I haven't been losing any weight but I'm holding steady. I have the summer doldrums and 100+ temps are not helping. I'm feeling calmer though about everything and I think that will help with everything. Life is finally calming down for me

This is a challenging time--but then it seems like it is nearly always that way. House guests, bad weather, (20-25 degrees colder than normal and rain) many dinners, events and parties coming up. Also will be traveling before long. Knowing that I will gain weight on our next trip, I find it harder to stay motivated. I'm up a few pounds from eating out a lot and making bad choices. We had an end-of-quarter party for our class last night and everyone brought something. It turned out to be a feast. What can you do? I'm trying to drink a lot more water (wash the salt out at least) and hang in there.

Exercise is playing with my cats, but I'm afraid they are burning most of the calories.

From now on I'm going to try to stay focused--a few weeks ago I took most of my too-big clothes to Goodwill.

Mo, I never managed to work out what had happened with your injury? And was it after the half marathon (and if so, how did you go in the half?

I feel for those of you who are affected by heat and humidity. We have great exercising weather atm in Australia - but the nice cool weather has brought colds to all my family and I have had to abandon exercise yet again (lots of time with kids home sick)

I am 1.4 kg (is that 3 pounds) more than at the beginning of May, and even though I am not well, and can't taste much, am finding it hard to stop overeating.

Yes, summer doldrums! I'm really feeling them today. I'm ready for a break, and the humidity is sucking all the life force out of my body.

Thanks, Polly. I just have to mentally shift gears a little. And I hear you on slowly getting lazier and lazier! It's a slippery slope

Malina, so sorry to hear that. It's been a long time for you and so hard to cope with. Thinking of you and sure you'll find something to focus on.

I'm getting lazier and lazier on everything! It's half term this week in the UK so I'm not going to fuss too much but I want to get back into gear with a vengeance next week. My weight seems to be roughly stable but I can't help thinking it's because I'm standing in the right place on my comedy scales...!

I am finding exercise to be difficult lately and I'm sure the temps over 90 have a lot to do with it. Food seems to be swinging back into a good direction and I'm down a pound or so. Moreover I seem to be unmotivated. I'm sadly coming to the conclusion that I won't be ready for the triathlon in 8 weeks. I still can't yet jog even 2 steps. Sigh. If I could take back that 10 minutes on a bicycle life would be a lot different right now. Trying to find a focus now that the race seems highly unlikely.

I love the longer days -- it's great to have the sun up at 6:00 a.m. when I go to the gym, and still up at 7:00 p.m. when I get finished with tap class! And it's still pretty cool here so it's the best of all worlds!

Exercise: Great. Two tap classes, three boot camp classes, two trainer sessions.

Food: Awful. Hubby was home for the long weekend from his out of town job and there was prodigious consumption of food and drink.

We're at the tail end of May - time for a final check-in before June hits. How did things go last week? How do you think the warmer weather and the longer days (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere) are affecting you - is it make things easier or harder?

I had a good week, exercise and food were both on track. In the last week warm weather really hit Boston. For me personally, exercising in the heat and humidity feels very challenging. Hopefully I will adapt. I'm continuing slow, steady progress overall.
