Just wanted to say that you're in our thoughts San - and that we're thinking of you.

We made some homemade chicken soup the other day, and it was really quite good, so am sending a batch of it your way.

Here's hoping you're back home now and that the treatments you've gone through worked, even though it must have been awful.

Here's to healing and feeling a whole lot better. Lots of love and prayers from your YLF friends.

My doggie, "Gus" (in my avatar photo) sends his love to Tori too.

Hi San

It's been a while since I've been around on the forum. However, when I read this, I just had to log in and write to let you know that I'm incredibly sorry to hear this news, what a terrible shock diagnosis must have been.

(I now keep wanting to type words of flowery prose because my mum was also diagnosed with anal cancer, so your news is particularly close to my heart. Thank goodness however, every time I get carried away my dictatorial inner voice keeps shouting "KP, JUST...STOP!" so I then I go back and delete what I've just typed. I bet you can just picture how this scenario must have appeared to the fly on the wall: Silence, periods of intense typing, followed by <grunt>, delete (AKA ferocious stabbing at keys), repeat X 20... ;-) In the end my sensible inner voice won ("Yay!", you say), so I'll keep my message short (from this point on).)

I am very glad to read that you have started treatment and I truly hope you are having more good days than bad days. I am thinking of you and am sending you lots of loving, positive thoughts and energy from across the ocean. I am also thinking of your family and am sending support to them.

Take care
x
KP

Tuesday night (30th) - just wanted to let you know that you're in our thoughts and I'm hoping things are going as well as can be, under the circumstances. Extra good and strong wishes sent your way - that the treatment(s) you've had to endure end up working beautifully to get you all healed up.

Not sure if you're still in hospital or at home yet - but no matter, just wanted to let you know that we're thinking of you. Extra hugs for you and your Tori.

I know this seems irrelevant and kind of silly, but have you started watching the HBO series "The Newsroom" at all? Just started up their second season, and while I hardly ever watch TV, this one is fun to watch. Just throwing that out there as a bit of a diversion and some entertainment to help get a break from the goings-on. Neat show, and worth looking up if you want to get your mind off things a wee bit.

Also - there's some fancy raspberry sorbet you might want to try - not sure what you can eat right now, but this stuff is non-dairy (vegan, non-GMO and non-all-kinds-of-other-stuff), and totally delicious. It's Talenti brand Roman Raspberry Sorbet. If I were nearby, I'd drop off a pint at your door!

Tried it when my DH brought some home last Valentine's Day. It's so good that you can only eat a few spoonfuls at a time, before putting the rest of the (admittedly small) container back into the freezer.

Not sure what flavours of ice cream/gelato/sorbet that you might like - but maybe your DH can run out and get you some Talenti? You can get it at Whole Paycheque (I mean Whole Foods). Of course, there are a kazillion other flavours as well.

link to all the flavours you can get:

https://talentigelato.com/our-products/

Ahem - whenever I felt sick, my Mom would get me ice cream or popsicles. So that's my line of thinking here in suggesting some nice sorbet for you.

Take care, and looking forward to hearing from you whenever you feel like posting.

San, it was so good to hear from you. I know from visiting a good friend during her stay in the hospital that those treatments aren't much fun, but I also know that they do work. Keep your spirits up, let the doctors do what they must do, and know that you've got a host of virtual hand holders here on YLF.

I just read your update too San - and it is wonderful to hear from you. Thank you so much for sending the update. There are a lot of us here at YLF who are thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome despite extremely tough circumstances. I really hope the radiation and chemo works beautifully so that you don't need the surgery after all.

Thursday evening - and sending lots of good thoughts, healing energy and very strong vibes to help you get through this spell of treatments. Sending tea and cake too, just in case it makes you feel a wee bit better.

Sandy, I just read your update and I am so glad you have settled and are in good spirits. I am also happy to hear that your family is able to be with you as you through the treatment. As we often joke around, the days following my grandma's diagnosis were both the best of times and the worst of times. It definitely brought us closer. I will forever treasure the memories that we shared in that room together, that is for sure.
With a little luck, your days will go fast and you'll soon be home. I am rooting for you!

So good to hear from you, Sandy, and to know that you're staying positive! Sending lots of healing thoughts your way. On a side note, my dad had colon surgery two years ago to have several tumors removed along with a large portion of the intestines. In his case, the colon could be reattached, and everything worked out really well. So while surgery is the last resort, there is still plenty of hope even if you have to undergo it. Stay strong!

Big thank you for all of the love and support given so generously here. I am so proud to be a part of this compassionate group. The kindness shown holds me up. I am spending a week in the hospital have full time of IV chemo drip and one a day radiation therapy while having blood counts monitored along with other parts. After the hospital stay I will have 3 weeks of daily outpatient radiation therapy with a weekly pill of chemo if I stay strong. The goal of this treatment is to avoid surgery. This cancer being at the end of the digestive tract it is best to avoid a life changing surgery but I have been assured by my loved ones that our lives plans will go on even if a few little changes need to be made in how things are done. Like I said though the first goal is to avoid surgery and I am feeling so positive. My husband and kids and grand daughter have been spending lot's of time with me here in my penthouse room looking at Mt Rainer and blue sky. Me watching the full moon at night. We have a wonderful ontology staff here at St Joseph's Hospital that networks with many others in our region including cancer research in Seattle. Thanks for the love and lift everyone. I'm feeling good.

San, it sounds like you are in for a rough week, but I know you'll hang in there and do what needs to be done. Your lively wit and enthusiasm were a big factor in my decision to join my first (and only) fashion forum. Stay strong and let us know when you are feeling better.
