I wouldn't wear jeans and stillettos out-and-@bout though: There is just not enough stability on rough sidewalks and I don't see a soul wearing this type of thing. Add major foot surgery to that and I can no longer wear 3 inches and up heels. It is really hard to find 2.5/2.75 heels that look good with professional dresses and skirts. Also, I have to wear block heels now, I can't walk on the thinner heels without my ankle twisting. And bare legs are not allowed at work so I have to find closed toe pumps( thanks for setting me straight on the hose/open toe shoes Fabbers!) makes it really hard to find that balance. I spend a lot of time in front of the mirror deciding if it looks right or not. I read recently that single soled shoes are making a comeback. I have always preferred them over platforms. I think it is just what you like and what looks good on you. I made the same observation yesterday to an old college friend of mine. Knowing that I used to <i>always</i> wear heels (despite being quite tall to begin with), she said she didn't understand how I could still wear them because they are so uncomfortable on us older folks. At the time, we were sitting on a lawn waiting in the rain for fireworks to begin, so I was wearing flats sandals. But I noted that I still had my "good" heels from a few years ago. Only, I never wear them now, or buy new ones, because they just don't seem "modern" to me anymore. I do still love a lower (2") block heel, particularly on booties, sandals, loafers, even ankle-strap pumps. But, except maybe with some cocktail dresses, stilettos just don't look right to my eye.
