I would get a second opinion and possibly a third. Maybe focus on supporting your immune system. I've read that vitamin C and folic acid are very important for this. Maybe ask your doctor if Lysine (amino acid) might help to kill back the virus?

I read some info. here from other people with this same diagnosis:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/H.....how/705774

Someone suggested this book:
"What Your Doctor May Not Tell you About HPV and Abnormal PAP Smears".

Maybe you can see a doctor that also practices naturoopathic medicine and maybe bio-identical hormones to at least get a different slant on this opinion before making a choice.

Best wishes and ((hugs)) to you.

siniestra, I'm so sorry you got such news. As for the treatment options, second opinion is always something I'd seek, you never know what can come out of that one. I personally have experience in what another doctor says, and how he/she says it, can completely change my view of things, my considerations of options and finally - the treatments available.

As for possibly not being pregnant again... focus on what you have. Love the child you have. Love the lovely, supportive husband you have. They are your blessings now, don't cry over what you don't or may not have. Take care of your health so you may be with them as long as possible. I can try to understand to how difficult it may be to think you'll not have another child of your own, but there are so many other options if you're willing to consider them, once you have energy to think of them. Love can be given and received in so many different ways, from so many sources.

I'm hoping for a lot of strength for you and a lot of supportive people who love you and who'll help you through this period of your life. You are so young, too young for such harsh realities, but I am sure you'll find a way to cope and to move on. Cry, be angry, but then also remember what you have right now - and that is already so much.

I am so sorry to read that you are dealing with this, and while I have no expertise or advice to offer, I am very glad to see replies from YLF'ers who seem to understand the goings-on and have useful information and advice to share.

In the meantime, I have a very good feeling that despite the news - you will get through this beautifully and end up healthier than ever. One of the reasons I think this is because you're very open to what's going on and this makes you receptive - and this is a good thing. It means you have faith, and this is a pretty big deal when it comes to moving forward, and healing. Just keep focusing on how great it will feel to have gotten past this, secure in the knowledge that you're ok.

Despite this news, you're already on the mend, because you know what's going on, and as a result - you can make better decisions, based on this new information. As stressful as it is, you're now ahead of the curve and onto the healing part - does that make sense? You're already getting better (even before any kind of treatment), because you're "on" it, and have a much better idea of what you're dealing with.

One foot in front of the other. You will get through this, and everything will be a whole lot better soon.

Hang in there. Just keep doing what you need to do. It'll all work out. This doesn't make it 'easy', but it does make it worth the effort - knowing how much better you'll feel once you've taken the steps you need to take in order to heal.

Best wishes for a wonderful recovery and healing process.

It was a good start to see an ob/gyn, however you definitely need a specialist in gynecological oncology. If you have a University hospital available, try to see a specialist there. The benefit of a hysterectomy is that you would likely be able to keep your ovaries. While it would still render you infertile, you would not be thrown into menopause at 24. Chemo, on the other hand, would likely so damage your ovaries as to render you infertile and begin menopause, and then there really is little purpose to keeping your uterus since you would be unable to get pregnant anyway.

The odds are very high that you will need a hysterectomy, but only you and a specialist can decide if it is worthwhile for you to try to carry one more pregnancy to term. If a specialist says you can manage the risk, you could schedule your hysterectomy at the same time as delivery. While there is a very high probability of CIN3 turning into cancer, it is generally not a very fast-moving one. If I were you, I would get a second opinion as quickly as possible, though.

Again, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I am dealing with something remotely similar, but my age and stage of family planning makes things entirely different. You will be in my thoughts.

I definitely agree about getting a second opinion, preferably from a gynecological oncologist. That individual will be able to tell you what the risks are if you wait, and how long you can safely wait before taking action. The opinion and results might be the same or worse, but never trust the opinion of one doctor alone. At the very least, there might be more options than you think as far as family planning and timeframe of treatment. I am so sorry you are going through this; just be sure to find out everything you possibly can before deciding on any treatment.

I just wanted to add - I'm not sure how it works in the US of A, maybe you can get the LEEP tissue to another pathologist? There could have also been an error in the read there, although it's usually a small margin of error (at least, here in Canada).

I have found that when talking to the docs for the other opinions, take somebody else with you that can gather all the information. I have a tendancy to 'shut down' with overwhelming information. The other person really helped.

CIN3 is definitely not good news, but the silver lining is that it is treatable. Whether or not you decided to go for a hysterectomy right away or not, will depend on your child planning. I don't know if your doc talked to you about other options as well, such as egg harvesting, if you were planning on having more children in the future the option would be there with a surrogate. I think speaking with the important people in your life is very important at this point in time, with medical advice.

I don't have any personal advice for you, as it's never really been my dream to have kids, but I"m sure a lot of the lovely ladies here will be able to share that perspective with you.

I'm so sorry things are going hard for you siniestra! I'm not sure I understand, what is LEEP - ectopic pregnancy? I think hysterectomy sounds extreme. Can you get a second opinion?

I can highly recommend going to a doctor who specializes in hormones. Our hormones control the health of all our cells, and when they get out of whack, which comes as a result of toxins in the environment, in the food we eat such as meat that has been given hormones, it makes our bodies have unexpected results. There are synthetic hormones which the body can't really deal with, and then there are "bioidentical" hormones, which means they are identical to what our bodies make. A doc who specializes in the bioidentical hormones would probably be able to give you a more hopeful outlook.
