Today at the gym before I started my squats, my trainer asked if I was squeezing my glutes at that point. I said no and he said "Looking Good!". Made my day!

Working out with trainer twice a week despite the 2 snowstorms and power outages in our area. No more back pain and working on loosening and stretching some muscles as well as strengthening others (PSOAS and glutes). Working hard on straightening out my lower half as my back spasm back in late December played havoc with my hip alignment and my lower body has been compensating.

I spent the last week in bed recovering from a sinus infection. Not fun!!!! I finally went to a Yoga class yesterday and plan to go to one today. I am slowly working back up to walking short distances.

Revved up a Fitbit— prolly very archaic now as everyone on the planet had one before I- to start up healthy eating and excercise program.
Longer days will help—only 4 more days until DST but who’s counting?!!!

Am trying to break through some diet barriers myself— understanding how I sabotage myself and why. And same for exercise excuses.

I've been sidelined for almost a week with sciatica (self-diagnosed, but I had it when I was pregnant). It's a challenge to feel like working out when your day is filled with pain and discomfort, and it's given me a renewed appreciation for those who push on when the body is not pain-free. I haven't succeeded in that regard but am headed to the gym today for a spin class. Good timing for this post: just last night I made (yet another) vow to give myself one last crack at getting into better shape and dropping some weight. I want to do something I can be proud of : working hard and staying focused and committed to achieving a goal instead of bailing part-way and "being kind to myself"and falling prey to a variety of excuses for not staying the course. New mantra: I want to achieve, and be proud of myself.

No resolutions, but I'm using the data from the fitness journal I kept in 2017 to inform my fitness activities for 2018. So far I've matched or slightly exceeded last year's gym time for January and February. March has started off well with 4/5 days so far.

I've been mixing things up the last two weeks with a couple of outdoor runs when we had some nice days, a cycle fit class, yin yoga, and weight training. Haven't been in the pool since November, though, and I have an open water swim the end of May! Yikes!

We’re now into the third month of the year and spring is, theoretically, around the corner. Did any of you make NY resolutions and if so, how are they holding up?

I just came off of a four-day gym hiatus due to a holiday, as well as social obligations over the weekend. I still haven’t been as consistent as I’d like to be, but was pretty happy with today’s workout: 90min of elliptical, followed by squat triples (135lb, 155lb, 175lb) and Romanian deadlifts (3 sets of 10 @ 155lb). It was extremely difficult to stay awake afterward! I’ll aim for a long walk tomorrow, since my legs will probably be too fatigued for much else.

How was your week?
