I started with the whole Anastasia kit after getting my brows done by one of their people at Nordstrom. (Powder duo & brush, tweezers, highlighter pencil, brow gel, and I added the wax pencil.) After the wax pencil ran out, I didn't replenish it; the brow gel keeps my brows in place (and I have some wavy ones--I could trim them, but I'm a bit lazy for that, and they aren't unruly enough to bother me). I've since switched to Bobbi Brown's brow gel and a Chanel highlighter pencil, which I like better because they are a smaller tube and thinner pencil, respectively.

Joyce, I like the YSL pencils for the quality of the formulation and the colors. Uniformly perfect is not the look I'm after with brows, I think it makes them too dominant and unnatural looking. They're less prominent than they were when I was younger and I think that's more flattering to me now.

It's great that the combo powder worked for you, Vix. Thanks for sharing how you wear it.
I don't think I can go a shade lighter because my brows are black, not brown so the only option is the black shade.
Your instructions on how to apply it are helpful and are enticing me to get the powder combo as well.

I actually switched to the Anastasia 2-tone brow powder several months ago after years of using Laura Mercier's brow wax.

The powder doesn't smudge on me at all -- even during exercise -- but my skin is on the drier side.

One surprise to me is that despite my dark brown hair/brows, the MUA rec'd "Medium brown" for me (a combo of lighter and darker taupe-based browns). She demo'd using the lighter overall then dabbing the darker brown in a few spots, so I either do that or just the lighter shade. My trial of using the darker color overall led to a much harsher look so I scrapped that!

Good luck on the hunt!

Astrid recently started a thread on this topic here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....educate-me

There are a ton of much less expensive, but still effective products available. My experience is that while the Anastasia pencil is nice, there are cheaper options in lines like Milani, Sonia Kashuk etc. that are readily found in drug stores.

Rae recently blogged about an eyebrow expert who will provide feedback on where you need to fill in, and she recommends Tombow artists brush tipped pens which are available on Amazon and elsewhere. <I can't find the post now, but maybe somebody else bookmarked it?> The idea is that you have a range of colors representing your brow hairs and you only fill in where needed with the appropriate color. The key is to fill in with small strokes barely wider than a hair vs just coloring in the lines. If I find the post I'll come back. Meanwhile, here's a vid on inexpensive products. Sound down though, as she's a little over the top! https://youtu.be/O6VyJIpqcdc

I also second Angie's recommendation for the anatasia pencil. I've used it exclusively for a few years now, and always top it with Benefit's tinted Brow gel . It's a great combination that lasts pretty much all day. I've tried the pomade and couldn't get the right colour - my DD uses it to great success though on her much heavier and darker brows. The pomade is not for the faint of heart.

Thanks Janet. I must try the hairspray idea on my unruly eyebrows.
Anna, the powder did not smugde at all after a day's wear? Maybe I will look at what a make-up artist can suggest but I think some can be quite pushy and that is why I generally stay away from them.
My skin is too sensitive to take any chances with it. It's great to hear that the two color powder worked nicely for you.

I went a while ago to Sephora to figure out how to enhance my eyebrows. I talked to one of their make-up artists, not a regular sales person. You can get a free 15 minute consultation from a make-up artist.
She recommended the Anastasia wax pencil and her two tone powder. I find it works for a whole day a work. Plus she said with the two tone you fill in with different colors in different areas depending on the thickness of the hairs in the specific area.

Ditto to the pencil suggestion. I've tried Sephora, Rimmel and Anastasia pencils, and I like them all to varying degrees (the Sephora one is great, but it runs out too quickly!). I trim my eyebrows to keep longer/unruly ones tamed, but a little spritz of hairspray on a brow brush usually does the trick if one is really stubborn. :-)

ETA: I have only started using pencil on my brows in the last six months or so, and I'm by nature quite lazy when it comes to spending much time on makeup, so I like that the pencil takes almost no time at all and is one quick step (I only trim my brows every couple of weeks). They are naturally quite dark though, so I'm really just filling in small bits where the appearance is thinning a little, not looking for overall coverage. I think the ideal solution depends a bit on the color of your natural brows and what you're trying to accomplish with the products.

The wax pencil is all you need for control. I thought the powder looked strangely heavy handed even when I used very little, and made my brows stand out more than I like. For spot filling weaker areas with color I use a YSL pencil.

Do you know about the Clear wax pencil product from Anastasia that is supposed to tame crazy eyebrows?
I have a few unruly eyebrow hairs.

I would stick to the Anastasia pencil (I use that). Personally, I do not like the powder - yes - it smudges. Especially in the humid heat.

I need advice, I am looking at both the Anastasia eyebrow powder and the eyebrow pommade. My brows have good color so I do not need to dye them, I know the pommade can be used for graying brows.
The other option is the powder but my skin is on the oily side. Will it smudge?
What do you think I should start with, the powder or the pommade?
I have an upcoming wedding and I want to get my brows down to pat before the event. I would rather buy one and not both products so your advice will be highly appreciated.
