Kim, I've had the same things qfbrenda describes of a jump in weight right after a hard workout. Totally normal.

My weight was up this week and I just discovered that a new medication I'm taking can cause water retention. Good to know.

I went back to exercising with a bang. On monday did a step class followed by a pump class - I haven't done that combination before and it was fantastic, presumably because I was well warmed up. Then Tues morning I met my ladies running group for the first time in about 6 weeks.
But now my youngest is sick, so didn't make it to the gym yesterday. And today my alarm got mysteriously turned off in the night! This is not the first time this has happened and prevented me getting up to run. I don't know if I am doing it myself, or my little daughter is twiddling the knobs when she makes her nocturnal visits.

Weightwise NOT good. I didn't weigh myself for a few weeks and also went on a baking frenzy and put on about 3 pounds - 2 pounds over what I consider my acceptable range. Am trying a plan I used a few years ago where I get to bake once for every 10 hours of exercise (becuase a total ban was what led to the frenzy). Also trying out some suggestions made a while ago on YLF about getting my housework done so I can exercise.

I'm chugging along. I'm not really doing anything very much - I'm stable on my weight at the point I'd reached (yay!) but not moving downwards any more unless I put some more effort in.

I'm eating pretty healthily, give or take, but not doing enough exercise for my own good, so that's got to be the focus. I just find it hard to fit in on a regular basis as it's not a high enough priority in my own mind to make it work. I need to think about this! Energy levels in the evening seem to be higher, though, so perhaps I could do more...

Kim, it's probably fluids. I retain water when I've worked my muscles hard or if I haven't drank enough water. It's medically impossible to gain 3 lbs of fat in 2-3 days. And it's possible that you aren't eating enough--crazy, I know. If you drop your calories too low, your body will decide it's starving and hold on to every lb it can.

I'm doing well, other than I'm sick with my boys' cold and don't feel like doing anything. Sigh. Speaking of retaining fluids, it's been a few days since I've lifted weights and I'm down a couple of lbs. I'm betting as soon as I do a weight training video, I'll gain them back. The fluid comes and goes... and the muscles need it to repair themselves. So it's just part of the deal.

I want to know HOW when I've run 10 miles on Sunday, (thinking of training for my first half marathon) and then ate less than 1500 calories daily the scale can go *up* 3 pounds over the weekend??

REALLY??

Any ideas ladies?? Is my scale screwy? LOL (That's what I think of it in the morning when it said that!) I'm trying to *drop* that last 5-8 pounds, not gain more! LOL

Anyway, eating has been pretty good, I journal what I eat daily, and my exercise has been bang on. I do 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, along with my very long run on Sundays (about 2 hours to do 10 miles)

Need to start drinking more water though, and be better hydrated all around. Coffee and diet coke alone won't do it...

Great exercise week, food was so-so. Mo, I'm with you on the weight thing. The scale has bounced up a couple of pounds for no discernable reason, but I'm hoping it will be permanently below 120 before too long.

On Sunday I did a lot of cooking so I have ready-to-grab lunches and dinners ready for the whole week. That is key for me staying on plan. And my hubby is out of town so it's just me and I don't mind eating the same one or two simple things every day. This week it's taco salad, chicken and rice, and hard boiled eggs, with cheese for snacks and protein shakes for breakfast.

Travel interrupted my food and exercise. Then I just couldn't seem to climb back on the wagon. Really crashed and burned with the food and drink over the weekend. But I'm trying to get it together and got in a brisk walk today and will swim later. Playing around with the same pound or two for a few weeks now. It would be nice to just leave it behind once and for all!

Hi challengers, how did things go with your healthy habits this week?

I had a pretty good week in terms of following my meal plan, but didn't get as much exercise as usual because of travel. I did get out climbing on Sunday and am getting back into things this week.
