				<description>&#060;p&#062;I am very late to this thread but anyway...&#060;br /&#062;My fitness goal for this year is to run a 10km race in less that one hour. It should be possible - I did it only 30 seconds over 2 years ago. Nevetheless I have a long way to go - It took me 45 minutes to run 6km this week&#038;nbsp; &#060;br /&#062;My plan is to run 3 times a week - one long run outside, one short run outside and one treadmill run where I do a hills workout and do 5km as fast as I can.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I am also riding my bike to work most days and hope I can manage to continue when I move house in a month or so (it will be further away, and there are more traffic issues). Loving it so far!

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Last year my boyfriend and I went vegan (I'd been vegetarian for nine years prior), and I love it. I need to continue learning to cook, eating healthier (there's plenty of vegan junk food), and keep up with my vitamins. I also use a SAD lamp all winter.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Sorry if this is TMI but it was my major stress last year:&#038;nbsp;I had a number of health scares and terrible ob/gyn visits that really put me off the doctor for a while. I&#038;nbsp;had a very bad reaction to estrogen and am banned from taking any hormonal birth control due to stroke risk in our family. In December I finally got myself motivated and found a new ob/gyn. My first appointment was a huge relief after the terrible docs I had before. Now that I have a dr I like I plan to get my reproductive health under control - stay current with checkups and get a paraguard.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I see a chiropractor every week for neck/back pain and tension headaches (thanks office job). Since I started in Sept. the headaches have nearly vanished, and the neck and back pain is slight and easily managed with my weekly tuneups. On Saturday I got a hot stone massage for the first time, and it was amazing. It was a Christmas gift from my bf, because he knows I wouldn't pay for it otherwise. His insurance covers his massage therapy since he has fibromyalgia, so he knew it was worth it. I might have to start putting a dollar a day into a massage fund just so I can go every few months!&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Other goals are to continue managing my depression/anxiety, to address my fatigue, and most importantly to exercise! I am so bad about not exercising.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Going against the grain that says you get slower as you get older, and I'm going to try to be faster at the short (sprint) distance triathlon this year.  Registered for a big (national) race in July and aiming  to place in the top 10 of my age group.  If I can achieve this, I will qualify for an international event that will be held in Chicago in 2015!  &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;To achieve my goals I will take the same approach to working out as to fashion...quality over quantity!  I'm learning how to use a heart rate monitor to ensure I'm making the right kind of effort during my workouts.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;My biggest goal is to get back to walking/jogging every day (well, every day that it's above 20 F). I couldn't go for my daily walks/jogs with Frankenboot, but now that it's off, out the door I go.&#038;nbsp;&#060;br /&#062;It hit 21 F this afternoon, so I bundled up in my snowsuit and&#038;nbsp;put a&#038;nbsp;coat on Cosmo Edward and a sweater on&#038;nbsp;Daisy (she's one of my mother-in-law's two dogs that we're taking care of while she's in FL). I was glad to get a walk in before the snowstorm and negative temps. hit!

It is so good to see so many community members sharing positive health and lifestyle goals!&#060;br /&#062;I'm sorry I wasn't back to this thread the day I started it, but I was beginning my new year off right (I hope).&#060;br /&#062;I got to spend New Year's eve with the SO and New Year's day as well-- it definitely was relaxing and a load off my mind to get to see him.&#060;br /&#062;I got my first run of the year in on January 1st and that was a good start. &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;In 2014 I have a couple main goals and mini goals.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;+ I'm hoping to maintain cardio at 2-3x a week and increase from there.&#060;br /&#062;+ I want to get back to light weight lifting to strengthen my muscles around my joints. &#060;br /&#062;+ Get with my cardiologist to figure out what is causing the frequent migraines.&#060;br /&#062;+Explore additional testing to see if something could be done to improve my quality of life.&#060;br /&#062;+ Eat healthier lunches and breakfasts.&#060;br /&#062;+ Experiment with vitamin D and or a lamp. &#060;br /&#062;+ Working on mindfulness and reducing stress.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;@Srah, hi! I would *love* to do tribal fusion, but so far the classes that have fit in my schedule have been mainly cabaret-based. My current teacher is in a fusion troupe though and does add in some of those things. Very challenging! (I think the term &#034;tribaret&#034; works well for it, to borrow Carrie Konyha's term, though she uses it a lot more intentionally and our mix is more toward cab).&#060;/p&#062;

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Back to healthy eating and losing the 10 pounds I've gained since October.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Walk&#038;nbsp;in the park at least 3X a week and work on getting 10,000 steps at least 3X a week. &#038;nbsp;I've done the walk&#038;nbsp;once so far this year.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I've made a chart so I can keep better track of my p/t exercises and work on increasing strength and improving posture. &#038;nbsp;&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I do better if I can eliminate most sugar and most alcohol from my diet. &#038;nbsp;Now that the holidays are over it will be easier to do that. &#038;nbsp;(I just ate the last big piece of homemade fudge this morning. &#038;nbsp;I had to save my DH from eating it.)&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I would really like to work hard on doing what it takes to eliminate the many aches and pains I've developed in the last few years. &#038;nbsp;While I can't get my younger self back, I can lessen the effects of some bad habits I've developed as it's been harder to keep up with the exercise.

&#060;p&#062;I started doing yoga at the end of last year&#038;nbsp;in a close-by&#038;nbsp;neighbourhood studio as a way to relax stiff muscles and deal with my grief of losing &#060;i&#062;both&#060;/i&#062; Jasmine and Rosie. It's helping, I enjoy it,&#038;nbsp;and I am off to my first class of the new year right now.&#038;nbsp;&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Also, I continue to work on a healthy mind and spirit&#038;nbsp;most of all because&#038;nbsp;that work&#038;nbsp;feeds through to every cell in my body and effects everyone around me. I try to be more&#038;nbsp;emotionally intelligent each day. Truly,&#038;nbsp;it's at the core of it all, and THE way I can make a difference.&#038;nbsp;&#038;nbsp;&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I get plenty of exercise walking and shopping,&#038;nbsp;and we eat very well. So Greg and I will&#038;nbsp;continue along that path until it needs tweaking.&#038;nbsp;&#060;/p&#062;

				<description>&#060;p&#062;First off, I want to get back on track with my daily walk/run/bike routine (adding swimming in the summer). The last two weeks of holiday madness put a big hit on my activity level, and I have definitely added a few pounds of holiday fluff.  <span aria-hidden="true" class="emoticon emoticon-sad icon-emoticon-sad "></span>  &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;So in addition to resuming my &#034;sweat every day&#034; goal -- at least 30 minutes of some strenuous activity -- I'd like to:&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;- bike a century this year. The longest bike ride I've done to date is a bit over 40 miles. I'd like to work my way up to 100 for an event this summer or fall.&#060;br /&#062;
- do a mini tri. I need to get back up to my former running self to do this. Running took a back seat to biking and swimming last year in the wake of my surgery.&#060;br /&#062;
- keep working on my eating habits, and in a related effort:&#060;br /&#062;
- cook more often&#060;br /&#062;
- try rock climbing (I need more upper body work)

Stress eating as well as injury and then surgery  <span aria-hidden="true" class="emoticon emoticon-sad icon-emoticon-sad "></span>  did a job on my exercise routine and weight. I just need to redouble my efforts to eat healthy (which I generally do) and slowly ramp up the exercise again without getting hurt.&#060;/p&#062;

				<description>&#060;p&#062;I've been doing pretty well with a mainly primal/ancestral health way of eating (high fat, mid protein, low carb, but it's not just any fats. Some are yes, some are no). I'm not ravenous all the time like I used to be!&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;My goals are to improve muscle mass and to move more, mainly with more frequent walking and more diligent dance practice outside of class itself. I have been slacking on those for the past few months, I confess.

&#060;p&#062;I have to fit in more stretching and pilates core exercises. &#038;nbsp;I am very disciplined about cardio and strength training, but neglectful about stretching. &#038;nbsp;I would consider it a major achievement if I fit in 2 mat pilates sessions every week. This would have&#038;nbsp;2 big benefits--avoiding more back injuries and making clothes fit better through the mid section.
