Yesterday I got an app that tracks my water consumption! I don't like to drink water so I need help. I like it so far! It reminds me to drink water (according to a schedule I set myself). When I drink 8oz I get to touch a glass that goes from full to empty. And the app's icon on the desktop has a little red circle with how many glasses you've drunk that day. I think I'm going to try to work with it because I REALLY need to drink more water!

Okay, I got on the scale a week and a half ago and declared an emergency! Since then I have been tracking my food and exercise on http://www.myfitnesspal.com, upping the water, limiting the alcohol and calories, and the weight is starting to slowly come off.

Did you know that two Manhattans and half a bottle of wine add up to almost an extra full day's calories? Yikes!!

I'm good Kiwigal. I've been visiting family in Boston for the last week. Food was abundant and I overindulged a bit, but I did a ton of walking. I had very little internet time.

Thank you Ms Maven for starting the thread this past week. I hope they get the fires tamed soon.

Stylefan, I'm glad you can still do some yoga.

Kerry and Kelly, I'm sure you will be able to get back into your routines once you adjust to the changes in your day.

It's the week before school starts and all my plans are shot! I'm hoping the regular routine and some of the habits I started last month will stick.

I'm thinking about buying a Fitbit. I know, late to the game I can't decide if I want that ugly rubber band around my wrist or the clip somewhere on my person that I'll forget to latch on or lose. Will I really want to wear it more than a month or two and is the money worth it?

I had an okay week. I am seeing a physiotherapist for a hamstring or muscle knot injury. She is not saying which it is. I am doing exercises to strength the muscles and stretch. I can still go to Yoga. Yeah!!!
However, the injury is wearing me down a bit. Not doing as much as I would like. Sigh.

Oh gosh Ms Maven those fires must be horrible. And frustrating to push harder and have the body let you down a little.

Kelly - so hard to find time when adjusting to a new job. Sounds like you are doing well.

Steady week here, but missed two workouts due to travel. Went for a long hilly walk while away. Eating mostly okay but a few treats here and there.

Edited: I hope Shedev is okay, as she is normally so reliable in starting these threads. Thanks for doing so Ms Maven.

Sorry that you were feeling subpar. We had some really smokey days around here--I didn't even want to go outside.

I have to say that my healthy habits have taken a hit with my new work schedule. I managed to get my miles in but had to do them in the course of three days instead of spread out over the week. I'm hoping to get a little more organized and get back into a more regular work out schedule in the next few weeks. My diet has been okay but I still managed to put on a few extra pounds. I need to get a handle on this before my pants stop fitting!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Busy week for everyone I imagine. I don't see an HH thread, so here I am, not feeling particularly healthy, but nothing serious.

A week ago I woke up with a cough, sore throat and feeling rotten, but I suspect it was allergies because I had spent time outside. A couple of weeks ago the wind changed and blew smoke from the northern California fires to the Bay area. Then we had a couple of fairly close grass fires in our neighborhood and I think the bad air got to me. I understand many people in Washington and Oregon are suffering much worse. The same day I woke up with a stiff, painful lower back. Not sure exactly why, but I suspect I was pushing too hard on my more intense exercising.

Time heals though. I had to take it easy for several days, but wasn't hungry either, so I lost another pound or two.

How do you folks that live closer to the smokey air deal with it? It's going to be a a relief when cooler weather sets in, but fire season doesn't end here until late November.

So this week I will back off and try to stay relaxed.

How are the rest of you doing?
