Suja, congratulations.

Alasse, that can be so frustrating. I just think of it as normal weight fluctuations.

MsMaven, crawling around with the kids can be a good source of exercise. Kids burn a ton of calories thru play.

Busy, busy week. Without trying I lost another pound. I don't understand why it was so hard to lose a few weeks ago, and now it is dropping off even though I ate leftovers from a party we had. I have a couple of trips coming up soon, and traveling nearly always results in weight gain and lack of exercise, unless you count walking to the gate and crawling around on the floor with little kids. Nevertheless, I've challenged myself to stay even the rest of the month.

Mo, getting older is a bear, isn't it? I finally worked out one really tight hip flexor. Yes, I'm sure some of it is muscle.

Peri, I only weigh periodically. The fluctuations would just make me a little crazy.

Anna, they say it takes about 3 weeks to build a habit. Did you belong to a formal hiking club, or was it just something you did with a group of friends?

Kiwigal, glad you had a good time at Tough Gal.

Sore necks, I do feel for you Shedev.

I completed my Tough Gal challenge. It was a very cold morning with lots of frost. It was a 6km loop with lots of uphills, thick mud, water, tunnels, mild electric shocks, climbing frames etc....I came through it okay, it was fun, I was slow but steady and attacked all the obstacles. We also had a fun weekend away as six women did it together. There were over 2000 on the course so it was a busy track!

I need to be a bit more careful with my snacking, and also with dinner meal choice. I am happy with my exercise, last week three group exercise gym sessions, the event and a game of tennis. Back to the gym this morning. I cater for two growing boys who like and needs lots of carbs but I need to balance their needs vs my own.

And yes Anna, starting back at the gym can be the hardest part!

I finally made to the gym today after two weeks. I really need to reestablish the habit. I haven't really even been hiking this season. I can tell I've lost some muscle. But hey at least going once is better than not at all, right?

Peri, I weigh daily but know full well the fluctuations. I just watch overall trends. My Fitbit chart lets me view weekly, or monthly, or by years. (you don't have to buy a Fitbit to use the foodlog and weight charts, etc by the way - it's all free).
By looking back at my trends, I know to expect to weigh over 120 when I'm in FL and under when living in Tahoe.

I'm only doing medium. I measured one ounce of chocolate, since that is supposed to be a healthy amount, and was surprised that it was more than I guessed. But still...I know most days I was eating more than that. Like double or triple!

So now that I'm joining healthy habits, my goal is to stick with that one ounce. I did most days, but had a few days of cheating. One day I thought I had lost 3 pounds...the next day 2 were back. I don't know how to track weight loss when it can go up and down like that so quickly.

My goal is to lose 6 pounds and hopefully have some of it come off my apple belly. Any advice on how to measure weight loss progress when it fluctuates? Do you weigh daily, or at a set time once a week?

Sorry about the neck. I have similar pain areas. Have for years. I really try and watch certain moves. Hope you get relief soon. Maybe a mini massage? The lunchtime 20 min kind?
I did great with workouts - 2 each of bike, runs, weights, and 1 swim - but food wasn't fabulous. Not terrible either but I could do better. I'm up to a high of 124 I haven't seen in . . . I dunno, years. But some has to be muscle, as I feel pretty toned in general. I am hoping to level back out a few pounds less and the real test will be donning jeans in a couple months.
For now, I'm keeping on keeping on. Trying to master the intake side of things.

Posting early due to 16 hour overnight shift.

I had an ok week. I'm still having some pain in my neck at the base. I'm thinking that it may be due to my body not being used to doing pull ups and dips and my upper traps complaining. I'm just being extra aware of my head position while lifting.

How was your week?
