Still trying to get acclimated to my schedule. I managed to run the minimum last week and hope to do the same this week. I don't know how you working moms keep it all together!

I have had a good week except I have a sore muscle in the middle of my left buttock. It might be an injury to a hamstring (I really hope not) or siciatia which is a nerve thing. I am going to a physiotherapist on Thursday who has been recommended by a fellow Yogi.
I am doing Yoga as gently as possible so as not to irritate above, some fitness classes and I am walking the stairs outside our house. They are part of the trail system. I am now up to 3 times. Going up is the biggy. I will try 4 times today.

Hats off to the plank people, I may join you in the challenge this week!

Chiming in for the Mg recommendation for preventing cramps. It can also be relaxing, and sleep-inducing, so take it before bed if you're sensitive to its effects.

On the workout front, I'm now quite weak at sumo deadlifts for no apparent reason, like my body has shut down. After three attempts at trying to lift what should be a moderately heavy but manageable weight, I decided to drop the weight substantially to 195lb and switch back to conventional deadlifts for a while. Personal record on squats yesterday, hitting 4x180lbs.

A good week, except for Saturday when I went to a party. The food was party food, high calorie, high fat, high salt. At least they had a tray of fresh veggies to munch on--I think I'm the only one who did though, other than DH. And wine, which I admit does serve as a "social lubricant." Mostly I've stayed away from wine since Aug 1.

Change in exercise is good--I'm building up core strength again.

Diana, I've been doing plank again after a few months. My goal is more modest: if I can work up to over a minute I'll be happy.

I've also started doing side planks. Strange to me is that on my left side I can get into the position easily and hold it for a count of up to 15. On the right side I couldn't get up at all at first, and then just barely. I am right handed and I thought my right side would be stronger. Not at all!

Today I am going shopping for a body shaper--I haven't had much luck with them before, but it's been a few years. I'd like something that will smooth out the waist area. If I keep up with side planks it may not be necessary though!

Yay, I'm glad I have company to plank with! ;).

My husband has a Fitbit and likes it a lot but I never got one because I just couldn't see myself wearing that wristband all the time! I have thought about getting the clip on one but currently I just use the step counter in my iPhone. It's pretty accurate but since I don't carry my phone with me all the time (like at work or home, I'll leave it on my desk) I think it's undercounting my total steps.

Shedev I hope you feel better soon. That has happened to me too

I think I'll start the plank challenge too. Though I have to confess that I joined some other fitness challenge at the beginning of the month and have already dropped out

I have to say that you are all making me want a fitbit!

Carla and Kiwigal - well done

Now to the admission - I had a terrible week last week. Not only no exercise (my excuse being that I was trying not to catch DD's cold) but really terrible eating, kind of sparked off by the lovely edible presents we were given last week, and continued by my cooking cupcakes with buttercream on the weekend., and not helped by the time in my cycle. My self control is getting really bad and my weight went right up again in to the 20 weeks pregant mode. I'm finding the urge to overeat things that I never did before, like icecream.

I wish I was like Angie and could just eat something small and sweet everyday!

Anyway it is a new week, the hunger is gone and I'm back to eating fairly normally. Have done one treadmill session and one spin class so far this week.

Big fitness week! 3 runs, 2 swims, 2 yoga, and a triathlon (sprint distance) to round out the week.

Nutrition was good, and I had 2 nights of better than usual sleep (don't know why, but grateful none the less.)

Kerry, I'm addicted to my fitbit. My husband gave it to me almost two years ago. I lost the original one on vacation back in April, fretted about it the entire time at the beach, and bought a new one the day I got back. It absolutely keeps me moving!

Yes to bananas! That potassium really works. Also, have a good soak in Epsom salts. The magnesium gets absorbed through your skin, and prevents those awful leg cramps, as well as soothing your sore muscles. It's good you're listening to your body! It will always tell you what it needs.

Carter, do you love the Fitbit?

I was great with my morning smoothie. I added protein powder to it too.

I've stuck to a 12-hour fast every day since Tuesday.

OK, I really need to get back on the healthy habits bandwagon. I've gained a few pounds recently and some of my clothes definitely feel tight around the midsection.

I've been pretty consistent about doing the elliptical at least 3X a week but it doesnt' seem to be doing enough lately. :( I've decided to try the 30-day plank challenge.. basically by the end of 30 days you are supposed to be able to plank for 5 minutes. I'm about a week in and can do about a minute. I'm fine with it taking more than 30 days to get to 5 minutes! I think the more important thing is just to get into the habit of doing it every day.

http://30dayfitnesschallenges......challenge/

You poor thing! I do get those sometimes, mostly in the middle of the night. Ridiculously painful. As you said, sometimes they can be stopped and sometimes not. You might look into your potassium intake. My dad used to eat a preemptive banana every morning. I don't eat bananas, but I do take a mineral supplement with potassium most days.

My goals for the week were to walk 70,000 steps and reach 420 "active minutes" on the fitbit. I ended the week with 97,393 steps and 630 active minutes. Not as strong as last week, but above my minimum target.

Food and exercise were both ok. Until this morning when I stretched my legs and got a knot in the calf muscle that still isn't gone. I'm limping around. Does this happen to anyone else? Sometimes I realize this is about to happen and stop the stretch in time but sometimes not.
