It sounds like everyone is making an effort to be healthy and dealing with life's interruptions of those goals. I managed to get 2 long hikes and 2 weight sessions in last week and started out with one hike so far this week and weights later today. I don't own a scale so I always smile a little when I see people talk about 1 or 2 lbs. I think I'd drive myself crazy if I tracked my weight. I just judge myself by looking in the mirror and the fit of my clothes. Heck, just a salty diet one day can make you retain a pound of water. That said the last time I did get weighed I felt like it was the highest number I'd ever seen. (my doc assured me I was fine) Still.

I eat pretty well but could eat even healthier I suppose - I do love real butter. And fresh baked bread. That's my idea of "dessert."

I've been skipping snacks at night. I brush my teeth and use the waterpik shortly after dinner to discourage myself from eating anything else.

I hope to be a regular now that I bought a Fitbit. I really need to walk, a lot, to build up the bone that I lost in my back. And to just get back in general shape.

I had a good week. I did a short walkathon for my sister's hab center for disabled adults and I started walking both our dog and my mom's. I haven't been able to do it up til now because of the surgeries on my breast and the abdominal surgery. I am feeling so much stronger. I walked around 20miles in 5 days.

Next week, I commit to eating better.

Did you do the Cookling Light Healthy Habits for 2013 ? I think that I am going to try and implement on thing every two weeks. ( Since we are in Sept. and it started in January ! LOL )

I have to try and remind myself that being up a couple pounds is small potatoes (heh) when I do have my health.
The times when I was hospitalized or couldn't walk I don't want to revisit. Having a slightly snug waistband is much easier to deal with! That said, I do hope to settle in to a better fall routine.

I'm moving forward. Last week I saw the specialist in physical medicine. She prescribed a Lidoderm patch--something I've never heard of before. I tried a sample Saturday and I felt a lot better yesterday. You put the patch on the body part in pain (in my case the abdomen) and leave it on for 12 hours, then off for twelve. I hope this will work to interrupt the cycle of pain from the ab strain. (Four months now.) She also referred me to physical therapy and I have an appointment Thursday. Luckily for me the therapy place is in a new building only about a mile from where I live, and that will be easier on me.

Yesterday was a beautiful day (after a much-needed rainy Saturday) and DH and I did a brisk-two lap walk in our park. From our front door and to the park, 2 laps, and back is just a bit over a half-mile. Felt pretty good after. It's a start!

Woke up this morning with the return of the old pain, but the prescription is on its way to the pharmacy.

Weight up this weekend--so hard to lose, so quick to come back. I'm back on track though, and the physical therapy is the first step in finding out what is really going on.

Oh, and Anna, the idea of a "beer gut division" for a fun run sounds just awful. I realize it's probably all meant in fun, but it's just not fair to rank people in terms of weight when we all come in such widely varying heights and frames! You look amazing.

I've been pretty motivated to keep myself active by wearing the Fitbit -- on a mostly sedentary computer day, I'll look at the counter and make sure I escape the studio for a good walk, or go home and take the dogs for a walk. And I've been riding my bike a lot -- 3-4x a week, and at least 10 miles (usually 12-18) when I do. A little bit of running here and there -- not what I was doing pre-surgery, but I'm OK with that and enjoying the variety more than a running training schedule.

Eating-wise, I was doing well until my husband returned home a couple of day ago. Sigh. Dinner out, then the Renaissance Fair yesterday (apple cobbler with ice cream is my absolute favorite thing there!), and the boys and their friends came over last night and we ordered Chinese for everyone. The good thing yesterday is with all that walking at the Ren Fair, I logged 10K steps on the Fitbit without even thinking about it.

I will settle back into a healthier eating routine now that the weekend is over. I'd like to get rid of a few pounds even though it's not critical. I am not even entirely sure of what I weigh, but I'd like some of my fall/winter pants to fit a little looser.

It seems to have been a rough week for the group.

I have still been getting in my steps and golfing and have been tracking my food intake on myfitnesspal.com. I am a bit discouraged. I have only eaten over 1500 calories one day in a month and was only under my 10000 step goal one day and that was only by a few hundred. Most days I've been closer to 15000 and a few at near 20000. I weighed this morning and was up a pound. I am blaming it all on hormones and am going to try to persevere.

I now have my treadmill in place and put a TV in with netflix so I can watch a show while walking when it is too cold to go outside. I really want to be in better shape by the time I go away on January 1.

Not going well on the food front either, as outlined here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ith-eating

Last week I managed one 5k run on the treadmill, and one lack lustre weights session. I am REALLY unmotivated to do weights in my new (free, work gym) and miss the pump classes at my old one but don't think it is prudent to pay for extra ones at this point. I didn't take the next 3 lunchbreaks in order to take off time to watch my daughter's at their athletics carnival. I went iceskating for the first time in 20 years on the weekend and that was tiring enough for exercise for the weekend.

It's been about 4 or 5 months since I've weighed myself, couldn't get to the gym as often as I would like this week - so I walked about 1.5 hrs to the doctor's office (haha, oh boy - it was a lovely day) - and I probably wouldn't ever do that again, because it's through the bad part of town. That being said, there is an amazing vietnamese noodle place in the bad part of town :3 Only for lunches, and no suppers, I guess.

I have to size up a bit - getting a size 8 at H&M - and it didn't really bug me too much. I sort of made note of it, though. My boobage is the tricky area now.

Ugh, so much ugh. With all the extra call this summer my weight creeped up. Then there was the bacchanalia of the birthday weekend and it creeped up some more.
I was supposed to go hiking yesterday, but it was supposed to rain and I had a headache. So I didn't, turns out it didn't rain after all , and became a nice fall day.
So today I went to the gym. The local Oktoberfest was starting a 5K fun run right by my gym. I heard the announcements for the beer gut division. I am six pounds away from the woman's beer gut division. UGH!
So basically I need to buckle down on my food and try and get more exercise.

I had a little post-surgery bump in the road during the past week, but it seems to be largely resolved and I expect it to be completely resolved in the next few days. Unfortunately it did put the kibosh on my plan to start back with a couple of gentle trainer sessions. I have the fear of God put in me and will be staying out of the gym for another couple of weeks at least.

I have been walking everywhere, though -- the doctor, to meet friends for lunch, shopping. It's nice living in such a central location!

My weight is slowly going down, which I love. Hopefully it will go down faster when I'm able to exercise more.

K, my BF has migraines, too, and when his doctor remarked that most people don't have a daily headache he found that odd, because he has for so long. I feel badly for you both - such a bummer to deal with.
I have been up a couple pounds since getting to FL. Trying to get back down and have 1.5 pounds to go. Went running twice last week. Riding my bike every couple days to run errands also. I just need to get used to the lack of daily running around that my jobs provided, now that I am not working, and adjust accordingly.
The coming week, I'd like to continue running and biking and add in strength and/or yoga. My first goal is to get under 120.

Hi everyone. How has your week been?

I wasn't able to keep up with the video this week because I kept having pain in my hips. I think I should maybe try to wear shoes when I do it. Other than that, my goal is to keep up with my walking, yoga and try to meditate daily. I found out recently that I can't afford the botox :(, but my doc is super cool and suggested that we try trigger point injections. Oh my goodness! What a difference that has made. I still have the daily headaches, but they aren't as severe and aren't lasting for as long. It's strange not constantly having a headache. I love it, don't get me wrong, but I think I had forgotten what it felt like to have almost no pain.

What are you goals for the week?
