I'm late. This week is a killer week, as was last week. This is my last week before finals, so I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. So far I have lost 15 of the 20 "mystery" pounds I gained out of nowhere in January. I still can't manage to get enough calories in unless I eat junk in the evenings because I am still having problems with morning and midday nausea and then evening hunger. I'm eating enough to stay out of starvation mode, but probably not that healthily. Still, since I am working out 3-5 times a week and burning between 550 and 650 calories each workout, I have no idea why I am stuck. I was getting pretty frustrated, because I have been lifting light weights 2x a week since mid-January and I still haven't been able to increase HOW much I lift, although I can manage a few more reps. But, I have recently noticed how much muscle definition I have, which is making me feel pretty good. I missed a dose of heart meds today because I am a chicken with my head cut off and I was DYING during my workout.

The main thing I have been thinking about is how I am going to keep up my progress when I leave for the top of a mesa for 2 months. I have been riding the recumbent bike because my heart rate goes way too high doing cardio standing, and been using weights and a stability ball as well as doing floor exercises. Obviously I could buy some light hand weights, but there is no way I can do floor exercises or keep a stability ball in my small trailer. I also have no idea how I am going to do cardio. Any ideas? I could just be having a blonde moment here!

I haven't checked in here for a while.....probably because things haven't been going so great. For the last month I've had an incredibly painful neck/shoulder that despite regular physiotherapy isn't going away. I also haven't been sleeping well, and that combined with waking up in pain isn't a good start to the day. I have only been exercising 1-2 times per week, and really trying to minimise activities that might further exacerbate my neck/shoulder issues. Food has also been awful - too many lazy options, too many indulgences, too much wine!

However I've decided that the only way for things to get better are to make them better myself. It's not all doom and gloom. I went to a Power Yoga class yesterday, and my neck hasn't pulled up too much sorer today, so I'll try again tomorrow. In terms of food I got a new blender last week, so I can now make my beloved smoothies and soups again (depending on which is more weather appropriate).

So my main goals for this week are more sleep, more home cooked food that isn't just a sandwich. Of course I am going away for easter, so that's going to make things difficult!

Sorry to chime in a bit late!
I did my usual four workouts last week, though they were a bit lighter by design (my coach has me doing three intense weeks followed by one lighter one for recovery). I was quite sure I'd dropped weight after all the exercise I've added to my life, but last week's shopping expedition really made me question that. Being on vacation presented food temptations that I didn't always resist and got me out of my usually excellent water drinking routine. On the flip side, the time off gave me a chance to finally start to feel rested again, and I've maintained an exemplary sleep schedule the whole time I've been off work. Last week I also signed up for a 5k walk, in which my boyfriend and a couple of other friends are now going to join me in June. So far so good this week -- two workouts down, and I'm definitely feeling improvements in both my strength and stamina. I think I'll do a test 5k walk tomorrow on top of the remaining two workouts. I'm finally reaching the point where I enjoy exercise!

My nemesis is my husband, but usually he strikes on the weekend LOL Last Saturday, I was gone all day with dd at her dance competition. We ate a good breakfast before we left, then we met my parents for a late lunch/early dinner (which I ate pretty well at), and then we stopped on the way home and got dessert (which I figured wasn't so bad since I had only has two meals). When I got home, dh had bought pizza- so I had some of that, too! Ugh!

I like the idea of the Weekend Waverers too. Perhaps there could be a second secret support group that checked in on a Sunday to swap stories of misdemeanours, before we all pretend to be healthy on a Monday LOL!

PS I'm focusing on all of the research that supports wine drinking. Trying not to look at the 'in moderation' part too closely though...

Did great last week until the weekend. I weighed in 3 lbs higher this morning. How can that be? Oh, I know. It's white carbs--my nemesis. Overall I'm doing fine--I'm getting my energy back. Like Thunalata, I'm going to use some of the energy and burn a few more calories by doing some serious spring cleaning.

Hey, can I join this group? I am trying to get back into running and eating better, as well as other habits that normal people probably have like drinking enough water and remembering to take my vitamins. My goal is to either lose 10 pounds or one clothing size and to be in good enough shape to do the hikes, biking and running I used to love.

This week was my first real exercise routine - I managed to run every other day and walk the dog on between days. Right now just getting started feels good. I've also cut way back on sweets and snacking on junk.

You all are inspiring - I think you started the same time as we started SYC around New Year's Day!

Like Mo, I'm burning off my weekend splurges. I usually eat very healthy all week and eat what I want (within reason) on the weekends. That extra two pounds is usually gone by Wednesday. Since I've added a daily 1.5 mile walk to my routine, it really helps.

But I MUST learn to resist that thick-crust (DROOL) pizza!

I reached my short term goal (to lose 5lbs)...two weeks ago? But i think i forgot to check in...so yay!!

My now long term goal is 5 more lbs and then maintain....but i think my body wants to take a little break and hang out at the weight it's currently at for awhile. My exercising went from 5 days a week to 2 days and i've been having more "cheat days" with calories. It honestly might be due to the weather, it's gotten colder again and ever snowed after we had our 70 and 80 degree days. Cold weather makes me lazy.

Also can we talk about peer pressure? People around me eat so much junk and so unhealthy and i sometimes feel like they bully me about it. Don't get me wrong -- i love to eat pizza -- but i'm also get full after one slice and i know i can always eat more when i get hungry again. And it's...irritable to me when someones like, "You sure didn't eat very much!!!" (in a loud obnoxious voice) -_- Portion sizes are out of control. That's why it looks like i didn't eat very much.

I went to the gym yesterday and saw the dietician afterwards. I was really disheartened because my weight had been creeping up the last weeks. But apparently it is mostly muscle! So it is not as bad as I thought. I was wondering how my new clothes could still fit and even be a bit loose while I was 3 kg heavier. Next 2,5 weeks are going to be tough because DD6 will have a combined Easter/May holiday and DD12 has to go to school most of that time.

Some good reports here. I'm still a bit in limbo, keeping to healthy eating just about, weight stable or dropping very slightly. Having trouble getting exercise going so this week instead I'm going to focus on getting the house cleared and into bed on time - my bedtime is creeping later and it has a bad effect on the next day and feeling motivated to get going.

I just got back from a run (started up again just this week) and feel great. I have no idea how far I went, but I'm guessing 1.5mi. It was pouring rain but I'm so glad I did. My boy dog went with and I think he had a good time. He's soaking wet though, of which he is not a fan.

I saw some photos my biz partner took of me at work and ouch. So that motivated me. Upping my veg intake in place of carbs so here's to hoping I loose that pesky 6lb!

Good week overall. Saw a lower number on the scale which was nice, but it bounces around up and down 2 pounds so I may be up again the next time I check. Seems like when ever I eat high sodium (think take out fries) my weight jumps up by 2 pounds the very next day! Now I *know* that a medium order of fries and a burger don't have *that* many calories in them!! LOL

I'm thinking about training for my first half-marathon (13 miles) in October. That will get my mileage up a bit as I need something to keep me motivated. I'd like to get the half under my belt *before* I turn 50 (in December).

I also discovered that doing your long run the day after you make a whole blood donation is not a good idea...Man, I never worked so hard to run, and I quit half way through my 10k (which I *never* do...) I was running on the treadmill (which is generally a very easy run for me) and it felt like I was running all uphill, against a stiff wind with rocks in all my pockets!

Next time I'm donating plasma or platelets and keeping my red blood cells until the half is over! LOL

Did fine with my workouts but had to spend the week burning off the weekend's indulgences! This week will stack up the same - gain a pound or two over the weekend, burn it off through the week. Repeat. lol
The foot/ankle got better and then just stayed the same - I don't need the cane unless I'm going long/far distances (mall, ballpark).
So I am status quo.
