Yes, Anne. I go to yoga three times a week now - I love it soooo much. Enjoy that gingerbread!

Gradfashionista, that's an interesting question. I LOVE to cook (I use to have a catering business when we lived in France), grocery shop, eat, eat out, and entertain. And we do a lot of that. I cook most days, and prepare yummy lunches and brekkies too. We do food in a big way at the Cox Castle. I guess I specialize in Asian food, Vegetables, soups, desserts, and making healthy food taste tasty. I can't handle boing food and absolutely eat carbs. I don't eat or cook mammals though, so it's only chicken and seafood on the meat side of things. And I also don't drink alcohol or coffee at all.

Shedev I know that situation where you don't get to overeat because most stuff has gluten! My GF brownies are a hit too. I've tried lots of different recipes and they generally work, probably because normal brownies don't have much flour in them anyway. So self controlled to only have one! I always eat way too many while mixing and trimming!

Angie - you've upped your yoga - didn't you used to do 2?

Xtabay - just not drinking may help in itself too. I'm not a big drinker and one reason is that I would rather cut (or cut down, in our case) our alcohol than food, if I had to choose

Diana - hope you stay well

I'm just trying to maintain with weight over the festive period - am being tempted to eat way too much gingerbread!! Need to cut down on evening eating as it has crept in again. I'm pretty much back to my historical normal weight range, if at the higher end of that.

My leg is a little sore since the 10 K I did the weekend before last, so haven't run much (just 5km parkrun on Sat and 4km during last week and none at all this week).

I rode to work yesterday and today, and 2 days last week and did a spin class once each week.
My gym closes down for about 10 days (like many businesses here in Australia) so will try to get one more weights session in (did one on mon) today and then just do running and cycling during the closedown period.

How much to relax, how much to sleep in (if I even can, as I have been waking very early) how much exercise when really the only possible time (outside) in the Australian summer heat, is early in the morning? These are the balancing acts for me to think about over the next little bit!

I've been indulging in Christmas goodies, but trying to balance it out with plenty of walking and yogalates. I already want to lose 10 pounds, and I'm trying not to add to that over the holidays. Fortunately, the weather has been great for getting outside for long walks. It helps that I no longer drink alcohol, because that always lowered my will power during the holiday madness!

Kind of upset I went up three pounds in the last week--so didn't want to do that, but between gift packages and candy gifts, and having them close while we're watching TV--too much temptation.

I'm going to work on being moderate in the next week, but my daughter-in-law is a great cook and we love what she makes. So will work on portion control. Giving myself a pep talk here.

I'm glad the brownies were a hit, Shedev.

Angie, what are some of your favourite dishes to prepare at home?

This week was somewhat chaotic. The conference went well, but I wasn't able to work out for four days (aside from walking). I came home exhausted and over the course of the week, my weight shot up 6lb. It's noticeable and I feel quite discouraged about it at the moment, but oh well.

I've actually managed to keep up with working out on a somewhat regular schedule this month, but there's definitely been too many treats around. People keep giving us delicious baked goods and we've been going out for a lot of meals/parties. ;) But like Angie, we have been trying to make lighter and healthier fare at home to balance it out.

My main goal this holiday season is honestly not to get sick. We both already had some kind of bug a week ago, and now my husband has a doozy of a cold. I'm trying very, very hard not to come down with it as well.

Glad your brownies went down well, Shedev. They should! I make dairy-free brownies that go down well too. Brownies are a crowd-pleaser, aren't they? Good that you enjoyed your Xmas party.

There has been lots of over-eating over the last month at the Cox Castle - and this will carry on till January because we are huge foodies and very social. But the habit is well balanced with healthy and light food at regular intervals so we feel good. Going to yoga three times a week and loving it as usual. Walks with Sam are good for the soul too.

This week has been so busy that workouts have been bad. Yesterday was our work Christmas party. The only gluten free thing was brownies I made, so no overeating. I was lucky to get a brownie. My coworkers scarfed them down. It was a nice party though. How are your Christmas preparations going? Anybody still having time to work out?

Thank you everyone who reads and responds to this thread. Have a merry and safe Christmas.
