Hi all. I've been doing fairly well in terms of exercise but once again the scale does not want to go down.

My schedule has been 3 days of cardio and 2 days of strength training with some short runs. I'm hoping I'll see a difference but I know what my problem is and that is my food intake. If I can control that, then I'm sure i'll see a considerable difference.

lyn*, I am up in weight too. It's hard to fight those ingrained thoughts that up = bad and down = good. But you are obviously stronger, and actually smaller by 1/2 inch. Nobody is coming over to pick you up and then say, 'yep, you are heavier.' ;) They might, however, notice that you are smaller

Down another 1/2 inch, but the scale keeps on going up. It's frustrating, but I feel stronger ... and that's more important than gaining 15 lbs in 6 months, right?

Still hitting lower numbers on the scale, and got out for walks every day. The weekend was not good food-wise, so I'm getting back on track for this week. Overall, I'm happy with my progress.

Gardenchick, I am very impresses with a 6 mile hilly run!! And tell me more about a cardio Sculpt class?

I just did my second ever 5km in (just) under 25 minutes on the treadmill, which I am pretty happy about, since I had a bit of a runny nose as well, and felt like I wasn't quite giving it 100 %

Let's see--went running 3x this week as usual. This morning we did a 6 mile hilly run which felt challenging, in a good way.
Went to the gym for a cardio-sculpt class on Thurs. This week I plan to get there 2x.
What I would like to do would be to eat less sugary stuff, and be more mindful about eating. I tend to get very snacky throughout the day.

Good workout everyone!

I made my 3 runs last week, including one 8km that is the longest run I have done for some months. DD10 came along with me on her new (for her) bike and loved it, and I think it pushed me a little faster for have her there. Now the other girls are clamouring to come out with me too! This is going to be hard however, as the mornings are getting dark.

I got to the gym for one weights session, but had a slightly sore back and so skipped the second one. I got inspired by a friend who is dead lifting 60kg (1 to 3 reps) at Cross Fit. I do 15kg (mulitple reps) though could do more now I have worked out that I can add weights to the bar once I have got it down from the rack!

Quick update: I did 2 chin ups with only 15 lb counter balance today. I might make a full unassisted one on my own before I know it. Awesome!! It's one thing to make a certain number on the scale, and a whole different, empowering, thing to achieve a heretofore unachievable feat!

No wet noodles here! Just do what you can!! It's a marathon, not a sprint!

I had a decent week. Made it to the gym four times -- two trainer sessions and two boot camp classes. That was all I could muster with the situation with my mom in the hospital so I'm giving myself a gold star anyway.

Eating has been better and the scale is finally cooperating. I made it through the whole week without once seeing the super-danger-red-flashing-light number that had been making sporadic appearances, so that was good. Today it was even below my normal no-higher-than number, which was super great.

And in other news, I signed up for a 5K run/walk in August! Gah! I am not a runner so this is WAY out of my comfort zone! But I joined a team of people from my gym and they swear I can run/walk and I will live to tell the tale! LOL

The coming week I'm shooting for 5 days at the gym, and continuing to do well with the eating.

Six days good, one not so much. Six days w/out wine, but a friend of DH offered to sell him tickets to last night's hockey play off game. I told him that he probably knew at least two dozen guys who would love to go, but he wanted me. We ate at the Arena and I decided I wouldn't make it through the game without a little help, so I had some wine. Back on the wagon today. (Sharks lost miserably, 0-3.)

Good news is that yesterday I weighed in at the same weight I did in mid-October just before the cruise. First time since then.

Careful about eating otherwise and exercises went well. I found a new to me triceps exercise and the first few times I tried it I could really feel it in the triceps. Dip kicks:
http://www.latimes.com/health/.....z306rZbZFs

This week I keep up with the routine, no more wine, and keep trying to do those dip kicks correctly. It's predicted to be very warm by mid-week and sleeveless tops will be reappearing. And I think by mid-week I can fit into last summer's jeans.

Please don't get out the wet noodle yet.

Interested to hear about the ankle exercises.
I had a good week, workout wise. Took Thursday off after the IPL but got in my training for the week, minus one swim workout but did a run in it's place. The pizza I ate over the last few days didn't do my belly bloat any favors, but it's gone and this is going to be a pizza free week!
This week is 13 weeks out from the tri, and training needs to be steady and regular from here on out. I have my birthday in just over 2 weeks, so I expect to take time away then, so I need to be by the book now. That starts with weights at the gym in about an hour!

Hi everyone! How was last week?

Mine went pretty well. I'm not feeling quite as blah as I was and I was able to get 4 workouts in. And I'm super excited that i found a workout that's suppose to help strengthen ankles. It's geared towards runners, but considering how my ankles like to roll when I walk (or sprint), I think it will help me.

My goals for this week are to add a few of the ankle exercises to my normal routine. I also have not been as good about trying to stay calm as I would like to, so it's back to working on my anxiety with mediation.

What are your goals for the week?
