I had a really good week walking. I think I had over 100K steps last week. I have been having trouble with my golf game but am persevering. We played 18 after work on Friday, 9 on Saturday morning, 18 on Sunday morning and then I felt I figured out what was wrong near the end of the round so we went and played another course in the afternoon. LOL That was a lot of golf. We played 18 after work today. I forgot my fitbit but Tony logged about 15K steps during the game.

I am still on the whole30 plan but on days that I am really active, I eat a lot more fruit. I am not losing weight but feel good and have good energy so am not sure I care. My doctor has advised me to stay close to my current weight. She said that women who are closer to the high end of the bmi have fewer health issues as they age. :) Is that rationalization at its finest or what?

Haven't seen the film, but the Berkeley Wellness Letter's last issue had an article on the dangers of too much sugar consumption: "Sugar, The Bitter Truth". You can't access it online yet unless you are already a subscriber, but it does update the latest studies on consumption and the alarming amount that is added to American packaged foods. (We are charter subscribers to the Wellness Letter and have always appreciated the balanced explanations and evaluations of studies and evidence.) Most of the time I can do fine with a limited amount of sugar--it's the period from Halloween to after New Year's that does me in. And weddings. And vacations.

Good week overall. I'm getting better and better at doing the leg lifts my MD recommended and am getting stronger. Tomorrow I go see the podiatrist about the arthritis in my feet and I'll find out what I can do about it.

Funny, as my hair gets grayer I get more offers of help with groceries, bird food, etc., but I am stronger than I've been for a decade and like to load stuff into the car myself just to prove that the exercises work.

Carla "vanilla ice cream day"!! Is that really a thing!!?

Kiwigal, I haven't seen that sugar film, but I have read his blog, so I'm pretty certain about what the film will say. Rather hard to put into practice, I agree. And some of the stuff in his book (I've only looked at it in a bookshop) is pretty severe - eg no roasted vegetables.

I always wonder with these things that demonstrate the danger of a certain intake (or sugar in this case), how much less the danger is for a reduced intake. Most women in Australia don't eat that much. Is it dangerous to have 1/3 of that? I know there are WHO ( I think) guidelines saying no more than 6 tsp a day (I know I am well under some days, and quite a bit over on occasions) and 3tsp for kids (I'm afraid mine are over that, though I wouldn't characterise their diets as particularly high sugar by most people's standards) But how much worse would it be to have a bit more than those recommendations, but not as much as the guy was talking about??

Now as to me, I had one of those higher sugar days on Saturday, when I had a baking day! Apart from that have backed off on the no eating dairy/grains thing as I am just finding it too hard in winter. I introduced GF oats back into my life on the weekend (no sugar!) after 19 odd months and they still tasted wonderful. Weight isn't falling off but is going down a little, and a more moderate approach seems more sustainable.

I got in 3 days at they gym last week (2 runs, 1 spin) and did a park run with DD7 on Saturday. She did the 5km in 30:46 which I am very impressed with. Fastest 5km time of any of my kids so far, and at a younger age.

Had a week off work, and great weather (though a little hot). Easy week after the last triathlon. 2 runs, 3 yoga. Lots of outdoor time working in the garden. Had the time to cook up some really nice dinners - so nutrition was good, though I did get into the ice cream when DH insisted we celebrate 'vanilla ice cream day'. Really?

Sorry that you aren't feeling back to normal yet, Shedev. That's a drag for sure. I'm sure the vitamin C will kick in and you will be feeling better very soon!
@kiwigal: Those velodromes are frightening. I don't think I could ever work up the nerve to cycle on one of those. Do those bikes even have brakes?
My week was unspectacular. I only managed to run three days, I think, and my runs were sucky to say the least. I was tired so I took it easy but every run was a grind. Fortunately, my light week seemed to pay off and I had a good run this am. Hope everyone has a good week.

You've had a bad run Shedev.

I had a good week mostly. Three gym sessions, one park session, one casual bike ride and.....I first track riding session at the velodrome near us. It was a work do, so just a chance to try out riding a fixed wheel bike on a sloping velodrome. I am always nervous about being strapped in so it was an experience for me, but I loved it and got a real adrenilin rush!!!!!

Saw "That Sugar Film" as well. It was interesting although I was aware of most of the information. It is a case of doing it huh!!

I'm feeling better, but not 100%. Worked a lot this week but now I have a couple days off to rest. Exercise didn't happen, food was ok. Ate lots of fruit.
