Nearly everything on my Thanksgiving menu is adjusted for dietary reasons! There will be 8 of us: 2 vegans, 4 non-vegetable eaters, one "no fat, but bring on the sugar" eater, and me (no dairy, no egg, no grains). It's going to be interesting, but I think everyone will have plenty of options:-).

GF- I am so impressed (says she who is deadlifting and squatting about 40 Lb) Were you ever a weakling like me? I reckon with strength like that I'd take a slight weight gain!

Citygirl - your workouts were amazing so I'm sure even a cut down version will be impressive to most of us

Sally - I hear you on the carb dominant meals - I find this happening too. So easy and inexpensive to whip up something with rice (or baked beans, or pancakes because there is sour milk or yoghurt to use up) - and like you I have hungry active kids who need filling up which can tilt the meals in that direction.

I was planning on making a low-carb, dairy-free pumpkie pie (pumpkin and coconut cream) for our hosts, but work is lagging, and I'm not sure there'll be enough time. I might just bring a homemade spicy nut mixture.

Had a great workout on Thursday with a few personal bests!

Squatted a single 187.5lb, benched a single 128.5lbs and deadlifted a triple at 270lbs. Weight is slightly up, but since this is the strongest I've been relative to my bodyweight, I'm ok with that.

Shedev - that is a smart move, there are so many options now.
Diana - ouch, take care.
Anne - well done, plateauing is very normal.
Stylefan - that sounds very active
MsMaven - hope your energy comes back again.

I hope you all enjoy Thanksgiving - we don't celebrate it but it is a lovely tradition.

Steady here- a few easy carb dominant meals slipping in though. This is a very busy time of year for me so food can be more rushed, not always a good thing. I am being consistent with exercise though and trying to be sensible most of the time.

Wasn't feeling well last week--not really sick but no energy--better now. I took it easy on exercise. Not drinking anything with alcohol and I'm back to where I want to be.

Thanksgiving will be with family at their house, so no control over what is served. There are too many women in the kitchen there, so I leave them to it as I am the aunt and not one of the Moms. Our assignment this year is to bring See's candy and the wine. No leftovers either. I try for limit the size of portions.

If the weather is decent I will be running around and playing with the little boys. We had a great basketball and treehouse romp last year. I'm getting to the end of my tree-climbing days.

Shedev, I hope going dairy free continues to work and that Thanksgiving won't be too hard an adaption for you. I haven't celebrated it for 18 years (not being in North America) but it was fun when we did, which was in Japan with US and Canadian ex-pats

Style Fan - Montreal sounds fun

Diana - Sorry to hear about your ankle and that you have recovered enough to go on the elliptical.

As for me, I'm going ok. I wrote quite a bit here, but just to summarise, I'm down around 2 kilos from the high a month previous, but appear to be plateauing. Last week I did 3 weights sessions, one yoga class and 3 runs.

This week I rode to work yesterday and hope to twice more this week. Ran this morning and plan on 3 weights sessions, one intervals and one more run.

I am finding getting the running in with the extra weights is getting hard to balance and am having to move things around a little - eg the day after legs day I am in NO condition to run!

Ugh, last week was bad. I fell and tweaked my bad ankle so had to skip most workouts. I did do planks most days but that was it. Food was not great either.

This week, well I'm going to CA to see my folks for thanksgiving, so I'm sure it won't be the healthiest of weeks. But oh well. I did do an elliptical session today at least....

We celebrate Thanksgiving in October. I can't remember what I made. Must have been good. :) We are vegetarians so it would not have been turkey.
We are in Montreal for a month and loving it. We come here in November for some urban life. I have been going to Ashtanga Yoga daily. Very challenging. Also we have been doing lots of walking.

I've developed some adverse reactions to dairy. One is bloating so bad that I can't fit in a lot of my pants. I cut it out a couple days ago and the bloating is starting to go down. I'm reworking the Thanksgiving menu to be both gluten and dairy free. I've had issues on and off with dairy but this is the worst I've had it.

Anyone else adjusting the thanksgiving menu to make it healthier?
