Anne we still eat dairy, so maybe that's Primal, not Paleo? I can't remember? I am thinking of eliminating it for a bit since I still have some digestive issues to work out, but DH and DS are good with it. And the baby of course needs milk. My older son eats what we eat while we're at home, but for school lunches I still make him a sandwich or wrap. So he is getting minimal grains. Oh and at breakfast he will eat some multigrain Cheerios or toast. I may convert him more later, but I'm experimenting on the adults for now. I don't give the baby a lot of grains, like those cereals and stuff. I prefer to just give him fruits, veg, and meats that I make at home, and of course his formula which will be milk in a few months. So for DH and I it's no grains at all, The kids it's minimal. My son is complaining that he doesn't get treats anymore, lol, there is almost nothing in our cupboards now, since everything fresh stays in the fridge or freezer. On a side note or rant, it is extremely difficult to find any sort of snack for a kids lunch with minimal processing and NO added sugar!

As for my running this week, it was my first week of 4 runs instead of 5. Yes I reduced my amount, and my long run was tonight and I have to say it felt great.....as far as long running can, lol. 13 miles and it was much easier than my half marathon of 2 years ago!

All the best to the HM contenders!!

Raisin. Do your kids to paleo too? I don't know I'd get by feeding kids without dairy and grains.

My exercise programme halted on wed, when I hurt myself at a pump class. Not, ironically, by lifting weights, but by just putting my leg down to lie down on the bench. Somehow I hurt it. I am feeling a fair bit better today (Sat) and hope to be back into it next week

Mo "real food" is MUCH better than any pre packaged food. We went all out Paleo here and I am eating a ton of meat, fat, oil, etc and not gaining at all. And running, less, I cut one run per week. I find I look more muscular. DH is losing some weight so far. The real food is keeping my energy in check and I'm not ravenous all day. I have a rant brewing about how hard it is to find "real food" these days, thank god we have a farmers market, but that's another story. You're in great shape, so if you're maintaining, be proud of yourself. Your job sounds like tough work! I have all day to do runs while on Mat leave. I literally go back to work the day after my marathon, and I can tell you, exercise will be going waaaayyy down!

I can't seem to get a workout routine going when I get back to work. Happens every time. I just have to fit in random planks here and there and a set on the home gym once a week. When I'm really motivated, I add one run a week on a day off. Just too tired on work days. I do carry 10 gallon buckets of ice up flights of stairs every shift, along with just the running around of a bar/restaurant, so I do get exercise on work days. That said, I am maintaining. I have been doing a fair job of keeping the food and drinks in moderation. And I am convinced that eating the 'real' food my BF has been making, even though it is high fat and calories, is much better for my body than prepared convenience 'foods' with all the additives.

Raisin - I'm supposed to taper next week and I didn't do my long run this past weekend so I'm overdo on a long run. I'm thinking of doing my last long run this Saturday, then break next weekend, and then the half marathon after that. My running history is 3 short runs and one long run a week, plus cross training via classes, weights, bicycling (although not so much these cold days). Thanks for your input.

Citiygirl, just wanted to say you should try to taper off a lot before you do the half. You don't need to run as much the last few weeks before a big run. Do runs, but don't do long ones. Just keep in the groove, but being over trained and tired is no good. Sorry if that was unwanted advice, I don't want to be bossy, and I don't know what kind of runner you are. Just thought it might be welcomed if you are feeling tired! Good luck on the half!!!! I ran one 2 years ago, and have the full coming up in May.

Can you say PLATEAU??? I've been exercising about 5-6x a week and haven't see much of a loss. In fact, I think I've gained and therefore I feel self conscious about posting outfits. I blame it on the cold weather and wine. I'm still training for my half marathon and have over 2 weeks left. Can't wait for this training to be over.

I didn't even update last week because both kids were so sick with the flu. My gosh, the vomiting memories are going to give me nightmares, lol! I did manage to run though, just not as much. And somehow managed not to get the flu....not sure how...

So back to running this week. I changed my schedule from 5 days per week to 4 because one run was really short, like 3-4 mi and I realized at this point in my marathon training and extra day off is worth more than that run. As long as my long runs go ok, I know I'm on target. And it gives my blisters a day to heal between runs. Ouch.

Amiable, walking the dog is already really good exercise. Did you ever consider taking up running or jogging? Also, I find a stationary bike is good if you can't get out and have little time. You can just do it in front of the tv at night. If you're hoping for some weight loss they do say it's about 80% what you eat and 20% exercise, which I think is true. I know cutting out sugar is very helpful, and you can cut carbs for fast weight loss. We've been eating Paleo here and it's doing wonders for my horrible digestion. No grains at all. DH is losing weight, and I'm not losing, and not trying, but feeling much better for energy, digestion, and being off the sugar energy roller coaster.

My aim for this week (2 runs, 2 spin classes and a pump class) has already been changed because my spin class this morning was full and I can only attend one more - so it will be 3 runs, 1 spin.

My runs are very short atm as I am just getting back to running after sore knees which are still there, a hiatus while starging work and a lazier summer than usual as I didn't switch to swimming to participate in a long ocean swimming race as I had previously done over the summers.

I have cinnamon porridge for breakfast very often too Jules ( like about 5 times a week!) I LOVE porridge!

I am about 1-2 pounds off the bottom of what I consider my range and would like to get there soon. I did read a Runner's world article on running weights which may have suggested that another couple of pounds lower than that may be advantageous but I'll just wait and see what I can manage.

My sensible eating plan (mainly portion control and cutting down on sugar) is going well.

I'm noticing myself develop a tummy, and wishing I could motivate myself to work out (or eat less, maybe?) Any tips? Any favorite ways to work out for someone who hates to spend time in something the feels useless? I know the battle is mostly mental, and I'm losing it. (the battle, not my mind.... at least, I hope!)

(I do walk the dog for 30-45 minutes every day, and chase kids three days a week - but those hardly count as exercise, I don't think)

I'm trying to keep going, but it's been tough. We've had rain and overcast days for the past 2 weeks. I think I'm one of those people who needs to see the sun more often than the once a week.

I think I'm maintaining for the most part. I'm still trying to lose an inch or two off my waist, but it's not budging. I've been reminding myself that even when I was at my thinnest (about 30 lbs lighter), I've always had a pooch. I think that may be due to the large amount of prednisone I took as a child. I'm starting to wonder if I should just embrace my pooch and get rid of the clothes I'm using to motivate myself to lose it.
