As usual I'm late in replying. I've began my personal training 2x a week and with the usual 3x a week cardio run thrown in. Since I was out on travel this past weekend, I have a lot of catching up to do. Next week will be a little different. Looks like everyone is doing well.

Weight is a different story. I lost one pound event though I was expecting more. Hey, a loss is a loss, right? :)

Amicable - I crave sweets a lot more in the second half of my monthly cycle - do you find that as well as the tired factor?

Dianne Mae - I am not a Catholic, but I will be going to church on Fri and Sun and also am looking forward to 4 days holiday. I plan to both sleep in and exercise though because being on holiday means I can do both!

I am logging back in to say I have just completed on my my mini personal goals - to run 5km in less than 25 minutes. It was on the treadmill (on 1 degree incline) but I am still pleased!

Wow...reading everyone's goals sure motivated me to actually think about my goal for this week. Hmmm.., I am a Catholic and this week, we are observing Holy Week (anyone out here a Catholic, too?) and I am looking forward to it because that means 4 days of HOLIDAY! YAY! Capitalized that because I barely get a day off from my almost 12-13 hours a day work (and that's for 6 days mind you). Soo..I am really happy that I am getting this loooong vacation. I am thinking I could grab a good sleep (top of my list) and be a couch potato for once ...but then again ... I find that very unhealthy.

I am living a very sedentary life working in front of the computer all day and I barely have the time to move my body. Soo...with the coming vacation, I will try to get up early, exercise and eat healthy foods (leafy greens and stay away from junk food). Besides, summer is here and I long to fit in my swimwear ...lol ...:D

I think that's it... I hope ya'all find this interesting

My goal for this week is to train my mind that when I'm craving something sweet, I'm thirsty. It's mostly true, and I'm finding that I crave sweets also when I'm tired. So getting enough water and getting enough sleep are moving higher on my priority list. I'm not doing either especially well at the moment.

Mo, I may have to add you to my list of fitness heros. My big deal last week was beginning to formulate a food plan for strength training. I looked some up and the calories are way higher than I can manage if I'm eating healthy foods. I could easily do it in cheesecake though. I have been doing the macronutrient ratios though.
My only goal this coming week is to make my wedseday workout before I start my 18 hour shift. It would be so easy to just stay home.

The lowest weight since that I mentioned last week? I hit that 3 or 4 days in a row. I'm back up a little, but I wasn't watching my servings. This week will be a bit of a challenge with the drop in temperature requiring bundling up again for walks.

K, glad to hear that your effort is paying off!

I kept up with my 3x running 1x strength workout goal last week. I also packed a big water bottle to work every day which I think helped keep me away from the afternoon snacks.

I've noticed that I am significantly happier all day after I work out! It is excellent motivation to continue.

Well done Mo - doing 10 km in less than an hour is my goal too. I hear you on the endurance/ fitness model thing too!!

Dianthus - I have been eating lots of icecream too. I hadn't eating any since my celiac diagnosis, but my sister made made me me a batch for my birthday and I am tucking in. I made myself some too. I received lots of GF of GF treats and catered for a party, but I don't have any real regrets about this deviation = one only has a birthday once a year!!

I only ran once last week, but went once already this week, and hope to get back to 3 times a week. I am aiming for 1 weight session - I know more is better, but I am still struggling with enjoying them.

Oh, I do drink tea on my night shifts - usually boy drinks iced tea, so I've been trying to switch to that. I miss my bubbles, so I have a bottle or two of perrier in the staff fridge :)

I like to snack on vegetables at night though, and raspberries!

It sounds like everyone's doing well! Yay for us!

Mo - Congrats on your race! And good luck training for your next one.

Lyn - Have you tried drinking tea on your night shifts?

Minnie - Congrats getting your workouts in!

Maven - I didn't think about tree pose to help with balance. I hope you meet your goal!

MaryK - It's always hard getting back into the swing of things, isn't it? It sounds like your doing really well getting back.

Dianthus - Good luck with good food days. I had a run in with frozen yogurt this weekend as well. But, we still have to a few vices. :)

Anna - Good job!

I was generally good with my diet until Friday. I had a run in with some ice cream but was down 1 lb so that is good. I had a goal of lifting weights three times for the week and got them all in. I think my quads are too weak for squats with weight so I'm doing leg extension for a few weeks to get used to working those poor things. I am doing deadlifts too so it isn't all bad.

My goal is to have 6 good food days and lift 3 times this week.

I am pleased to report that I am back to something within spitting distance of the straight and narrow, now that my house guest has departed. I did three boot camp classes and two trainer sessions this week, so that was a big win. Food was pretty decent, too. Weight is down a pound, although still too high for my liking.

Up for next week: More of the same.

Balance is more important than ever as you get older. I've had a couple of falls in the last two years that just missed giving me a serious injury. I've added tree pose to my daily yoga, and at first I could barely stand 5 seconds without wobbling or needing support. After only a week I'm up to 30 seconds each slide.

Strange couple of weeks. Up and down 4 pounds, but the down is only a pound from my interim goal. I keep to my exercise schedule and counting steps. Wonder if it's time to get my thyroid checked.

Next week: hang in there, and by the end of the week I want to fit into last summer's jeans.

Oh; those balance problems - sometimes I have to crouch down for long periods of time (in heels) and I can definitely feel it in my calves at the end of the day!

I have started to use kettle bells in addition to my free weights - and I think I may eventually go to kettle bell only. I really like the cardio workout it gives me (although I know it isn't true cardio), but it seems to leave me more tired than my free weights. I suppose we'll have to see which gives me the better results!

My goals for this week is soda pop only once a week (although this will be hard because I have three night shifts and I rely on my soda pop to get me through them), and to try to do at least 15 minutes a day of some type of weights. I think I might have to go to an average of 15 minutes because of my three overnight shifts - unless I take my weights with me. Now there's an idea!

Hooray for better balance! My BF hits door frames too, lol. I think it's his depth perception. He's blind without glasses.
I had a good week. Tapered for my race, and finished under an hour, as was my goal.
This week will start off with weights at the gym with BF today. I have downloaded a training plan for a sprint triathlon in July. That's 15 weeks away which makes training start tomorrow. That means twice a week each of biking, swimming, and running. I'm not committed yet, but going to jump in to the training. I'd rather be ready than decide later I want to do it and not be ready at all!
What this means is I'm likely to be doing less weights. It's been noted that endurance physiques and strength training physiques differ, with endurance athletes being a bit softer. I have to ask myself if I want a body that looks great, or one that can go the distance.
Lastly, I still need to monitor the wine. I've been great with keeping the amount down, but still have some most nights. I'd like to have more wine free nights each week. Progress.

Hi everyone. How was your week?

I've noticed a couple of changes that make me very happy. I sometimes have to squat at work and I've noticed that when I go to get up, I don't have to hold on to anything to help myself up. And I'm a ess wobbly when I'm walking. Now if only I could do something about running into door frames and counters... :)

One of my big goals this week is to try and figure if there is a pattern for when I have a sugar craving. And now that the weather is nicer, I want to spend part of my lunch break walking around my building.

What are your goals for the week?
