I know how easy it is to hurt the back and sometimes it isn't doing anything wrong, just maybe too much. I learned that lesson a few weeks ago trying to move ahead with leg lifts and one tiny twinge--not even a pain--left me stiff and sore for several days. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I can relate to the mid-section bloat as well. Just give me some raviolis and the next day I can't zip up my pants.

Thanks Sally,

Yes the foam rolling felt good in a kind of painful way. The guy at the gym said the weight wasn't too heavy but my form. The class was unexpectedly big so not much chance to correct early. He also told me to go to spin tomorrow and not just stop all exercise!

I am not overweight as such, and I think there's a bloating component (has to be, since I'm down over a kilo in 2 days) but there has been a gradual creep in weight onto my bottom and thighs which is showing now in the clothes. When I said 25 weeks pregnant I didn't mean that my tummy was that big (though who knows, I haven't measured it for ages!) but that the overall weight was about that much. I was blessed with a return to pre-baby weight after each pregnancy and on Mon I was up about 4kg from that.

I also love cheese and home baking and have a sweet/carby tooth in general!! I am pretty restrained on the wine front (I'd rather give up wine than dessert) and thankfully don't like crisps or any similar snack, unlike DH who eats at least a packet a week!

Thanks Anne, I am 95%, still a little more tired than usual but I am sleeping a lot!!

I hope your back is okay, injuries in that area are so frustrating. Rolling is a great idea.

You look very slim and in shape from your WIW, is it bloating do you think? I know about the indulgences and the weekend eating (I am not a big night eater, but I am someone who likes the following and finds it hard to say no - cheese/home baking/wine/crisps!!)

Hope your neck is feeling better now Shevia.

Sally are you 100% now it is Wednesday?

MsMaven well done on the weight loss and SF, hope your dog keeps recovering

Last week I managed 5 gym visits (3 treadmill runs, 1 spin and 1 yoga class) plus a park run with my DD7. She was not at her best after doing cross country the day before but we still did 5km in 33 mins (some walking) I don't usually do consectutive runs but managed this slower paced ones even after an interval session the day before, and have realised that I probably am quite ready to take some longer, relaxed runs.

This week, however, I have hit an obstacle. I went to a class yesterday where we had to do 90 dead lifts (and burpees). My weight was 30kg. Around the 50 mark the instructor told me to stop the dead lifts and just do squats but already the damage to my back was done - I think that was just too heavy for me to do with the correct form. So feeling pretty sore today and will skip today's run and just do some foam rolling.

Food wise I reached a new high on the weekend and decided I had to do something. I don't think I look bad, but was definitely well into the 25 weeks pregnant territory - and worse, my clothes are feeling tight and I'm not comfortable wearing most of my work clothes.

I know the culprits - certain indulgences and late night/ weekend eating and am working to cut down on these.

Okay week. Went to some great Yoga classes. Our doggie was sick. She has recurrent UTIs and is on her third round of antibiotics in about 6 months. Finally she is starting to feel better. She is more willing to walk so I got more walking in with her. Hoping to get back to fitness classes in the next week.

Pretty good week in that I dropped the weight gained on the trip to the wedding. Now I'm cautiously adding in exercises being careful of my back.

I'm close enough to my goal so I've decided that rather than focus on weight I want to work on health goals, especially eating healthier. I want to cut way back on packaged foods. It's easy to rely on Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine for quick lunches and snacks, but you do get extra salt and who knows what chemicals. Not to mention the extra trash with the wrappings.

Another goal is to strengthen the core--gradually--without aggravating arthritis.

Third goal is to work on posture. I try to, but always find myself hunching over the computer. Often I stop sitting straight because a cat wants on my lap or to walk on the keyboard. I end up sitting somewhat twisted.

Last week both the AARP bulletin and the Berkeley Wellness Letter had notices that using ibuprofen and similar pain killers is not a good idea for older people, especially ones who already have high blood pressure, which fortunately I don't. Years ago my doctor suggested that I use Advil instead of aspirin for bursitis, so all this time I've used ibuprofen for aches and pains. https://www.caring.com/blogs/c.....ainkillers

Avoiding these painkillers will be much easier if I go slow and get stronger.

Last week was healthy on the food front, but no exercise completed as I was sick. Also no alcohol drunk!!

Feeling better again so went to the gym this morning. By Wednesday I am sure I will be 100%

Hate those sore necks in the morning Shedev!

Food and exercise were ok this week. Woke up with a knot at the base of my neck. Hope it goes away tomorrow.
