I have fallen by the wayside when it comes to running but have been Zumbaing regularly and have introduced a Sera Solstice belly dancing DVD into the mix, I cannot quite believe how intensely some of my muscle groups have been worked or how invigorating attempting the routines has been. My plan is to keep on with the exercise but be mindful of the sugar as it is creeping back into my diet at an alarming rate.

....right. Healthy Habits. It sounds like everyone is working hard and being very thoughtful about their goals! Last week I missed one of my planned runs, but I am choosing not to dwell on it. The plan for this week is my default workout schedule:

M - Run (Check!)
W - Run (AM), Yoga (PM)
Fri - Run (AM), Yoga (PM)

My healthy eating goal is to not demolish all of the leftover halloween candy. In fact, as soon as I get home tonight, I am going to put it away so it isn't sitting by the front door urging me to have a piece every time I walk by.

Late to the game but...

I haven't chimed in here as I have good intentions but haven't been able to make the commitment recently to act on them. I had lost weight successfully a few years back with a combination of finding exercises that I enjoyed and tracking my food intake online. Well, with a move entailing a longer commute as well as misplacing the Wii, all that fell by the wayside and the weight came back on.

Now... I recenlty got a new Smartphone and decided to download My Fitness Pal. I don't like it quite as much as my old online tracker (less personalizable, less flexible) but...it is accessible and I have been using it, because I can do it on the fly and I don't have to sit down later to take ages to enter it all online. And lo and behold, just by tracking what I eat, I have so far lost 6 lb in just 2 weeks! I know I can't expect to keep up that rate, but I see the scale a little lower every day instead of bouncing right back up again. Yay me!

The funny thing is, I am not really trying to change the way I eat (I always choose, and cook, healthy meals, well except for my sour cream weakness) but just the fact that I am recording it is making me plan ahead for healthy snacks to have ready at my weak moments, and think twice before filling my face with the mystery chips at the nursing station. (I even got to share a large movie popcorn with DH. But yikes! did you know one of those babies is 950 calories?)

We are planning a brief trip home over Christmas, and I am looking forward to not being heavier than when I saw my family the last time...

And here's hoping in the New Year I will maintain the motivation and also get back to a regular exercise routine, which I know is what will really make me healthier in the long run. (But for now seeing the lb. come off is nice, because DH appreciates the results whereas he hasn't been particularly supportive of me making time to exercise.)

Best thing about last week is that it is over, although I still have a stash of leftover candy hidden away.

This week I vow to keep my food diary all through the day every day.

Two more sessions of physical therapy and at last I am having some results.

Amy, it's an app for my Kindle called 100 pushups or something like that. It's free. And last night I couldn't cut it. Had to drop and do knee push ups for part of the last 2 sets. 42 total and that is only the 3rd day - ugh.

I was down with a cold all last week, (which was good in that it made me not feel like eating buckets of candy). This morning I started back up on working out - and chose a relatively easy one to get back into it. Hoping to continue toward full health and regaining muscle that I lost laying around for a week without regaining fat at the same time

Week was a dud but my 8 week reminder popped up (reminding me of my trip to Costa Rica) and I know I need to keep track of everything everything I eat, get all my healthy fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water, and have protein with every meal. On top of that, I've been working out extra so I can enjoy my extra "snacks'.

Goals this week:

M - HIIT class or run 6 miles.
T - run 6 miles
W - HIIT class
Th - Run 6 miles and Yoga
Fri - Boot Camp class
S - Weigh in, run 7 miles

Mo, what's your pushups plan? I need to get back to mine.

I'm going to pack abundant bentos every day this week, and do two core sessions in bf's building's gym.

Have swimming gear collected for getting back into the water for the first time in 5 years. If the urge strikes this week at a time when the pool's open, I'll go, but that'll be more about re-entry work than about exercise.

Really should get a pulse monitor, as I find them a huge help in pacing.

Hi. Week went well overall. Saturday was both good and bad. Started with a 5K and continued with a street festival, so 23,000+ steps for the day, but plenty of pints of beer to go with it. I'll call it a wash. I also took off my push ups day on Friday so I need to get back on plan there.
I will continue to run 2 or 3 times a week, walk my errands as usual, and a bike ride or two. Focus will be the push ups app. I need to get more rigorous with strength training.

Celeste, I feel for you! Injuries and illnesses that keep us on the bench are so frustrating!

I hope you don't mind if I report that I am over the moon with happiness because I took a boot camp class yesterday, for the first time since my surgery, and lived to tell the tale! I actually did much better than I expected -- my cardio is shot, of course, but I was even able to do some exercises affecting the affected area without any ill effects! I'm going to ease back into it, though. This week I will do two trainer sessions and two boot camps and see how it goes, and increase next week if I can. I see my surgeon on Tuesday so I can get his blessing for that plan.

I've started tracking my food again after having gotten a little too loosey-goosey, and that's going pretty well.

Have a good week, everybody!

Just about sorted with the new workout routines. Feeling virtuous that I managed Holloween without succumbing to a candy binge! Reese's PB cups are my nemesis!

A fitness friend hired a spin instructor for a weekly 2 hour session geared to triathletes and cyclists, and I signed up. We had our first session today! It was lively and fun and probably a better workout than I would give myself grinding it out at the gym watching 'The Food Network'!

My goal is to balance my intense workouts with the long hikes/walks I have been talking about for a few weeks. I injured my back at a boot camp in May and my body and mind would benefit from changing it up. Wishing you all a healthy, happy week!

Hi everyone! How was your past week?

Mine went pretty well. I finally found the stairs at work (I was nervous to try them because I thought they were for fire escapes only). I'm glad I have another way to burn a few calories at work. It's 5 flights to my floor and it's nice to get the heart rate up.

My goals for this week are to mediate on a regular basis, keep up my walking and daily exercises, and to keep eating healthy.

And MaryK- Thanks for the meditation suggestion!

What are your goals for the week?
