Difficult. I still love the plaid, style wise I'd go with the London Fog. But if you need the warmth a higher wool content would give you then I'd say get the second one.

I like the pattern on the London Fog and low contrast toggles but higher wool count of the Topshop coat would trump that. It's cute too.

Back again with the continued coat quest.

I have since also found the Topshop navy classic duffle coat which I ordered because it isn't carried in stores locally.

Now I need to decide. Sadly I love them both.
The main differences are that the London Fog one is more fitted and has less wool content.
The Topshop is 80% wool and is straight through the body. Very comfortable on.

Any wisdom on which one to keep?

Thanks ladies. I am going to go back and try it on with a sweater this weekend. Perhaps I will scout out a navy one for comparison. If brave, I will snap a few photos.

This is not puffer so it fills a different hole and it looks like you only have a grey peacoat now. I think plaid is fun option for winter coat and God knows we need fun in our long Canadian winter!
Go for it Glory!!!

Wow - what a young-looking and super fit 55y old you are!

I expected something much more extreme because of your question. Too young and trendy? Not at all! It is perfect and a really, really nice coat.

I like it, and don't see it as trendy or too young at all. A plaid duffle is a classic, no? I will add that my own experience with London Fog coats made for The Bay is that you're really only getting what you pay for. In other words, the fabric isn't top notch, and I've been lured into buying a few over the years because of the price, but have been disappointed in the wool blend quality. No sheen , softness or bulk in the yarn. That kind of thing matters to me in a winter coat, which is why I mention it . But style-wise - it's beautiful!

I think it's a classic that just happens to be trendy right now, and not too young. The color is deep and subdued with helps with longevity. I think if you love how it feels and looks on, go for it!

I'd do navy instead if you wanted that color family rather than the charcoal/black/gray family because of what you'd be wearing it with or to create more diversity in your coat colors, but having a patterned coat adds diversity too.

I totally love it! I'm a plaid fan as you know and this is a nice low key one. I also love that the sleeves are solid colored, it gives something of a mixed media vibe and makes it more interesting. Please buy.

This seems a moderate number of coats for living in a cold climate. A patterned coat sounds the perfect addition and definitely not too young.

I don't think it is too young or trendy.

Given your climate, go with what makes your heart sing. You will be wearing it a loooong time.

The nip is in the air and the northerners are hunting coats! I do have a couple (few) coats in rotation at the moment but am thinking of adding this one. Winter coats in rotation: silver short puffer, pink parka, black down parka (this is my hard core coat), grey peacoat. I know... it seems like loads but in my defence winter is starting now and the end is not anywhere in sight.
The link will take you to the black version but I am smitten with the plaid version. I have tried it on IRL and like it. I would have purchased it but need to go back with a sweater in hand to be sure of fit.
I need collective guidance -
is it too young for 55?
too trendy with the plaid?
would solid navy (not offered in this brand) be a better purchase?
Tell it to me straight ladies!
