I could relate you ivorygorgon - I have just started cycling to and from work most days and I love it But it is only about 5 miles each way, and replaces 1/2 hr of walking a day (to the bus etc) AND I am getting so hungry that I am putting on weight. 1 kg in the last 4 days. Also it is PMT time which only adds to it AND I am somewhat stressed which has led to some comfort eating. At least the second 2 factors should be over in a few days

I haven't run yet this week, but will try to fit 2 in (3 is my aim). I did run to work last Fri, which was quite an effort, but we have had extremely hot weather over the weekend and running isn't sensible (it is harder to sleep well too).
I was really pleased last week to do 5km on the rolling hill workout on the treadmill in 29:10. I wish I could transfer that speed to running outdoors!

I have kick started my exercise routine again, which was on hiatus due to surgery and then the holidays. I have managed at least 30 minutes a day, and sometimes 60 if I break it up in two sessions. It helps that the holiday sweets are gone or frozen and the kids have returned to school and college. Much less temptation for me! I have also been under enormous stress due to the illness and then passing of a person close to me, and my blood pressure started to rise. I am young (enough) and not overweight so I was alarmed at my doctor's suggestion I may need meds if I didn't bring it down. I got serious about the DASH diet this week, and refocused on clean eating. I also started Yoga Nidra for relaxation and am really liking it. I just downloaded some sessions from iTunesU and do it at home.

As of the first of the year, DH and I upped our cycling mileage. What this also does is up my hunger! Still working on minimizing wheat, and I desperately need to get a handle on preparing more interesting dinners. My time is so limited! Weekends we do long rides, so not a lot if time for shopping or prep. Weekdays I work, then work out, so not a lot of time left there either. This is a constant struggle for me. I do think it would be great to find a CSA box that delivers, that would help a lot.

Working on getting back into my fitness routine. I went to my first pilates class in, oh, like a year, the other day, and spent a half hour on the dreadmill while I was there at the gym because the weather was so awful I could not bear to run outside. I had a good (chilly!) 22 mile bike ride today, so that was a step in the right direction too.

Eating is slowly getting back on track. Trying to lessen my sugar intake, which spiked over the holidays.

Small steps for me. I have been eating as consciously as possible. Managed to get into the rock gym twice this week. Doing the 30 day planking challenge. Drinking more water and remembering vitamins. I need to lose about 8 pounds but I am not making it a stress point - trying to focus instead on what I enjoy (skiing, climbing)...

Thanks ladies. I'm just going to keep reminding myself that this is for one day. And the courthouse is always an option. :)

@Celeste - If you figure out a good way to limit the junk, please let me know! I've learned I'm a stress eater, so I'm working on keeping all of it out of the house. It still somehow manages to still sneak in, though.

@Lyn - Yay!

@Mo - It's not silly at all! I know most of the country was colder than us, but even here in GA, we aren't prepared to handle this kind of cold. They cancelled grade schools in the counties all around me because most of the kids don't have the right kind of outwear for those conditions.

@Maryk - It does help to keep focusing on the positive. Have you checked out vegweb.com? They have a bunch of vegetarian and vegan recipes. There's also a great vegetarian/vegan restaurant in town called The Grit. They have a cookbook out and almost everything I've had there has been amazing.

@Anna - Good luck with your yoga class!

I went to gym both Saturday and Sunday, this weekend. I had planned to do a yoga class today but I misread the schedule, so I did a bunch of different cardio machines.
I hope to make to a mid week yoga class.
Eating, uh well, not so good.

LOL, "minor" wedding details! :)

I'm concentrating as hard as I can on eating up the whole contents of this week's veggie box before the next box shows up next Saturday. It's going to be a little challenging because I have lunch dates every day this week, but I'm going to give it my all! I'm off to a good start this weekend, anyway.

I missed a day at the gym last week because my trainer's wife had a baby! Yay!! Certainly worth giving up a trainer session!! This week the plan is at least five days at the gym, whether it be classes or trainer sessions.

And in mental health news, I am still feeling pretty peaceful despite the upcoming divorce proceedings. The video Angie shared has really stuck with me and I am really trying to look at the positive in my life, of which there is a lot.

Trying to figure out my new toy (a Garmin) motivated me to get out and do my cardio workouts, but I bailed on the weight training. The extreme cold just sucks energy. Masters swimming started this week, though. All in all, pretty good.

DH is out of town until Late Thursday, so I'm going to do vegetarian this week...yum! I love vegetarian, but DH is meat and potatoes. I do lots of veg and such as sides when he is around, but not as mains. I have a couple of 'magic' potatoes* that I want to use up.

*sweet potatoes.

Lol @ 'real' arms lyn!! Too funny.
I've been doing okay, but not great. Ran twice this week. A few push ups and sun salutations here and there. Sounds silly in light of the rest of the country (and Canada's) deep freeze, but the cold, grey start of the year, even for FL, had me hibernating.
Had a lowest weigh in since moving here, mostly due to my eating schedule. I'm still having wine most days and Taco Bell crunchy tacos a few times a week when BF comes home late from work with goodies. But the waiting 14 or more hours from dinner to breakfast is really working for me. I'm not going to question it. The fact that I can stick with it still almost 2 months after first trying it out is a big win right there.
And so I go forth. Enjoying things in moderation and trying to move most days. Just getting out and into the fresh air is good for the spirit, despite whether I'm running hard or just strolling to the store for bread or wine

@ K - All those wedding plans must be stressful, I didn't know there were so many details! Venue and date are probably the biggest decisions though, and hopefully it will all flow smoothly from there.

@ Celeste - Mmm, chocolate is so good, but good for you for having self control (which I really don't). Pilates have been recommended to me, but I haven't followed up on it quite yet.

For myself, I have been working out every second day, and someone at the mall asked me recently if my arms were "real" - uh, sure they are, and she was impressed that they were muscle. I can finally carry heavier loads than my sister who has always been fitter and stronger than me! Finally!

Hi K,

I hope you can find a way to enjoy planning your wedding. I remember the venue search well but not fondly. It all worked out in the end!

Thanks for kicking this thread off. It really helps me stay on track.

The past few days I have been on track and have not eaten so much chocolate. I'm feeling better already!

My goals are to limit the junk and add in the pilates. Yes--I missed last week.

Hi everyone! How was your week?

I really thought I had a handle on managing my stress, but I learned this past week that i still have a lot to learn. Between work not going well (a computer issue, not us) and trying to start nailing down a few minor wedding details, like venue and date, it was a little rough. My goal this week is to find a new relaxing mediation or something like that. Other than that, things are going well. I'm getting better with eating less junk at work! Yay! My goals for this week are the mediation and getting more walking in not that weather is much better.

What are your goals for the week?
