Brenda, that is awesome! Well done, you!

I had some good news today; at my WW weigh-in I had lost a tiny bit more! Which makes a total loss of 2kg, about 5lb over 2 months. Its been slow, but if I continue I will be back at my happy weight by next summer - squee!! I celebrated by buying a belt. And enjoyed 2 chocolate digestives. Which I counted :).

I like reading everyone's updates. :)

I'm doing pretty well. My weight is maintaining fine. And as of today, I'm up to 6585 cardio minutes for the year. The goal is 10,000 by Dec. 31 so I'm on my way.

Inspiring to read all of your achievements!

I'm still not managing to do anything very healthy, but DH is going low carb and high vegetable, so we're eating quite healthily for main meals (I need to replace unhealthy snacks with healthy ones again and drink more water).

I'm starting to get psyched up to get back onto healthy habits properly in September. The thing I need to do is get up early to take the dog for a walk every morning. This didn't work when I tried it before because it was causing problems with the rest of the family routine on school days. Now the children are a year older I think it might work.

Khris. Really so impressed with what you're managing, especially with your worries in the background. You said that you have found you work better in the morning and get up at 6am. Did you find it hard to get into the rhythm of doing that? I feel that that would suit me well, but somehow I still don't manage it so am looking for pearls of wisdom that might help!

Good for you, Malina! I like to set goals periodically, too, and those sound like good ones. I have recently started going to bed earlier during the week, drinking more water and doing an all over toning workout at least 2 x's per week, plus walking a little every day. I've also been trying to eat relatively healthy (but without depriving myself of the good stuff :)).

I'm doing OK, maintaining at least. I don't own a scale, so I don't know if I've lost any more weight, but based on how my clothing is fitting (or not), I'm doing fine. Definitely happier in mind and body now that I'm exercising regularly. Even when I'm finding it too hot to run, I've been jumping in the pool and swimming laps for a half-hour.

As for food, I'm grappling with the late dinner scenario that comes with my new working hours, but I'm doing a good job of resisting fast food and other junk. I'm still tracking my eating habits with the My Fitness Pal iPhone app, which is very helpful.

I had a breakthrough moment the other day when I realized I'm starting to like above-the-knee skirts on me, when I avoided them for the last few years. Yay for running!

Ohh, Lynne - great plan!! I also am in the mindset of culling before my move at some point in the near future.
Congrats Khris and Teri on getting some new exercise worked into your schedules! A big congrats to you Mary on being only 1 pound from the barely speakable goal lol!!
Elly, health is definitely about more than just what you eat and exercise. Good for you for getting yourself checked out and taking preventative measures, too.
Rachylou, did you avoid the carb loading?? I am trying to incorporate fruits and whole grains more again after trying to limit them not very successfully. Any knowlegde of whether earlier in the day and/or right after exercise are best times to eat the higher GL foods? (she asks while sipping a smoothie after getting off the exercise bike lol)

Awesome, Khris, well done! Ilove your schedule of cleaning one room - brilliant.

And Mary K, congratulations!

Elly, getting your appts up to date is a top priority healthy habit. Hope they go well.

I am going to add another healthy habit to my list, and please keep me accountable, girls. In Nov/Dec, we will most likely be packing up to move back to Australia. We need to fit everything into a 20 foot container (and they're not extendable. I've tried ). AND I would hate to move junk to the other side of the world, and have to sort it there when we're settling into new schools, new house etc. So it makes sense to sort through now. So my extra goal is this:

I am going to start with the living room, on the RHS of the door, work my way around the room in that direction, making sure that everything we have is something that we love, use, and want to keep. I'll start each day where I left off the previous day. Starting today, with the bookshelf in the background below:

V. excited because I am cleared to go back to my trainer tomorrow!!

Weight is still doing well -- hovering around 116, which is just one pound above my "I hardly dare whisper this number out loud" goal. Crazy.

Food is good. I have stopped tracking every bite and I swear I'm eating less because when I see my daily calories, and I have room in my "budget," I just can't leave those calories on the table. I have to eat them. Whereas when I'm eating more intuitively and not by the numbers, I stop when I'm happy. HUGE shocker there. I mean, HUGE. I NEVER thought I could trust myself to regulate my food intake, so this is kind of rocking my world.

My face is still a bit sore and swollen and the stitches around my ears and under my eyes are still tender, but it's getting better every day.

Hubby is home for a while and he says he's going to go to the gym with me when I'm cleared for boot camp. We'll see about that.

Malina- it looks like you have a great plan.
My eating has been wretched, but because I haven't been feeling well I just eat what's easy. I am trying to keep more fruit/veg in the house so that I will eat that.
Exercise has been good because I decided to try out the Aqua classes at my gym. It varies a lot from teacher to teacher (so I have been trying to take a class from each one), but the teacher that I like so far really keeps you moving the entire time, and she uses the Styrofoam dumbbells with the resistance of the water for a great cardio and resistance workout. I'm off to try another teacher this morning.
I have also been making some changes to my life routine. I've realized that I just have more energy in the morning, so I get up and get what needs to be done right away. I usually wake around 6, and I do a load of laundry, do the cleaning (I have one room I clean each day), and run out to do the grocery shopping/errands before I hit the gym. By lunchtime I am done with what really needs to be done, and I can relax until it's time to think about the kids activities or dinner.

I need to get back to the gym. I haven't been since April. Now, that sounds bad. I did hike 3X a week almost every week in May and June though. I need to go back---- but first I have to finish my last college paper. Like now-- I need to stop procrastinating.

I have a cardiologist apt. coming up and I need to make all the other usual once-a-years (eye, dentist, ect) plus a chiro and derm appt. All my docs come up in august.

Teri, you look fab. I don't know where you've put the 20lb!

Malina, well done.

I rejoined Weightwatchers 5 weeks ago. It's been incredibly slow, but I've lost 1.5kg (about 3lb) and just over an inch off my waist by following the program. I haven't been exercising because we've had visitors, been on hols, and just generally been busy with 3 children home on school hols. Enough exer-cuses! Iknow this will work better with exercise, so my goal this week is to:

walk in the mornings, by getting up earlier than the children
do 30mins of cardio at the gym, 3 times. I may need to bribe the children to get this time, but c'est la vie.

Back to drinking lots of water again. Managed to gain 20 lbs over the last year

I had a pretty good week but decided to make August the month of instituting changes. Little changes, but ones I hope to stick with.
#1 - I am getting dressed by noon no matter if it's simply into exercise gear or loungewear. PJ's in the afternoon just isn't good! Being doubly stuck in the house, between no car and the extreme heat, it was getting easy to put off getting dressed.
#2 - I am doing 15 minutes minimum of exercise each day but Sunday. So that might be a quick ride on the indoor bike or a half hour TV yoga program. Sunday is the BF's one day off so I consider that my cheat day
#3 - no more than 3 glasses of wine. Now, I don't guzzle a bottle every night or anything but on those Sunday's when we go out for a meal and have some champagne at the house, it can be 4 or 5 drinks by the end of it all. Time to put a cap on that. I'm having a few wine free days each week as well.
They say 30 days to form a new habit. So, we'll see . . . add to this my SYC and I have a long August ahead of me! At least I have already ingrained my nightly push ups as a habit many months ago and recently added ab work. I think I'll alternate those so as to give my muscles the proper rest.
How are you all doing? For those who fell hard off the wagon, are you back on? Do you at least have a foot up?
