I added fitness classes to my routine of daily Yoga practice and walking. I felt I needed more strengthening. Sooooooo. Last week I attended 2 fitness classes (this is all that was offered because of July 1 holiday) and 3 Yoga classes. Trying to do Yoga, fitness classes, walking, and taking care of household is a scheduling nightmare.

I am prioritizing my fitness classes over Yoga. I am a pretty bendy person right now. I need more muscles.

Shedev, we were just talking about what next the other day. Like Shannon, I am not advocating for the program but have had a positive experience.

The biggest impact for me is that I no longer have an almost continuous sinus headache. For that alone, it is well worth continuing. I don't feel deprived at all and although I haven't experienced the "tiger blood" energy that is described in the literature, I do feel pretty darn good so I am thinking I will make it either a whole 45 or a whole 60 and will likely not reintroduce dairy since that seems to have been the cause of the sinus issues.

Dianthus, what are your plans for after the whole 30?

Smittie, I try to post these every sunday, but occasionaly my job interferes and I post on Mondays. Chasing children can be its own form of exercise, just engage them in a little active play. I run around with my dogs some.

Anne, I'm sure the weight is temporary.

Robin, Nice reminder to drink lots of water.

Runcarla, nice week of exercise, I love having lots of seasonal produce.

Kellygirl, our week is supposed to get hot so I may be at the bare minimum this week, at least I can eat healthy.

Smittie, kayaking is really great exercise. You are an awesome caregiver.

Kiwigal, I'm sure 4 days cant do too much damage.

MsMaven, I'm really happy that this thread is helpful to you, I've had soe sugar sneaking back in too.

Last week was so-so--I had to get off sugar after the trip. Eating better, and this week I plan to get back on a regular schedule for both meals and exercise, and drop the rest of the weight gained on the trip.

Not sure--I think I've missed reporting in only once or twice in the last six months. This helps keep me honest and on track.

On holiday here and being lazy, I usually exercise well when away but so far four days off. Home again tomorrow, so should be not too much damage done I hope!

Robin, yes, I do get exercise with the kids. Last week I actually went kayaking with them and visited some caves. Funny that I forget that this is exercise too

I like your water-at-desk strategy. I'm going to do a soda-water-at-desk strategy and see how that works out (we have a pop dispenser here).

I got in the bare minimum of exercise last week. It was unusually hot and I was more fatigued than usual so I took it easy. Got my first run of the week in today and am hoping to be more consistent. Hope everyone has a good week!

Easy week with 4 runs and one yoga, but ended it with participation in an Aquathlon - commonly referred to as a 'Surf and Turf' - sprint distance - 750m swim, 5k run.

Food was good. Locally grown fruits and veg are now available, and with a couple of extra days off, I experimented with some new marinades and B-B-Q combinations.

Shedev: Glad you had fun at your cookout. Having fun, spending time with people who's company we enjoy, relaxing...are all things that help us deal with stress; dealing with stress is a healthy habit! :)

Cheryle: Maybe you're eating just the right amount of fruit for your snacks for *your* body. Even if the plan calls for less fruit, everyone's body, and what each person needs at any given time, is different. :)

Smittie: Not sure how young the children are, but are they old enough to do activities with you that have you at least moving around, (playing age appropriate active games, for example)? It's not structured exercise, but all activity is a good thing.

As to me: I did pretty well this past week. Keeping up on my commitment to keep a glass of ice water next to me while I work at my computer. Also ate lots of fiber-rich foods, plenty of fruit, though not as many veggies as i usually like. ate out a fair bit this week, but made sure to have nutrient-rich food each time. Tonight was ice cream, but I chose the coconut milk vegan option rather than the dairy, mainly because my body has been telling me it's enough with the dairy (low-fat cottage cheese and yogurt) already.

It's been too hot to want to exercise much. My partner and I got out for walks all three days this weekend, and I've been doing short bursts of exercise when I think of it - doing sets of squats, holding a forearm plank as long as possible, things like that. Your reply

Well done Cheryle with the walking, and Smittie - I can relate to eating lots of carbs. And I'm sure 4th July indulgence is expected Shedev

I both over ate and ate way too much sugar, as it was DD's birthday and I made a salted caramel cake for the party, cupcakes for the class and meat in a sweet sauce and sticky date pudding (her requests) for her actual birthday!

Not surprisingly I have ended up at a weight not previously encountered unless a baby was involved!
I have taken action and decided to cut out sugar, grains and dairy (except in social situations) for 2 months or until I reach my weight goal.
I have joined the gym and plan to start exercising tomorrow ( I took a week off after going too strong on my free trial the previous week)

Am down a kilo already, though that was probably just carb bloat.

Hi Shedev - Do you post one of these once a week?
I didn't overeat this week, but didn't eat particularly well. Lots of carbs, not enough veggies.
I got in 1 yoga session this week (yesterday), but plan to do at least 2 more before Friday. It was a good session: lots of freaking push ups, and I'm sore!
Because I have a week-on/week-off schedule with the kids (young children), I don't get much exercise on the weeks I have them.

Shedev, there is always room for improvement. The fact that we are trying is what counts. :)

I just checked and did my run/walk of 5.4 miles 5 times this week. That is exceptionally good for me. I usually shoot for 3-4. I am still on the whole 30 and have a week to go. I have followed the rule and not weighed in the time I have been on it. I haven't eaten any non-compliant foods either but have been eating a fair bit of fruit as snacks and the plan suggests avoiding snacks. Nobody is perfect.

Had a fun but indulgent 4th of July cookout. Back to healthy eating as soon as I finish the leftovers. Exercise was ok but there is room for improvement. How was your week?
