anyone knows please let me know.

I could not get a good picture of the skirt so I found two skirts with a similar hemline and length as this one.

I have added a picture of my blue skirt to show the colour as best as I could get. It is picture #3.

What colour and style top should I get. I do not think I will be tucking the top in Any help would be appreciated.

All I have been able to find is a caftan type top in white or black. Photos of the two tops included as well as a shot of a model wearing the white one.

Thank you in advance :)
