I have to get back on truck for my half marathon training starting today, well maybe tomorrow since it's sleeting out. I'm so behind but think I can catch up to where I should be in my training.

Thanks so much, I'm going to check these out.

Sorry to hear you've been unwell. The nurse at my doc's office said there is a really nasty bug out there, hopefully you got a mild dose. Take care.

Freckles -- there are several different types, and they are not cheap, but really help with standing comfort. Here is some more info: http://www.thekitchn.com/gel-k.....ort-110527 I know I have seen them at Costco every now and then.

My good intentions for this week were laid low by a nasty flu-like cold that seems to be going around. Bed-rest, chicken soup, and a little bit of web browsing for me.

Laurinda these gel pads sound marvelous, maybe it would work by the kitchen main prep counter. Would you happen to have any info on them handy?

I am declaring a huge win because I ate and drank whatever I wanted on my 3-week vacation and came home and found my weight was down 1.5 pounds! Yay!! Still closer to the top of my goal range than I prefer, but I'll certainly take it! I attribute my success to the approximately one million steep stone steps I climbed at all those shrines and temples and castles and caves and mountains all over Asia!!

Honestly... it was great! It was a "go go go" vacation and I was walking (and climbing all those steps!) most of the day almost every day. It felt great to be up to the task!

Now that I am home, I'm planning on resuming my low-fat vegan regimine the very minute Christmas is over.

I'm spending a few days at the parents, so no running or much exercise for me at least until Thursday or Friday. That's ok though, we all seem to be in the midst of some sort of illness. DS still feeling sick from his sore throat, baby is sleeping alll day so I'm guessing he's a bit under the weather, and me I'm still just trying to get rid of that stomach bug, it seems to linger. So I think R&R will be good for all or us. DH of course is never sick, lucky bugger!

When I get back home next week I want to plan out my marathon training for the next 4 months. I'm thinking a standard 16 week plan will be good. So I'm going to enjoy these last few days of lounging around!

Hi Freckles,
Speaking for myself, I am an ongoing project so my plan changes on a weekly basis ;-).

Back issues can make everything so tough! I have a taller stool I sit on while doing dishes or counterwork when my back gets fussy. When I am doing lab benchwork I find that a gel pad to stand on is really helpful.

Started two new exercises in physio the Friday before last and they are going okay. Still doing every second day but may add one of them to daily instead, will see how things go. The plan is in a sort of flux with all the holiday shopping and outings.

My husband and son browbeat me into doing them one night when I was exhausted and one of them made my back feel so much better, a real aha moment for me.

Sounds like you ladies are doing really well and have a plan in place.

Have been trying to do dinner prep throughout the day so it's not as hard on my back and roasting the meat so no standing at the stove doing a stir-fry or pasta sauce at the last minute and it seems to be going well. I'm losing the nutrition peeling the potatoes early and leaving them soaking in water but I'm not going to worry about that throughout the holiday period.

Started work officially today and remember how tired I really am after a busy shift. Leads to no formal exercise and choosing the easiest food around. Will have to pay attention and make good choices on my days off to balance that. At least work is exercise

I've done well with the parties & dinners - maintained my weight so I'm feeling pretty good.
We are having a seafood salad but the alcohol & dessert are a worry:) I won't limit what I eat for one day. I'll just remind myself I don't like to feel too full.

No holiday break for me. I am hosting a couple family dinners, and just stocked up on lots of fresh produce to cut up and replace the usual cookie and candy nibbles. We will have a couple special treats, but mostly will stay on plan.
