Your question about matching hardware made me think about my love of matchy matchiness. I have vintage Coach bags dating back to the 80s. Back then, they only used brass hardware. Of course, back then I also had brown hair, and wore gold jewelry. Recently I’ve tried to tie in the bag hardware with other metal in my outfit by wearing a pair of two tone earrings or two tone pendant. Of course, there’s my navy leather jacket that I took a Sharpie to, to blot out the bright gold zipper. For me, I think it depends how in your face the hardware is, and how close together it is. The bags’ hardware is kind of dull, whereas the jacket zipper was very bright and shiny.
