I've been keeping up with my steps but not much else this week; food has not been horrible but not stellar either. Am trying to use up food in the fridge/freezer/pantry before we go away for the holidays.

I'm likely going to do the Whole Life Challenge starting in January. It's paleo-inspired but doesn't have to be full-on paleo; there are three options for diet. You also track exercise, sleep etc., daily to score your points. Anyone else interested? We could make up a team.
https://www.wholelifechallenge.com/

Ok, well I haven't posted to this thread in a while because I fell off the wagon and gained 7 lbs between Aug - Now due to lack of exercise and poor diet. I suck. But it's ok, because I'm getting back into the swing of things and will be doing a bodyPump class at the Goodlife tomorrow. This is a weightlifting class, to music. I remember not loving this type of thing, but I think I was lifting too much.

I'm going to go easy tomorrow.
I'm also eating way cleaner, as they say.

Anne--your workouts sound great and varied. Don't worry about the numbers, they'll go up with time. I've found that using micoplates (.25lb and 1.25lb) helped a lot, because the minimum 5lb jumps at the gym were too much.

Nice thing about going to someone else's house for holidays is you don't bring back a lot of fattening stuff. My DH is still moaning about having left all the extra wine there. Better without it in the house right now.

I was careful about portion size on Thanksgiving, at least until I got to the after dinner drinks and candy. Staying steady but not doing well on exercise.

You remind me shedev that I want to check my blood pressure. Last month I went to the dentist and it was a bit high for me. We have a monitor around here that my DH was using, although he hasn't lately. thanks for that.

I've been blessed with low blood pressure and cholesterol all my life, but I know it can change at my age.

That's fascinating about the dairy. My mum wants me to start taking hawthorn. Says it's good for the arteries, but I have my dads genes... I don't think it'll help.

You are having a bad run with injuries Anne.

Interesting Shedev about the blood pressure- sounds like being off dairy or keeping minimal is a good idea.

GradFashionista - you are lifting some impressive weights!

Well no Thanksgiving to negotiate here - and it has been rather hot - however I have been tired which tends to lead to snacking for me. Four hard workouts last week plus one walk with a friend.

Interesting re the blood pressure - dairy connection Shedev.

GF - I am always impressed by your strength workouts, though I have no real criteria for judging, as they are so far above what I could even think of attaining, let alone do.

I've had a bit of a hiccup in my own strength training. Last Wednesday I was in the gym and tried to get a 20kg barbell down from a squat rack so I could do a deadlift - and in getting it down I hurt my wrist. I feel so silly because I did this a few years ago (other wrist). So now I've put myself pretty much off almost all weights until it gets better. Am holding off cycling to work for a while too, though I'll go to spin class tomorrow.

On the up side, I ran a personal best for 5km on Saturday's park run, which I was very pleased about.

I ran 8km this morning.

Weightwise I'm holding the same amount. I think I need to cut down on the amount of carbs I eat at night. I often get home and the plate is already served for me and I just go with it.

I have been on iron tablets for just over a week now and am dealing with the usual side effects. Hope I can stop after a month is up.

That's great! How much dairy were you eating before, and what kind of dairy was it?

Lots of great food over the long weekend. I ate more than I should've, but everything was healthy and I stayed clear of the sugars.

Due to traveling and deadlines, Wednesday was my last work out, but it produced the best results to date:
Squatted a single @ 190lbs, benched a single @ 130lbs and deadlifted a triple @ 275lbs.

Back to regular exercise and eating this week.

I broke even for the holiday. My dairy free foods turned out pretty well. An unexpected side effect of going dairy free is that my blood pressure is lowered. It was in the normal range before.
