I went back to running this last week, or at least jogging with some walking in it! i also made it to half a pump class and walked the extra to turn one of my walks to the bus from a 7 min to a 20 minute one most weekdays. Last Sat I went to an hour long spin class that I absolutely love and was hoping to go again today....

And then I got hit with a feeling I haven't had much since 2013, when I started working full time for the first time in ages, had moved towns and about every 4 Saturdays spent the morning lying on the couch. So spin class wasn't happening. I dropped DD at her gym class and then came back and lay on the couch (and read 1 1/2 books!). I regularly have a little nap and lie down on Sat afternoon but sat morning is different. In 2013 I was diagnosed with anemia and through that celiac disease so I was a bit worried to be having a repeat - hopefully it is just me adjusting to increasing my exercise and going back to work after a long holiday.

Deborah, I'm nodding my head about finding what works for each of us. Way to go with those KGs.

Shipskitty, I feel like I'm gaining some traction.

Citygirldc, maybe the 10miler is just the thing to give you the jolt you need. Hope your weather gets better soon.

MsMaven, it's strange how much difference a little weight can make. Send me some of that warmth.

Staysfit, it's great that you are getting to see old friends. Eating on the road can be really tough.

Amiable, you may be losing slower because you are gaining muscle. Increased stamina can be a good way to measure change.

Lara, it's good to change it up. Sometimes it will take some time to find what will work best for you.

I have been racking my brain, not understanding why the weight is not coming off. I would like to drop 10lbs, ideally 15. I exercise and eat right.

I have been doing a great deal of reading on the subject and one day I had the TV tuned into the Live Well Network, where they did a segment on exercise for us older gals/guys ( around 50+) and I was enlightened. I am now changing my exercise intensity. I have reset my target heart rate based on my age and resting heart rate so that I can work out harder instead of the one where you subtract your age from 220. The show also focused that if you can sing or talk while working out you are not working out hard enough. So I will see if switching my intensity will help do the trick.

They also say it is better to work out first thing in the morning before you eat, but I find that working out later in the afternoon works best for me. So don't know if I will change this or not yet.

I'm only down another pound - which is a lot slower than I lost weight the first few weeks of the year. So I've started tracking calories to see if I'm eating too much or too little, and to a bit more careful. I'm about half way through my original 27 pound weight loss goal, so overall, doing great.

I noticed yesterday that I have plenty of energy - more than I have in the past, I think. I took the kids sledding, and climbed up the hills and slid down with them for the whole time we were out. We were all exhausted, but it felt good to move and have a bit of stamina.

I've been working out a half hour a day, and plan to continue that. It may not actually be enough, but it's sustainable for me, so I'm hoping it does end up being enough.

We were on the road for a week which makes exercise and eating challenging. I did do some Yoga and we ate salads from the salad bar at the grocery store most days. Now we have arrived at St Aug in Florida and are going to one of our favourite Yoga Studios. So happy to see the wonderful teachers and many of the same students from last year. Our plan is to go daily to Yoga and walk daily. Yeah!

This morning was a challenging class after not practicing regularly. Many of the regular students remember us from last year. What a nice feeling! :)

Doing pretty well on eating except for one party, when I overdid it. Working out going fine, but I'm not walking enough. Too much sitting.

For some reason I had a lot of bloating and weight going up and down, but by the end of January I lost two pounds of holiday overindulgence. I wouldn't think just a few pounds makes such a difference, but when it all goes on the belly, it does,

The weather is nice--in the 70s the next few days, so will break up sitting with some walking. My son lives near Chicago, and I'm getting lots of snow photos on my Facebook feed. I have no excuse not to get outside and move around.

I just signed up for the Cherry Blossom 10-miler to get me motivated in exercise again. The weather has been so blah here, with NO snow, but constant dreary and rainy weather. It really affects my mood and exercise doesn't always help. Food is always a struggle at night, but I try to balance it throughout the day, just in case I go food crazy later.

I joined the gym the middle of last week and have been 3 times so far, doing an hour each time. I'm also still walking to and from work everyday, only 15 minutes either way but every little helps and doing Zumba Gold on Mondays. Greyhound walking is becoming a regular weekend jaunt, I usually do 4 20 minute strolls up the lane with a motley assortment of hounds.

Everyone's diets sound so healthy, this is probably where I trip over but I've been trying to up my fruit and veg intake and cut down on the chocolate and biscuits x

Still pretty much on track with food but have not got my butt into gear over exercise as still not feeling 100% although I am making a conscious effort to do more stairs at work and walk around more at lunchtime. Progressing slowly. Not worrying too much about carbs just making sure plenty of veg and some quality protein and cutting out all but two small healthy snacks during the day.

Kiwigal - sounds like you are on track.

Gradfashionista - hang in there - it may be your body is still adjusting to everything. Fingers crossed you see some changes soon.

Runcarla - you are really inspiring! Hanging out for cooler weather to make the swap over from salads to vegie loaded soups at lunch.

Shedev - sounds like you are really starting to get some traction!

Dianeg - look after that back - too easy to overdo things when you are coming back from an injury.

Deborah - I think there is a lot to what you are saying about finding the best way. Exercise helps shape my body but weight-loss seems always about what i eat regardless of how much I do.

So inspired by those of you who are getting the exercise in! Still been very hot so no conducive to exercise for me, but I am back at work today after 3 weeks holiday and I am taking short breaks morning, lunch and afternoon to take a brisk walk around the block.

Food management is going well and I have dropped 4 kg in four weeks.

Diane, sorry about your back, trust it all heals up quickly.

Carla you are amazing! Sounds like you love your physical activities.

Grandfashionista, hang in there:) I am following a high protein, low carb eating with very minimal exercise and the weight is coming off. Other things haven't worked, this seems to really suit me. I wonder sometimes if we need to find what works best for our bodies i.e not all weight loss methods are equal.. if you know what I mean:)

Run Carla, the yoga sounds wonderful. I'll get to do outdoors some in April, more in March. Our spring can be unpredictable.

Gradfashionista, our bodies just let it go in their own time. Maybe time to sell or put away the skirts that are making you feel unfab and get one that does.

3 runs, 2 swims, 1 bike, 1 yoga class.

Love, love, LOVE the yoga! Never did yoga before, so this is all new. The teacher calls it Yin yoga, and we hold the stretches for a long time or move through the poses v-e-r-y slowly. Some class time is devoted to using foam rollers for myofascial release. (Feels like I had a massage afterwards!) I have my best night's sleep Tuesday night's after yoga!

Food was good. While DH was out of town, DS made a beautiful minestrone soup full of veg. Mmmmmm!

We got snow this week, and the weather is colder (-15C ish) but not as cold as where I used to live! Folks around here say they move to out of doors training (swim-bike-run) the end of April...2-3 more months...how about where you live? Does the weather make it harder to get in some fitness activities?

Well, it sound like you're doing ok Shedev. I guess you'll soon get the food amounts sorted. I had a pretty good week. I ate loads of veg and healthy proteins. Had more stodgy/sweet stuff over the weekend though, as we were out a lot, but doing a big shop tomorrow and plan on stocking up on more of the good healthy stuff. I did well on workouts last week, but I seem to have tweeked a muscle at waist level round my back during last Fridays workout, so I need to do exercises that don't impact the area for a couple of days whilst it settles and I treat it with Ibuprofen gel.

Basically you eat 4 meals that consist of a palm size meat, a vegetable, a fruit, a carb, (these are cupped hand sized) and a thumb sized serving of healthy fat. It is as much about fixing nutrient deficiencies as cutting calories.

The exercise programs are pretty aggressive. Now that I've had some time to get used to the nutrition part, I'm ready to step up the workouts.

Does anyone else just feel like hibernating? I'm typing this from under a blanket.

Even with a very lazy type of week, I lost a few lbs. I'm back at the my normal weight before I gained 10 overnight. If I gained it overnight, why does it take 2 months to get rid of it? I'm going for about 10 more.

PN has been pretty easy for me so far. My biggest problem has been that it is more food than I was eating before so most of my off plan was skipping a meal.
