well my goal was to get to the gym 3 times for zumba and 2 times for treadmill running. I got there NOT a single time due to my youngest being too sick to leave at home.
On a super positive note - I am completely exhilarated by how few migraines I have had since my botox treatment started Dec 7. 4! I usually have 10 minimum per month.
Next up must focus on losing weight because I am feeling pretty yucky about myself. Haven't even shopped because of it.

So far my new year's resolution has been on a stand still. Coming back from Costa Rica has brought me a set of illnesses and no exercise. I finally ran 5 miles yesterday after 3 weeks. I surprised myself and am glad I haven't lost that much fitness, although I have gained a few pounds. UGH!! Good news is that I signed up for the Cherry Blossom 10-miler and that will be here in 10 weeks which will force me to run. Now I wish the weather would cooperate and stay in the 40s. Meanwhile, my eating is all over the place.

Another one who is doing well on exercise - not so well on eating!!
I have cycled into work both days so far and did a core stability class yesterday (today at lunch I'll do my fast 5km on the treadmill) Ran 8km on Sun morning - well ran some of it - I had to walk as well. I stupidly went out when it was too hot and ended up very thirsty and chafed.

Eating has been not great - too much yummy cheese from Christmas which will expire soon!! Plus one daughter made a dessert, one daughter cooked pasta - the excuses go on. Plus I have my gluten bucket list - the items I am eating now in case I can't get them if I have a positive result from my endoscopy. So about a pound over the top of my "range"

Hi everyone,

Thanks K!

I have been great on the exercise but terrible on the eating. Lots of stress and too many mini Reece's cups to count. Ughhhhhhh. You can't outrun (or outbike or outstep) a bad diet and my clothes are not just dryer tight. My goal is to start fresh tomorrow after Husband's birthday dinner tonight.

Hoping you all have a great week!

So far this year has been stressful and I'm trying to keep a positive outlook. Not doing well on weight, gain 2 pounds lose 2 and gain 2. Not my normal pattern once I get serious. Doing pretty well on exercises but need to keep walking. 2 1/2 weeks from now I must turn in my draft for the paper I will present. I think getting that done will help--it is going very slowly though.

@Amy - For me, it's more about controlling my reaction to whatever is causing me stress. I can't control when one of my bosses gives me an unreasonable deadline for my team. What I can control is remaining calm and telling myself that a) no one has been unhappy with my work and b) one of my other bosses thought that the deadline was unreasonable and told me he would go to bat for me. I'm trying to get out of the mindset form old job of "all or nothing." It's getting better, but it's still an battle some days.

@MaryK - I've heard of that. I'll start trying that. If nothing else, it's fun to look for pretty pictures.

@Mo - It's all about balance, isn't it. :)

@aquamarine - You're right, it's hard to shift from an all or nothing mentality. Good luck this week!

I did OK with both the exercise and the food until the weekend More icy weather and then football playoffs (and the snack foods I was expected to provide for the males in my life) did me in. I know a day or two shouldn't derail a good week, but it feels like that. For me it's all or nothing. Back on track today!

Hi. Coasting along. Run when the weather's good, not much else :/ I do some body weight exercises now and again but not anything I could call a routine. I'm doing fine, though.
Started this week with 6 miles of walking a festival this morning with BF. But will end today with pizza and our normal champagne Sunday. And that's okay. It's a balance. :)
Plan to run 3 times next week and one of them 4 or more miles instead of the same old 3 mile routine.

I found something super interesting on Facebook this week about sleep quality. I tried the thing about "looking for pretty pictures in your eyelids" and it was surprisingly effective. Also downloaded an app for my laptop that changes the colors on my computer from cooler to warmer as night falls. Interesting, anyway. Here it is: http://lifehacker.com/trying-t.....MelaniePin

In other news, I made it to three boot camps and one trainer session this week. I'll take it! And I am on a mission to learn how to cook the contents of my CSA veggie box. Last night I did curried spaghetti squash soup, and this morning I am doing broccoli fritters. Big fun!!

Thanks for keeping this up, K!

(What works for controlling stress levels?)

Sleep quality is huge for me, underlies everything else. When it's off, I get headaches, overeat, you name it. The past few nights, I've finally been getting my sleep back on track. The previous week, I'd had bf's cat at my place while he was away, and I made the mistake of letting her burrow in my bed bc my place stays pretty cool and I didn't want to turn the heat on. This lowered my total sleep as well as my sleep efficiency as measured by the FitBit.

I'm back in the rhythm of doing 25-minute Stairmaster sessions when I'm at bf's. That feels good! Nutrition-wise, just keeping an eye on things that affect my sleep, so not eating too late, or at least not overdoing fast carbs that cause me to overheat during the night.

Hi everyone! How was your week?

Some of my DF's family came up for a visit, so while I've still been getting some of my exercise in, I haven't been able to keep doing part of it. And we've made some... less than healthy choices. They'll be heading home tomorrow, so I can try to hit it hard until next weekend. Which happens to be the weekend both of our parents will be in town. Other than that, it's been pretty good. I'm getting much better with controlling my stress levels, which is helping keep the migraines and headaches at bay. Now if the sill weather would just cooperate with me. :)

What are your goals for the week?
