Good work guys. Congatulation I think you must be responding to the spring!

As for me, I used the opportunity to catch up on sleep (necessary for my health) and to do 2 outdoor runs in our new neighbourhood. They were fun, and on both occasions I lost my way and had to walk quite extra to get home (4 km extra on one day!). At least I am getting to know my way around!

Foodwise not so good - I was doing a job application and fell back on to using sugar to keep me going, in addition to more treat eating because of social gatherings, children wanting to cook treats for me. And now I am at the hungry end of the month.

My aims this week are to do another short treadmill run (just did it) and an 8km run on Friday morning which is a public holiday. I have only just started increasing my runs past 5km, and I am aiming for a 10km in a few weeks. Oh and do do at least, preferably 2 weight sessions

I have made some food decisions - to try to add some more protein and fruit to my breakfasts, make sure my lunch includes vegies and not to eat rice cakes by themselves but to add some cottage cheese. I have recently been slipping into a bad habit of crunching away on them when I get hungry or stressed at work. (And I barely touched them before my celiac diagnosis, but then I was eating crackers etc from work then!)

Hello, I'm joining this thread for accountability. I have 3 regular am running dates weekly, about 12-14 miles total with a lot of hills. So keeping that up. Also try to get to the gym for 2 classes at lunch weekly, but recently meetings have come up so it's been hard to be consistent with that.

Anyone hear of fitnessblender.com ? I'm thinking about doing their workouts in the morning before work, if I could motivate to get up.

It sounds like things are going great for everyone!

Last week was not so good. I felt like I was getting sick and while I was able to watch what I ate, I didn't exercise like I have been. Goals for this week are to get back to exercising and trying to feel better.

I'm finding getting back to the weight lifting is the best inch shrinker. I do have a weighted hula hoop I need to use more often. Interestingly, my belly is pretty flat but my upper hips/love handles are more problematic.
I don't think I'll ever give up the wine or any one food group altogether. I have cut back on starchy carbs for years now, but won't avoid a baked potato with my steak dinner if we go out. Everything in moderation.

Texstyle, I think you've got something right about alcohol and belly fat. I'm going 30 days alcohol free beginning yesterday, and I expect positive results. Yes, my belly has gone down and is firmer, but there is still a layer of fat there.

If I fail you all have permission to beat me with a wet noodle.

Mo--big help on inch loss is not eating white carbs. I also find that without them I don't get so hungry and can bypass all kinds of snacks that soon add up.

Mo, my favourite formula for weekly basic tri training is 2 workouts for each discipline, and then 1 extra workout of the 'weakest' discipline. If you do 2-a-days, or brick workouts, you end up with free days. Cross training with weights, or classes (core, yoga) mix it up nicely and give you a break from all the cardio, but tackle neglected areas.

sounds like most of us are trucking right along.
Tex, for myself, weighing in doesn't cause angst or bad feelings. I don't attach emotion. It is merely a number. And I like numbers, as you may have figured out by some of my posts I can play with numbers for hours. What % of bodyfat will result in 28 lb of fat and how many lb of muscle can I build to hit 36% muscle mass, etc, etc. You should see the pages of paper I've been scribbling training schedules on for my tri.
Beyond my joy of numbers, though, weighing in keeps me within a range and helps me maintain.

I had a good week - weights 2 times and 3 good long hikes plus loads of squats in the garden. Been eating really healthy and though I learned I *can* drink wine and not have hot flashes (see other update post) I have reduced the amount considerably with my 4 week wine "fast."

If anyone who drinks is holding belly fat and not losing it with exercise, consider giving up alcohol for a month or two and see how you do.

I can't imagine weighing myself down to the pound though as some of you do - doesn't that drive you crazy? I don't even own a scale.

My week was ok. Four days / five classes.
Not sure about my weight as the batteries in my scale need to be replaced and, of course, we have all kinds of batteries in the house except the ones I need.
I am leaving for Germany next Sunday and will probably not have time to check in. Next time I post my weekly goals will be the second Sunday in May. My goal is to get in four barre classes before leaving; to not drink wine every day while in Germany and to not gain weight while gone.

Transitioned from the treadmill to out of doors for running! Yay! If tomorrow is nice, will do it again.

The MOVE is throwing a wrench in the works, so I have decided to cut myself some slack. Will keep fitness up and am committed to a 10k run, and 2 sprint tri's, but won't take on anything else until things settle down.

I managed to get in two trainer sessions and three boot camp classes this past week, for a total of five gym days, which is my goal. Food was decent and the scale was down a few tenths of a pound, anyway. I'll take it.

My scale went down by 2 lbs. FINALLY. I had a great week, food and exercise-wise. Unfortunately, I overdid the sweets today (hangs head in shame). Hopefully it won't cause too much damage if I get back in the game tomorrow. I also seem to have come down with a bad cold, suddenly. Does anyone else gain weight when they are sick? I feel any meds I take causes me to retain water. Weird, I know.

This morning I looked back to the first of the year. In mid-February I wrote down my measurements. Even though I have been stuck gaining and losing the same 3-4 pounds since then, and am at the same weight as I was, I've lost inches or fractions thereof everywhere. Most impressive is that my abdomen, measured at the navel, had gone down 1 1/2". Still can't get into last years pants and jeans comfortably, although I can zip them up.

So, sticking to the exercise has paid off, especially all the crunches.

This week I'm adding a more difficult triceps exercise and will continue with what I've been doing. To lose that last bit of weight (gained since October) I'm going to stop drinking wine for at least a month, (I rarely drink other kinds of alcohol) and I've told my DH not to bring home any more of the candies he picks up at work. I already do a good job with the food diary, but looking it over, I can see where the wine and the little candy snacks are adding just enough extra calories.

I do like holding myself accountable by reporting in here every week.

I'm up to 30 minutes of timed walking in addition to warm up and cool down and according to many others, it is at this point that the exercise really starts paying dividends in terms of weight loss.

Oh, and I got almost 3 chin ups in at 20lb counterbalance assist last Sunday. Wondering if I can dare 15lb today.

Your turn!
