Thanks for the responses.

Anne - I remember the swooping magpies in Australia and being quite frightened. Biking will be a good option with your knees.

Kerlyn - I am the only one in my family that likes brussel sprouts - they are a contentious vegetable. Yours sound delicious.

Grad Fashionista - rehab is such a slow process, but it sounds as though you are making progress. I do light weights and mostly high reps as part of my three day a week bootcamp.

Helen - I am interested in the helmet variations. Yes having lovely early clear mornings made exercise easy. I was waking at 5am every day due to the time difference so it was a pleasure to get out there.

Kerlyn, I'm with you on the Brussels sprouts - yum! Though if they are boiled until they are grey, as they were served in my childhood, count me out.
Anne, good to hear you're back on your bike. Watch out for those magpies! Hopefully if you were ok today, there aren't any on your route. Do the Northern hemisphere fabbers know about the anit-magpie helmet modifications? I think they must be very Australian, and I'll post a pic if others want.
Sally, I'm pleased you had a lovely holiday in the Sunshine State. And that you had good weather for all your activities.
Gradfashionista, I'd like to hear some of your dessert ideas, if you are willing to share.

Long-distance commuting and holidays have compounded my gym laziness as of late, making the past few weeks less active than usual. I made it out to the gym in my partner's city last Friday, yesterday, and hope to make it there tomorrow.

The slow-and-steady approach to rehab has been going well, although I'm still hoping to see a specialist this season. I had to reset my heavy lifts to around 25% of pre-injury numbers. After doing this for about a month, and taking longer breaks between individual workouts, I'm now able to back squat my bodyweight with a low bar and excellent depth, and to do several sets of 10 reps @ 155 of conventional deadlifts without pain. The challenge will be resuming sumo deadlifts without feeling the lower right side of my back pull.

Food-wise, I've been experimenting with low carb desserts lately and the results have been tasty. To be continued.

Great work Sally. Lots of exercise in your holiday! Glad the capsule worked out well.

Kerlyn - sounds good. I was never a great fan of brussel sprouts (My mum seemed to serve them every single night for a month on a trip to Englad), but do like them with butter, so olive oil sounds good too (They are expensive in Australia, though, so I never buy them here)

Speaking of sunshine, spring weather has finally arrived, though it's quite variable (today is forecast for 31 (much hotter than for ages) but by Fri back down to 19). I rode to work today for the first time this year, enjoying the sunshine and being outdoors. Well at least til I remembered the possiblity of swooping magpies (I came through safe)

Last week I did my 2 gym weight workouts, or maybe 3. My family was away, so I went to the gym longer and did more. Parkrun (5km) on sat.

I lost weight the first few days the family were away and I didn't have to do "proper meals". Then I went completely the other direction with a meal out with an old friend (I almost never do something like that on a weeknight; it felt so novel), cooking for the family when they got home and celebrations for DH's birthday. Plus I got a bit "don't care-ish" about the whole thing. So of course my weight is up quite a lot now.

I haven't been sleeping the best either, and knees were a bit sore, so step counts have been down. Don't want to let my stepathalon team down, so hope they recover.

Great job, Sally! No doubt sunshine makes it easier to exercise! I've not done as well with my workouts lately, but I've been eating very healthy. I've been trying to incorporate a wider variety of veggies lately. This week I sautéed some shaved brussels sprouts in olive oil, S & P, and cayenne pepper. Delicious!

Well I am home after a lovely week in Queensland. It was a mostly healthy time - we did have a few crisps and wine, but I exercised every day, there was lots of walking and only one ice cream!!

Home again, and it is raining. Gorgeous sunny skies make it easier to exercise that is for sure!

I walked, ran, went to theme parks (lots of walking), hiked in a National Park, swam, and did some park exercises.

My wardrobe capsule worked out brilliantly - I wore everything at least once, and felt appropriately dressed for every occasion. I also had a lovely meet up with Cococat.

How are your weeks going?
