The others have given great advice. I work in Human Resources so I've done a number of job fairs. Your pants and blouse are perfectly appropriate. Be outgoing and confident, give a nice handshake and big smile and they will be happy to talk to you- no jacket needed!

Good luck!

Great advice here - def. the smaller bag, smile and eye contact. A blazer won't make or break your image (and I've interviewed/hired a lot of people in my life). Don't worry, relax, be interested, ask questions about the companies and the specific work they do, and you'll be great!

Ramya - the button up shirt and grey trousers will work just fine. Your watch is lovely and a nice dressy touch. I would use the darker, smaller handbag. Smile, be confident, connect with people - that's what counts at a job fair.

I think the pants and shirt will work very well for the fair. I would go with the smaller bag and the black shoe. Do you have a belt you could add for the pants?Good luck at the fair!

I think either bag would be fine, but you might prefer the smaller one if it is the type of job fair where you go around to booths in a big conference hall. They can get crowded and you want to minimize whacking people with your bag. Um, not that I speak from experience or anything....

You'll do great. Your accessories look good to me. Can't tell size. I wouldn't wear as large a bag as in the photo with the Indians. You don't want to convey that you - a bitty thing - will have to struggle not to be eclipsed. OTOH, the world has been turning a long time and it isn't news to anyone that handsome folk start out with a foot in the door. So they'll reflexively believe that you're that much smarter, healthier, more able.... I say, let 'em.

Ramya, I've been to job fairs in the past, and I think that the pants and a button up will be perfect. I belive I wore a sweater and pants to one, and I didn't feel underdressed at all, some people were in jeans. Just look neat and pulled together and smile !! You'll dazzle them with your abilities. Good luck! x

Do you a nice looking but conservative leather handbag/laptop bag?
I would skip the tailored vest, did you have one, because they often read as sexy.

Ok I suddenly feel.. I donot have anything.. Guess this is what uprouting means :)
I mean back home in India salwar kameez, long Kurta legging, all these are formal wears and appropriate for interview :D
I am used to wearing formal pant and button ups but I guess I donot have any other layers in formal!!!

Not an expert at this, but do you have a lightweight jacket that can substitute for a blazer, something you won't be to warm wearing around all day? Like a mid length trench or a short jacket?

something like:

http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/334543
or
http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/314200

Plus they give you extra pockets to put business cards etc...

How about a conservative looking scarf, to be equivalent of male necktie.
Some people posit that a pair of conservative gold earrings are female authority symbols.
Nice watch?
Otherwise, smile - it's often about who they might be comfortable having lunch with in the executive dining room, etc. And convey interest in them. It's nice for them to have smart people - you! - take time to acknowledge/respect them by their attitudes. My best guess is that they often hate these affairs.
