Hi Vicki, yes Style Book is an app as well. I think it cost a couple of dollars. I am not really utilising it properly but I find it's a good way to store outfit picks. Lyn (on SYC) uses it extensively I think. You can also record your outfits on the calendar (you can then check what you wore on any given day) I tried a pile of books too but it was never successful. And yes, our Iphones are precious they need to be well cared for. Im in agreement, this is indeed a very unique and wonderful community of women and it's lovely to meet you. I am imaging a world wide Meet Up one day. xxx

If we're not involved in ourselves, who will be? Thanks for bringing these up, I was also wondering how to take a decent iphone shot!

Good job with the kitty photo!
Yes, it does feel a little self-involved, but look at it as art. The photography, the studying, the styling, it's all art! For me, it uses a part of my brain that needs an outlet, so that's MY excuse.

Oooh. Thank you so much for this post! I am still learning about photos, too, so I will go back and read the link soon. I don't have an iphone, alas, although gee...I see one on my wishlist....

Wow! Two new iPhone apps. Love it! I will look into Style Book and definitely get the Retouch app. Is Style Book an app, too? Thanks, Deborah, for sharing these along with the use of a music stand, which I have, and didn't even think of using. (Duh!) I'm learning how to play guitar (left-handed) and will use that.

That seems much better than balancing my phone on a pile of books, which is what I did. We don't want to hurt our iPhones. This is the most amazing group of women and I really hope to meet some of you down the road; that would be fun. Everyone is supportive and there are so many wonderful resources being shared. YLF is really a great online community of women and I agree about it being an extension of what brings us enjoyment and fun. So true.

Gorillacam and I are going to get very familiar with each other. I wish I had a personal assistant who could take photos when needed, but I don’t. Usually, it’s me and the cats and their fluffy paws aren’t iPhone compatible! Thanks so much for the hug, Angie. It was warmly received and I have one coming back to you!

Vicki I downloaded Gorillacam also and it's has made taking photos so much easier. I am a real novice when it comes to photography so the advice shared in the post was invaluable. I was originally getting Master 8 or my hubby to take photos but I felt a bit self conscious about it. Master 8 would have one eye on the shot and the other somewhere else so his pics were often blurry and unfocussed. Hubby's a perfectionist and his pics were great but mornings are busy and I didn't want to bother him. So now I use a music stand as a tripod and do most of my own pics. Funny thing is hubby seems disappointed that I don't need him to take the photos now :)

On another note, taking photos has really helped revolutionize my wardrobe. Seeing things as they "really" look is invaluable. I am actually keeping a collection (on Style Book) on my phone and iPad of my YLF approved outfits. I like to "mix and match" a lot and sometimes I forget a combination.

I am becoming less self conscious about the process and realize it is just an extension of the care I like to take in most other aspects of my life.... Oh, and it is fun too!

I also have a free App called "Retouch" which I use to enlarge and crop my pics for posting.

Thanks for this. I'm also experimenting with taking pictures. The in the mirror ones are too small and the other photos don't seem to have enough details on my shoes & bags & other accessories.

Heartfelt question on posting photos and then I found your heartfelt answers!

I’ve been struggling with posting photos on two fronts: One had to do with feeling a bit self-involved and the second was on technical issues like getting a good shot! So, I searched the forums on taking photos and then, Wow!, I found your excellent advice and information.

On the technical front, thanks rhubarbgirl (Laura) for the Gorillacam app for iPhone, with the self-timer. I just added it and this was one of my issues. I love taking photos of all kinds of things on my iPhone, yet when it comes to WIW and other YLF postings, I didn't want to be too self-absorbed and, while my husband doesn’t mind taking the occasional photo, he’s not always around or I feel a bit too “me-me-me” and I’d rather just take the photo myself. But, I don’t always have good results. That’s why this forum post Deborah started a month ago really helped. I also really appreciate Judy and Aida’s input on lighting, etc.

So, on an introspective and contemplative level, since I have fun with fashion, and now have the timer app on my iPhone, I think I’ve resolved my first concern. Hopefully, the more photos I post, the better the quality. Here’s Deborah’s forum post: “Tips on Taking Photos”
