Angie - of course that is right. And what I should have done is what everyone here often says and worn it a bit around the house first, instead of out on the town!

I have heard about late afternoon being the best time to try on shoes - I am just trying to work out why they didn't slip off in the shops and that was the only thought I had

Actually, trying on shoes with tired feet is a good idea, Anne. I try to always do that.

Rotten luck that the shoes did not work out. I can offer an opinion about the aesthetic of a certain shoe but you are only judge for its comfort. Also, sometimes we get the best idea of how a shoe fits or doesn’t fit AFTER we’ve put it through its paces. Often thats too late. But I'm glad you’re getting loads of wear out of the other pair

Tam - thanks for remembering that I was hemming those clams - I am wearing them a great deal. Nice easy summer outfit (and the days that are not too hot)

I have come to the sad conclusion that it was a waste of money to buy these shoes. I tried putting the heel grips in and I am having the same problem of my foot slipping out.

The problem really is that the hard bit of the back of the shoe is not high enough on my heel. For those of you who wear orthotics, it is the same feeling you get when you put an orthotic in a normal shoe (without taking out an insole) - except I wasn't wearing my orthotics.

I wonder now if I allowed myself to get too persuaded by Angie's approval of these shoes to overlook fit issues (not helped by my final trying on being with feet that had 7 hours of shopping behind them). I am not blaming her, because if she had actually been there I am sure fit and comfort issues would have been paramount.

Anyway I hope to get a little wear out of these shoes for occassions when I don't walk much

On the upside I am getting heaps of wear out of these shoes

They have really filled a hole in my wardrobe

Trimming it sounds like a good idea. The shoes look great otherwise. I really like how you've hemmed the clamdiggers too!!

Anne -- when I use heels grips, I often trim them to fit the particular shoe. I think they come big as a standard size. So I don't think it's a problem if you trim them to make them fit.

Hi I am reposting this from my shoe woes thread

"Update here - I bought the metallic pair. They are reasonably comfortable and should do for a few months. Not a dream shoe, though.

I also bought another pair of heel grips, and here I am running into problems.
To refresh your memory, here are the shoes
http://www.betts.com.au/catalo.....LEO_1.aspx

There doesn't seem to be room at the back to put the grips in because of the sort of baggy bit at the back - if I just stuck them in straight I would stick them on the elastic
do I?
*cut the heel grips to fit
* not use the insole (I can already not use my orthotics as they are raise me way to high) "
