I kept thinking “oh I did nothing this week!” But I did!
- went skiing (downhill)
- went to play bubble soccer (decent cardio workout).

No gym. Hoping to get in Friday evening.

Diet really good! Eating twice as much greens, and half as much white flour.

I'm keen on looking at my fitbit too!

In other news, I finished the whole30 yesterday. Am down 2kg. Doing a "reintroduction" Did a fitness appraisal a the gym yesterday and haven't made any progress there (i.e., bodyfat percentage) though I am comparing with mid November, i.e., before the Christmas/ January eating season!

Got a flat tyre on my bike and walked my bike 7km into work yesterday!
Skipping today's run but mostly keeping up my 3 a week and some gym visits.

Add me to the "watch" list! I use my fitbit to motivate me on the days that I do not go to the gym and try to put in my steps before it reminds me.

I am switching up my workouts to late mornings instead of afternoons. I currently go in at 3pm and workout until around 5 pm. (gym is closed from 12- 3pm) I have found that I have no time to stretch afterwards as I have to head home and start dinner and am usually tired by the time dinner is over. The gym also gets extremely busy around 4:30pm.

So I have decided to go in at 10 am twice a week. This will still allow me enough time to stretch afterwards either at the club or when I get home. I have found that the lack of proper stretching has not been good for my back. I have discussed this with my massage therapist and trainer today and hope this will work. My only dilemma is what to eat in the morning before my workout that will sustain me. I feel I should eat between 7 and 7:30 am and possibly have either a yogurt or banana around 1/2 hr before working out (Luckily the gym is less than 2 miles away). Since my workout at the club is primarily strength training, I was wondering what I should be eating for breakfast so that it will sustain me through my workout. I normally have cereal with milk and a piece of fruit (I am not a big breakfast eater).

HAH. I enjoyed your watch story too, GF. Meditating is hard, and a few times a week is excellent.

Kelly, you sound active and healthy. And snacking is good for the soul.

Style Fan, HIGH FIVE my yoga sister. I do a rigorous heated Vinyasa class four times a week too. It's hectic because the instructors are VERY competent. The yogis too. I'm challenged and I love it. Like you, I also walk a doggie daily - and shop with clients. I lead an active life, and we are activity twins. Great to hear that your Birkie inserts are working.

I take a huge interest in cooking and food, so that's always good a home. It's a hobby and creative outlet.

I love your story, GF. I am in Florida until the end of March and enjoy the freedom of walking outside without spending 30 minutes putting layers on.
I have been going to Yoga 4 to 5 times per week. The class is 1.5 hours and is a fairly vigorous vinyasa practice. I love that studio and the teachers.
I am trying to walk for 45 minutes a day. I want to do 10,000 steps but I am not there yet. My feet are not in great shape. On a positive note, my new Birkenstock inserts are working out really well.

I like your watch story. A great reminder for moving around especially for those of us with desk jobs. That reminds me I have a fit bit around here somewhere. Maybe I should look for it!

I'm chiming in for accountability on the diet front. My diet is decent but I've been snacking more than usual and I need to cut it out. That's my goal for the next few weeks. I go to the gym after work so if I work, I work out. Exceptions to that rule are few and far between but even consistency can't make up for too many snacks! I've been running on the weekends more consistently too--maybe that's making me feel entitled to more snacks.

Wishing everyone a successful week!

Alternatively: Healthy But Infrequent Habits

I’ve become a slave to my watch and its move and exercises rings. My move goal is quite modest, but impossible to achieve if you work from home and don’t actively take breaks to walk around. The exercise ring, meanwhile, has been repeatedly closed by me running on the spot in the kitchen, and doing step-ups on our rickety step stool. Those moments make me recall a conversation with my good friend, who believed that fitness watches tended to reflect what people did, but didn’t actively encourage people to exercise more. In my case, it has often made the difference of doing nothing vs something when I couldn’t make it to the gym (or didn’t feel like it).

In the last two weeks, I’ve been focused on cardio and endurance, and enjoy the high from medium-intensity, steady state activity (aka the elliptical on a high resistance setting for 30-80min). Weights have unfortunately taken a backseat for various reasons, though I’m going to try and squat tomorrow.

On the meditation front, I haven’t succeeded in making it a daily habit, but I’ve done it several times per week, and am able to remind myself periodically to focus on the breath.

How was your week?
