I'm late to this thread and haven't been around YLF as much. I'm on day 26 of the whole30 and overresearching it seems to be my new hobby! I'm feeling a few benefits but I'm also quite keen for it to be over, as I miss some foods, or their convenience, and I'm also over the volume of cooking required. The amount of protein and fat you are supposed to eat is huge, and I feel like I eat way more than the rest of the family, at least for breakfast and lunch.

It affects running too, though it is supposed to improve and has a little. My 5k time is still over a minute slower than it was prior to starting.

In other news, I keeping on with 3 runs, 2-3 weight sessions (only about 30 mins) and cycling to work sometimes.
I'd like the weather to be a little cooler (though we are having a cool summer by our standards) as I sleep better in a cold night, and I'd also like not having to get up before 6am to fit a run in the day. The balance between sleep and exercise is a hard one.

I'm doing the same as Danusia. Too much sitting: commute + work = back pain. Dead lifts and RDL's have become therapeutic. ,

Missed a few workouts due to the need to shovel snow and then overnighting in the Big City! My trainer insisted that I get proper shoes for weight lifting - no more standing on the 2.5 lb plates during squats - so I visited the Nike and Adidas stores and ended up with a pair of Adidas 'Power Perfect III'. Not as exciting as fashion shoes, but necessary!

Working my glutes hard this week and guess what?! - Lower back pain all gone. No morning stiffness. Doing the right stretches and really working the abs and glutes (strong glutes according to my trainer means less back pain).

Feel much better finally. Trying to get back into a regular routine. I admire those of you who have undertaken such vigorous goals. At may age, my goals are to achieve and maintain a healthier weight and a reasonable amount of exercise that doesn't cause flare ups of old injuries.

Gained and lost same three pounds in January. Goal to lose 5 in February but it isn't going well. Much harder now, but with more calories burned and feeling better, I hope to achieve more.

Pretty much off sugar until today when came across a pop up store selling Argentine alfajores--a kind cookie with a filling. I bought some--taste nothing like the authentic Argentine alfajores--these just last of sugar and white flour. Lesson learned.

Mammogram today, just one side for a 6-mo check up. The radiologist thought she saw something last summer, had to have an ultrasound, but so far nothing has changed and it is considered benign. I was way too busy to worry about it. My first call back in 30 years of mammograms. I have friends who've had to go back several times--always difficult for them.

I am enjoying the Yoga Studio in St. Augustine. The teachers are so good. Monday is my favourite. Every morning at 9 am there is a 1.5-hour vinyassa practice that ranges from very challenging to moderately challenging. I try to go 5 times a week. I am walking more and am working up to 10,000 steps a day.
Sophie has been sick. We just took her to the vet. She has an ear infection. Hopefully, things will settle down with her.

I started an 8 week 5k race training program. It's not a Couch to 5k as I'm not a beginning runner but a program for an intermediate runner to get in shape for a 5k race. I've done several races in the past and find them good incentive to make sure I actually get out and run. I've been doing it for 2 weeks and I'm enjoying that it's forcing me to be consistent with my workouts.

I tried out a different yoga class nearby but wasn’t feeling it, so I may end up signing up for a weekly class ‘in the city’ later this month. Angie’s rave reviews, along with the enthusiasm of some of my friends, lead me to believe that the right class is out there.

In the interim, I had a few long cardio sessions, and hit the main muscle groups once. Nothing exciting. It’s been difficult to make it to the gym Thursdays/Fridays through Sundays, resulting in rather lopsided weeks of burnout/rest—hoping to change that this week by getting outside on Sunday morning. Thanks to a Lululemon discount code, my workout and to/from capsule got a serious upgrade, and I’m excited to begin wearing the new items.

I’ve also (re)started the Headspace meditation program and am making it my goal to meditate daily this week. There. Accountability.

How was everyone’s week?
