Christmas cookie blur here, and I have no regrets!

Big accomplishment: The trainer at my gym told me I was doing a particular lift perfectly! I am the most uncoordinated person you can imagine, and it's a little embarrassing to take such a long time (months) to lift properly, so I'm celebrating this victory!

I've also bumped up my running pace and am able to hold the higher pace through the workout without being exhausted the rest of the day.

Gradfashionista: Nice job with the bench press and staying consistent with your workouts!

Anne: Congrats on your 5k PB!

Runcarla: Sounds like your weight training is making you both stronger and leaner!

This is such a hard time of the year for food. I'm trying hard to resist baking cookies but it is so hard to break old habits. Little grandson has just discovered what a cookie is. He is in awe.

OMG I got on the scale this morning and it was a horrifying number. O.M.G. I am declaring a state of emergency. Working out is challenging because we have events almost every evening, but I am determined to get a grip on the food...

Gradfashionista - I so relate to the challenges of getting out to the gym in the cold and the dark! If it wasn't for my training partner (DS#2) I would probably stay home watching bad Christmas TV and eating cookies!
Work has been a bear, too, implementing agency wide technological change and a vacation blackout November and December. Gah!
Burned off extra frustration at the gym, and slept better for it!

Some plantar fasciitis means I'm getting my cardio in the pool and on the bike. Weight training 2-3 times a week. DS is going to kick my butt this weekend because my squats are stalled (psychological) but upper body weights have all gone up. My weight training is for my sport, so modified strong lifts and lots of glute/ham work.

Weight is always the same with me, but once a week I've been weighing in on a scale, which does body composition. While bone and H20 has stayed the same, muscle has increased and % fat is down! (currently at 28.1% muscle and 23.6% fat.)

Hi GF - I'm so impressed!! Well done on going out to the gym in the cold and dark. I can't really empathize on how difficult that much be\ (from my Australian perspective of winters that don't go below freezing).

My personal triumph was getting a PB for 5km - over a minute faster than my previous (in the same week as one for 10km!) I was surprised, as most of my 5km parkruns are done with kids so a little slower - they both opted out that week.

I'm also finally back to normal with my iron, which must have helped.

Foodwise, I made fudge and that involved a lot of eating fudge!! Also had my work Christmas party (3 rum cocktails, but not much food as not much was gluten free) Amazingly I have so far kept from putting on weight.

My kids are doing the rest of the christmas baking while I am at work, so hopefully I'll avoid previous years' gingerbread mixture induced tummy aches!

I managed to squeeze in three workouts this past week, one of which included benching 10 triples @ 115lb. It felt like a personal record! For once, bench presses have become my favourite lift. Other highlights include squatting (and failing) reps at 180lbs, and comfortably deadlifting triples at 245lb.

This week's biggest accomplishment, by far, was just making it to the gym--walking out into the cold at much-later-than-ideal hours is more challenging than the workout itself. It might be motivation that gets you to begin a new program, but it's determination that keeps you from stopping.

Foodwise, the week was a bit of a cupcake blur.

How was your week?
