Caro - I had never thought of using those cold packs for that - thanks for the idea. Oh and Happy birthday (belated)

Deborah, sacrificing a little style for comfort is about accurate!! I know you struggle with this too. I think you mentioned having only one dress for this type of weather? I am only stylistically happy with 1 out of my 3 dresses ( though all have had YLF approval) but the others aren't too bad.

We had cooler weather today and I am expecting a much cooler night , which will really help as it will give the house a chance to cool down. We went out for a BBQ tonight and I discovered that the lady of the house had, like me, left the marital bed the previous night because we couldn't bear having another furnace of a person anywhere near us!

At least in the holidays you can sleep in. Heatwaves in school term are much worse, because it takes ages to get to sleep, and then you have to get up early and the kids get so tired (but not so bad as when you have daylight saving, which I adamantly oppose for this reason).

Have a lovely holiday with the family in Venus Bay Deb!!

Anne, I feel you! Our days are not quite as consistently hot as yours yet but it is certainly hot and uncomfortable. I went out on Sunday afternoon and bought some slouchy tshirts from Cotton On for my holiday wear. (I'm going to Venus Bay next week) and I'm on holiday from work all of Jan and struggle so much with casual hot weather clothing. In this weather dresses are the best! I have had to accept that I need to sacrifice a little style for comfort on these hot days. Having said that, a simple dress still looks more stylish than some of the hot weather ensembles I see on the streets of Bendigo. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family x

Sympathies. Do you have one of those hot/cold soft ice packs anne? I find putting one on the back of my neck cools me down quickly.

Yes Angie, for the first time in my life I chilled a jug of tea (with milk) in it in the morning and haven't boiled the kettle for tea all day. I am drinking a tonne of milk though. I am not sure this is the proper way to do it but it is getting me through!

If you don't have a/c, the breezy little frock is the only way to go in such heat. Iced-tea

Since I returned from the city on Saturday we have been living in heatwave conditions - nearly 40 C (over 100 F) maximums with warm nights (as I write at 10:50 it is still 31 (87 F) in my non air conditioned house.

At there times (and since Xmas, actually) I have been wearing my "hot summer capsule". It basically consists of 3 sleeveless dresses, plus one extra one that is only wearable in the house. If it is a tad cooler a few more dresses can come out to play ( like knit ones, or ones with a collar"

The forecast is for much cooler tomorrow and I can't wait!!! Will soon take my 4th cold (and brief )shower of the day - thanks to someone on YLF who suggested showering wearing underwear!
