We have a professional dress code which is why I can't put pink streaks in my hair. I need the headbands because my bangs aren't grown out enough to be pulled back and they fall in my face which is super annoying during exams. As Laurinda said, in the hospital setting, you are likely to be seen by people who might be adversely affected&nbsp;by such motifs. But en route to work and after work? There are many people facing the most difficult scenarios, and fashion should not trump sensitivity. Glitter, smiley faces, dancing puppies, etc. would be fine.
