I have bunions so need a W/C or sometimes a WW/D at the forefront but have always had narrow heels even before the bunions. I have found that Ros Hommerson heels don't slip at the heel. In closed toe shoes, I am a 6.5 - 7, and in Ros Hommerson I am always a 7, even if I buy them in wide. Of course, you still have to watch the style so it doesn't cut across the bunion, so not all his shoes will fit or work.

If by *heels* you mean pumps, I think finding a fit will be almost as hard as finding a ballet flat. It took me at least a dozen Zappos returns to find the right Ros Hommersons, and what I ended up with are basic and not fashion forward. If I had my druthers, the shape of the heels on a number of my heeled shoes would be less dated...

Shooties, booties, and boots can stay on with a little heel slippage, so you can get height with those types of footwear. I was thinking that I was limited to W/C widths, but recently found Aldo and Chinese Laundry booties in medium widths that don't hurt my bunions, so now I have three pairs of booties for way less than the price of one pair of Munro booties. Of course, the quality isn't the same, but at this point I need the variety.

Have you heard about Caroline Macaron (www.carolinemacaron.com)? It's a French shoe brand that offers stylish shoes for women concerned by bunions. Hope this helps!

I can only tell you what works for me. I have those blankety-blank hereditary bunions, too. I now have to wear a D width to accomodate the bunions. Unfortunately, that means I can no longer wear pumps because they slip right off my feet. There are a few brands that are stylish and comfortable: Sofft, Softspots, Clarks. Most of the year I wear ankle boots instead of pumps, as I usually wear pants. For me, wearing shoes that are wide enough and that are made of soft leather is the best way to go. I also stick with a moderate heel (1.5 to 2.5 inches). I tried Rx orthotics for over a year, but they just made my entire body hurt, so I quit wearing them. Hope this helps!

Can't help as I have wide feet, but I feel you on the bunions. Hereditary here too. I honestly don't think any heels higher than two inches could ever be comfortable. The way heels shift all the weight to your bunions just cannot ever equate to comfort. My podiatrist has implored me to try not to wear heels more than once a month.

Just popping in to second Munro brand as they specialize in good fit--narrower heel than forefoot, multiple widths. I'd also recommend VanEli heels, very stylish with multiple widths. Reviews of the Undine style look promising with a few women mentioning they have wider forefoot due to bunions and narrower heel. http://www.zappos.com/vaneli-u.....ack-patent

Posting to commiserate also and see what suggestions folks have! Little did I know, I've a genetic pre-disposition to bunions. I had AA-width feet. Then I did ballet. So now I have narrow heels and am wide across. Terrible!

Just checked out Fidji, thanks. Love the tan, neutral looks. I actually just ordered a pair of Portlandia slingbacks in XW that not only have a heel but a removable insole. I own their Pace boots and really like them--they're about as stylish as you're going to get with foot problems/orthotics, etc.

I feel your pain! I have bunions too and avoided heels totally. Angie's recommendations led me to the Fidji brand, a 1 1/2 to 2 inch heel is the max for me but the hip styling keeps the frump factor at bay. Quite an investment, but worth every penny.

Angie, I've tried Trotters to no avail, but haven't had a go at Munro. Thanks for the suggestion--I'll look into it.

I don't have bunions but have a similar foot shape. I am curious to see what you find. Most of my shoes are the utilitarian variety and I don't own any heels. I dropped by to commiserate.

Thanks for the site, Isis. I've actually combed through her reviews, but haven't found something that I find flattering, fashionable and comfy. Many of the styles are either clogs or Mary Janes, and I was hoping for something that would help elongate the leg. Thanks, though!

Diss---I don't have personal experience with bunions, but check out the Barking Dog blog, a blog for people with problem feet:

Do a search on bunions and see if her suggestions will work for you.....Good luck!

Hi everybody,
Is anybody here with very severe bunions sporting fashionable AND comfy (a *must*) heels? The 2E heels made by Bella Vita and similar companies are made for wide feet overall and gel inserts can't correct the fit. Thanks!

p.s. The bunions are hereditary and I've spent my life avoiding heels like the plague.
