Went to yoga 4 times this week - and one of the classes was Level 2 and full of ballerinas - which was quite tough for me. Body, mind and spirit feel great.

Our eating plan is on track. Feeling fit, cleansed and energized.

I have been exercising but cut back on the forum for a few holiday weeks.

Through Christmas I have increased my walking, lots of incidental exercise and played some tennis. I have tried to be sensible mostly with eating but not succeeded all the time.

I am walking a half marathon in May which is my next goal. I also plan to take up yoga again.

Eating wise I wish to focus on health and variety and good choices 80% of the time.

I got through the HIIT workout but wasn't able to get into some of my yoga poses because I'm still hurting from the Saturday workout. I thought that bring warmed up from HIIT would help with yoga, but it was the opposite. My legs & lower back are killing me.

Well, you know what they say, BC: slow and steady wins the race. Let those speed demons just do their thing and you do yours.

I've been walking a lot and eating healthy. Trying to cut down on calories to get rid of those Christmas cookies on my thighs, but only down a pound so far. I'll take it, though. It really helps that I'm keeping the food and exercise journal. If I know I'm going to be writing it down, somehow it makes me think twice before eating it.

My DD and I are going to the HIIT class tonight, followed by yoga. My plan is to just do what I can, at my own pace; not at warp speed.

ETA: I'm having a difficult time trying to get motivated to go today. That class just doesn't inspire me. I know I need to do cardio, but feel there needs to be a class for those of us who would rather have a slower but longer workout. I don't feel the need for speed.

BC, I sympathise, but please try not to be discouraged. You are doing amazingly well doing all exercise you are undertaking. If your HIIT class is anything like the "indoor cardio" class at our gym, which I can't cope with, you have my empathy!
MsMaven - glad you are getting better!

Shedev - well done

Diana - I can relate to the not eating enough thing - did it yesterday morning. In my case though I'm pretty sure it was carbs I didn't get enough of - after a short run and then riding to work (14.5 km) I had 2 spoons of cottage cheese for breakfast and a HB egg for morning tea - and that for me is NOT enough to feel like I could do well at a weights session at 1pm! Then today I overcompensated - had an egg at home before riding to work, and then some polenta porridge at work - but probably a bit too much of the latter considering I had a spin class at 11am. That wasn't a good workout either.

I'm also worried about my knees. My right knee, which is my stronger one, has been quite painful walking up stairs - just above the knee cap. The left one isn't pain free either. I think I need to go and see a physio.

I have been trying to go sugar free for 4 days - didn't make it on any day, but it did help me cut down.

Weight is around the same.

Excercise wise; last week I did 3 weights sessions, one spin class and one park run (no PBs this week - it was a very hot day)

I'm in the same boat, Ms. Maven. I went to what I thought would be a normal aerobics class at the gym Sat. morning. It turned out to be a HIIT class, & I barely made it through. I just can't move that fast, & my DH doesn't understand why I feel so discouraged. Even my 18-year-old DD, who runs and is very fit, could barely keep up. I went at my own slower pace and managed to keep going,, but would prefer to resume my aerobics DVDs at home. I have to get my DH to hook the DVD player to the living room TV so I'll have enough room to work out.

Finally getting over cold symptoms but don't have energy back. I've gradually begun with exercises again, but with the cold and rainy weather I'm staying inside and not moving around much. Although I've been eating a lot less than at the holidays I am still gaining. I did start keeping a food diary again as of yesterday. That is always the most important way for me to keep on track.

In the meantime, most waistbands are too tight. The next week should be much better.

Time to get back on the healthy habits bandwagon.

Workouts have been OK this week, although yesterday through a combination of factors I ended up inadvertently eating very little (with almost no protein) and I definitely felt it in my workout (the same intensity elliptical felt much harder). I am up to 3.5 minutes for the plank! (I decided to just go at my own pace rather than following the various plank challenges online - most of which I think ramp up too fast and make one prone to injury).

Food has been not great this week... either too much or too little food and definitely unbalanced. Will do better next week.

Glad you're feeling better, Shedev!

Carla, have you tried Magnesium lotion to help with your sleep? It's made a world of difference for me in the couple weeks I've been using it. According to my fitbit, I'm falling asleep very quickly and not moving until my eyes pop open 7-8 hours later. My normal M.O. is to take forever trying to get to sleep, toss and turn all night, and then hit the snooze button at least once before dragging myself out of bed. Real sleep has made a huge difference for me!

Also, on breaking the coffee at night habit...I have to break the glass of wine habit everytime I do a Whole 30 and/or an elimination diet. Willpower will eventually get you through the break in habit, but once I figured out that it's the "ritual" I crave, not the wine, I found it effortless to keep the ritual but ditch the wine. These days I'll still be holding a wine glass around 6:30, but it will have kombucha or club soda in it instead of wine. Don't miss the wine at all.

I had a good workout week. Six studio workouts and one long trail walk. I'm still doing an AIP version of Whole 30, but I've been a bit slack in the protocol for re-introducing items. Something has completely stuffed me up a couple days this week. I think it may be the cumin...so sad!

3 runs, 2 weight workouts, 1 swim, 1 yoga. All on the shorter side, since this was my first week back to work after a prolonged holiday vacation (and my awful long daily commute.). Put the wrong (heavier) plates on the bar for my squats, and my evil trainer (DS #2) insisted that I keep them on. He spotted me through 4 sets of 10!

I don't do resolutions, but have been trying to refrain from coffee in the pm to support better sleep hygiene. I'm still experiencing some waking, but not as much. I do crave a pm brew, but have been managing to deny the craving.

I need to commit to some races for this year, but have been procrastinating. There is lots of time to register for smaller local races, but some of the bigger races fill quickly. Need to get on this!
