Was home on vacation last week (staycation?) and the week before had a stomach bug. Lost 4 pounds due to the stomach bug (yuck) but gained it all back the next week...LOL (I knew I would).

I am upping the running because the warmer weather has finally started. Yay, no more running in -25C. I ran all winter out doors but am looking forward to some runs where I don't have to wear 5 layers (and that's just the pants!!)

I am considering registering for a half marathon at the end of the summer (in early October) so that I have a goal and stay focused through the summer. What little weight I want to lose from the winter hibernation should (hopefully) come off due to the extra running I'll have to do.

My eating has been decent, but not perfect. I love sweet stuff far too much for that! I can imagine how much less I'd have to work out if I didn't love cookies or chocolate quite so much!

I keep a food journal pretty faithfully and log my exercise time. I've got a couple of habits I want to start or break and this month is going to be: No eating after 7 pm. Hubby often likes to snack around 9 and I don't seem to mind joining him...LOL

I really am not that hungry and so I've decided these are simply calories I don't want to have to exercise off and thus they are being cut from my life. That's my goal for this next 4 weeks. Must go mark an X on the calendar for every day I accomplish that.

Did a new workout yesterday (on DVD) by Jackie Warner. Good workout, low impact, but cardio and strength training at the same time. I have to take it easy on my feet and not do high impact workouts on my off running days or my Plantars Fasciitis starts acting up and that aint no fun! Anyway, I'd recommend her 30 minute workout if you need something cardio but low impact on the lower body joints.

Back to work now, the kids are awake!

Last week was a write-off as I had a bad cold and was too exhausted to do anything remotely healthy. I'm looking forward to getting back into yoga tomorrow after my trying Zumba for a couple of months. This morning I was even thinking about ways to incorporate running back into my life! First, though, I have to get my sleeping back on the right track before I can actually get up at 6:00 am to go running. Baby steps.

I had another terrible week, but it has ignited my desire to get back to the clean eating that I was doing (and has shown me that even if I do nothing else, I need to be very careful about grocery shopping).

The couple pounds I was down last week have returned. I have to laugh because this is the story of my life these last couple of years. I even squeezed in an extra weight and cardio work out and ate reasonably well. I'll keep plugging away and see what happens. Hope everyone else has a great week!

This week I'm concentrating on healthier eating and I'm on my second day of that. I wish I had a little more energy--I think I will go have my thyroid levels checked. I don't seem to have much stamina for shopping lately. What a shame!

This will be my turnaround week to get back on track. Just so hubby doesn't get any more get-well gifts of chocolate. He can't eat it right now, so that leaves me to do the job. And this is how we get off track.

I know my presence on this thread has been sporratic at best, but I thought I'd report in.
I'm still contending with anemia brought on by some internal problems, so that can have an impact on my energy level. The good news is that I've been on a workout program since January and I've actually stuck with it!! Three weeks ago I graduated to four workouts per week (one elliptical, one treadmill, one bike + strength and weights, one swim). I'm able to hold my own with them, even at higher intensities, and this is very validating. The workout high sometimes helps mitigate the energy-related side effects of the blood loss I deal with, too. My fitness coach hopes to get me up to six workouts per week eventually, and tomorrow I'm signing up for my first 5k walk. Corey is joining me too, which I appreciate so much.
The workout program forces me to up my water intake and revise my food habits, which are all to the good. I really truly felt like I was losing weight and even got some comments to that effect recently, but today's shopping trip has made me question that. :(

Congratulations to all of you for doing so well!

Well, I did get the bad cold that was brought home, but luckily was over it enough to exercise mid week and got two workouts in. However, catching up on what I had missed when I was sick in bed meant that I got very little sleep, so it was a battle to be a functioning person. When I get stressed to the max I loose things, and lost both my cell phone and headphones last week. I also drove an hour to the wrong county and then had to drive back all before going home one day. I am getting a bit of my appetite back from the constant nausea (sometimes at least) which is good, although certain things and times of the day still make me ill. Basically, I am running on empty, but know it will work out (hopefully) in the end. Oh, and I was really stressed about the federal shutdown, because it would have ended my thesis research about halfway through!

Here is to hoping things get better!

I've had a good week! I'm finally starting to see some muscle definition in my arms, which is really fun. And my pants keep getting bigger, which is also fun. And like medusa, I hit a new low weight this week! Yay!

Still love, love, loving my boot camp and trainer. Did two boot camp classes, two private training sessions, and two tap classes. Plus spent a couple of hours walking around town shopping yesterday.

Keep up that good work, everyone!

I knew there was a reason I logged in just now... Looking for this thread - it's become a healthy habit of its own!

Not a great week again in that with children on holiday and DH ill (though on mend) I've just got out of the (healthy) habit a bit. Interestingly, some of the habits have remained even so (veg and fruit portions are still closer to 5 a day than they were at the beginning of the year, and water intake is not bad either. And my weight seems to be stable where it is, so that's fine.

Dithering about what to focus on this week. I think I'll go for early morning dog walks (as opposed to 'later in the day ambles with small children and dog'). Needs a bit of planning to make it work without returning to a house in uproar, but it'll be good to try...

Medusa so glad your hard work and persistence is paying off! Heleen and Malina, you're doing great!

Way to go Medusa!! I did fine with workouts - 2 swims, 2 indoor bike rides and several small bouts of strength exercises (boat pose, push ups, etc). Food is still iffy and too much convenience fare still. But . . . I am walking without the cane in little spurts around the house!! Wheee!! The hardest thing is still the stairs and we have tix to a baseball game next Sunday in Tampa with plenty of steps to navigate so I hope to get better with them throughout the week in preparation. Still roughly the same weight but I can feel my appetite coming on so I better get mobile ASAP!!

Hi all you healthy habits challengers. How did things go this week?

I had a pretty good week, I felt like I really saw some results kicking in. Exercise was good (this seems to be the easy thing for me). I did crossfit twice, went running once, went to yoga twice, and went climbing once. Food was also good this week. I bumped up my calorie target since I've been so hungry, to 2200, and did well with that. I also hit a new low on weight this week. Yay!
