Wow, what an amazing welcome! Thank you all very much for making me feel like part of the crew already!

Dixie: Yes indeed! I have begun rummaging through makeup I haven't worn in months because it made me feel too "over done". My favourite discovery has been that a little goes a long way now; a touch of mascara alone makes me feel more polished than full makeup did before, and all the lipsticks that were too dark to wear day-to-day suddenly look fresh and fun!

Beth Ann: It's amazing what a difference a change in hair makes! I think it's definitely what pulls any look together.

E: Another Eva! Hello! :)

alaskagirl: My wife is very happy to be a part of my style shift and we've had fun going through my clothes together and buying a few new things to fill the gaps in my wardrobe. She also made me book the appointment to cut my hair when I kept trying to put it off, hehe. As for pictures of looks I like, here is a Pinterest board I started the other week. There's not much on it yet but I plan to grow it! https://www.pinterest.com/EvaVrinda/style/

rachylou: I have lived in Sussex for about a year and a half and am quite evangelical about it - my (totally biased) opinion is that it is the nicest place anywhere in existence. Did you have family here or visit for other reasons?

DonnaF: My hair changing seems to have changed the way every item of clothing looks on me! Both in style and colour. Not having red hair anymore takes getting used to, but it turns out I like my natural hair colour, phew! No you mention it, I love grey/neutral floral prints - I shall have to keep an eye out for some! And I love coraly, peachy colours but the majority of my wardrobe is made up of cool colours and I sometimes struggle to find matching outfits for them. I like wearing them in the summer when I have fewer layers to match.

shevia: I love the hair you have in your photo, is that current? Lovely!

Welcome Eva! When I cut off my hair and stop coloring it, there was definitely a period of adjustment and a feeling I wanted to add something to my often androgynous outfits. You have come to a great place for inspiration and help!

Welcome Eva!!

I have swung from long to short hair several times, with it currently being more mid length. I do feel differently about outfits when my hair is short compared to when it is long. I am also not one for girly clothing, and I do love the Scandinavian look too. For me correct shaping is the key (ie striped tee but with the right neckline and hemline, classic blazer, making sure the fit in the shoulders is right).

I enjoy it here in the forum very much

Welcome! Isn't it amazing how a hairstyle change can make clothing different? And how removal of the henna can change what colors suit?

I don't do girly, but FWIW, I find that a touch of floral in non-feminine colors like gray or navy, or a feminine color like blush, coral, or peach but in an androgynous/masculine cut will give me the feminine edge I sometimes want.

Welcome! It's so nice that you introduced yourself. If we were neighbours I would've appreciated that. I'm not good at these things.

Of course femininity is something more deep, but while you get used to your new look, you can add a little bit of makeup and jewellery to look more feminine without changing the rest of your style.

That's what I do, usually, when I have a makeover. I put an extra effort in styling and makeup... And weeks later I'm used to it. Both ways are fun.

Hi all!

I'm Eva, I'm 29 and live in Sussex, UK with my beautiful wife Becca.

I just found this wonderful place this morning while looking for stylistic inspiration and fell in love straight away. So many lovely people with so much great advice and insight! After a couple hours of obsessively searching through archives I signed up, and here I am!

A bit about me:

My style history is pretty mish-mash, lots of jeans and t-shirts to get me by from day to day and plenty of buying things I hope will fit me, but often in conflicting styles.

My wife has impeccable taste and always manages to look effortlessly styled, no matter how casual the outfit. This has begun rubbing off on me and I've found myself wishing to be a lot more intentional in my appearance.

In February I cleared out bags and bags of clothes I was no longer sure of and I am now beginning again, this time trying to find out what is truly "me".

Last week I took the plunge and cut my below shoulder length curly hair to something a little longer than a pixie, removing all the red of the henna I've used since I was a teenager. My cut still needs a little tweaking (possibly slightly shorter to tidy it up), but now that I'm over the initial shock I can't imagine it any other way and am really loving suddenly being able to see my face and neck.

My current challenge (and what brought me here) is balancing my newly short hair with a clothing style that is equally me. Recently I have been increasingly comfortable in loose, understated outfits (my family keep calling it my Scandinavian style) with lots of lovely linens and drapey fabrics. No "girly" frills, ruffles, pink etc. I'm trying to keep the feminine edge that my long hair added to these outfits without adding fussiness to my clothing - although I have a feeling this will be less of a concern as I get more used to my hair and realise it wasn't just long hair that gave me my femininity.

But that's enough about me.

Looking forward to being a member of this site and getting to know you all!
