Thanks Greyscale, J Crew does have some greenish blues that could work. Thanks, Kiwigal, it's nice also to hear from someone who was in the same situation. A two piece is a good idea, I'll have to ask about that.

I was a bridesmaid with a four week old baby. My sister just told me to wear what I liked so I purchased something two weeks out, to co-ordinate with my other sister who already had chosen a dress. I went shopping and made a decision in one hour because I had left my baby at home! I wore a two piece and chose a mushroom pink that was flattering to my dark under eye circles!!

If you choose a looser style it should be fine and you can always get it altered at the time.

Good luck, with tiny babies they don't mind where you are so it is easier than with an older baby!

I've always liked J Crew bridesmaid dresses. They have a peacock-ish color in their silk chiffon selections, but not exactly teal.

P.S. I started a pinterest board and my sister pinned a card that shows differing shades of teal she likes. That will help us stay in the preferred range.

Thank you, Pat. David's Bridal didn't have have teal but maybe they will towards the fall. I'll keep checking. Annabelle, she actually wants differing shades of teal, though I like your idea. At one wedding, I've seen the bridesmaids wear all different corals, and at another, all varieties of mint. It can look nice to wear different shades, it seems. We'll probably all wear the same shoes and of course have the same bouquets. Thank you, Joy, I'll have to check out EF more; this particular dress isn't dark enough, I think, but I really like the shape of it.

My DDIL did something similar with her bridesmaids and it turned out great. The girls did email photos of their choices to each other.
There is this Eileen Fisher dress, although it is sleeveless, that could meet your criteria.

I"m worried, on your sister's behalf, that the teals will be all sorts of colors. It's not like saying "everyone wear black," or "everyone wear their favorite jewel tone." I like Pat's idea of David's, where Sis can choose the exact color for you all, or having the dresses made, using her choice of fabric. This also solves the "no teal in stores" problem. My niece had her bridesmaids different style dresses all made.

It's a trick to be a nursing mum, though. It's good you already are exploring options. You might enjoy a two-piece dress with a looser or wrap top and then a slimmer fit jacket on top for the ceremony... something like that. It's going to be quite the trick to guess what size and shape your body will be only two weeks after a baby, even if this is your second or subsequent.

Would you want to consider a site like David's bridal? I'm not sure what the fabrics are like but they certainly have a huge selection! Another option would be to have a dress made for you. That's what I did when I got married and wanted a very simple silk dress. (Not what most people would consider very bridal....)

Hello Fabbers,

My lovely sister is getting married in the fall. Her requirements for our dresses are tea length, teal, and modest. She'd like all our dresses to be a different from each other. The dress can be sleeved or not, any fabrication really. (Except I personally don't want to do jersey or anything clingy, and I can't do a deep v or scoop in the back because I'll have to wear a nursing bra.) I'll be only a couple weeks postpartum at the time of the wedding. I've combed Nordstrom's, Macy's, Amazon, Anthropologie, Reiss, Reitman's, Penney's and others with not much luck yet, it seems teal is just not around this time of year. I'd love to find a teal dress with a handkerchief hem, in a chiffon or something flowy, possibly with details to help fit over and disguise a postpartum belly. (Normally I'm hour glass shaped with a very defined waist so I"m a bit thrown by needing to dress for such an occasion in a rather different shape!) Any ideas would be so welcome.
