I have no trouble with sugar cravings in the summer because a lot of fruit are in season so if I want something sweet, that's what I usually eat. I generally stay away from anything with sugar and maybe eat 1 dessert a month. Once you stop eating that kind of stuff and get past sugar "withdrawals", you don't crave it anymore

Well, i was feeling very strong then re injured an old back injury playing with DD and was in bed nearly a week. i can get around and take care of most of my day to day stuff but am prohibited from running or weight lifting for 8 to 12 weeks. This will be hard b/c i dont like to watch my diet that closely. I use working out to be able to cheat. I can bike easy and swim easy if it doesnt hurt so I have tried doing each yesterday and today. Back for a follow up appt Wed and hoping I am on the mend. Also planning to take up pilates at recommendation of friend. Phew.

ETA: did i mention swimming makes me hungry! when i swam in H.S. i weighted 15 more pounds than i do now (at almost 35) and i dont want all my new just joined YLF clothes to stop fitting!

Oh Isabel I am holding your hand on this one!
It's REALLY hard when you are out and about to avoid temptations but I think for me it is knowing to stop and eat something halfway healthy and not wait for the sugar crash. Once I start to hit low blood sugar, I could eat a dozen doughnuts and still not have enough.

So what can you grab if you are out? Yogurt. Fruit of course. Kind bars (you could also buy at store and keep one in purse). Almonds (I buy at Trader Joes in single serve bags or make my own snack bags). At Starbucks, the protein pack has fruit, cheese, peanut butter/pita and an egg. Subway or sandwich place - ask for no mayo and no cheese or minimal cheese and lots of vegies with lean turkey.

If only I always took my own advice lol! I succumbed to wonderful strawberry shortcake this week and didn't regret it. Also, ate a little pork which was so good but I am still not planning my own meals around meat and feeling good about that.

If I could get my exercising amped up I would be happier with myself. Walking is good but still having issues with my hamstring hurting the next day or cramping up after walks. I am going back to dr. next week. I don't know how much to just push through it and how much to listen to the leg

Keep it going ladies!

KIki, congratulations on the weight loss !

It is funny how all three of us did pretty well in one area but let it slip in the other, LOL !

Shannon, Summer is horrible for me food wise. My kids get out of school and it is ice cream and clam cakes and juices and lemonades.......holy cow. I am going to need a nanny for MYSELF to keep me away from all this food. And my program ends in July right before the big Independence day party at our house ....... Maybe we should all just move into a house together for a few months ?

I'm doing well with eating, and saw a new number on the scale, one I haven't seen in at least a year. On the down side, it wasn't a good gym week--only made it twice.

My eating has not been good this past week - it's like as soon as the hot weather hits, I crave ice cream and anything barbecued. But I'm keeping up my exercise and managed to run 10K yesterday, so it's not a complete wash.

Well......what didn't I eat this past week ? Cheesecake.

I had a couple of great excercise sessions though I think that I over did it and was wiped out for a couple of days. I am not sure how to figure out what is too much. I will talk to the trainer about it.

I did not eat well. I was craving sugar like crazy. I ate some donuts. YUP. Help me. I felt a bit like Christieanne in that I was out allot. I don't know how she does it. One crazy day, I did swing by a supermarket and picked up carrots and sliced fruit and that was lunch. I will skip telling you about the two donuts ( at the same time ) I had 3 days later. I am not weighing myself..but my body doesn't look any different to me. Maybe it was those secret doughnuts. UGH ! ( Coincidentally, Livestrong had a nutritionist come talk to us about sugar....and I misunderstood that we should avoid it, not eat it by the dozens. )

How are all of you doing ?
