With a skinny simple headband one statement accessory ( either necklace or earrings) would be great, but not both. I really like how you look with a headband btw.

i actually like the look of a headband with earrings. i think it makes a difference if the headband is plain or patterned though. with a patterned headband i would feel weird having any more ornamentation near it! but i think a solid colored headband and some delicate dangly earrings look very pretty and sort of boho, heh.

If you're going by a # of accessory from a corporate training on dressing for success or something like that I believe technically they do. Don't they say 8 or 11 items or something like that? I'd have to dig through some old verbiage I have at work (if I still have it). Wedding ring, tag for work (if you wear one), etc. all count as well I believe. It can all add up very fast (too fast for me most days). I just try to use my best judgement & not have on too much. For me, that means taking off one or 2 pieces or remembering I'm going to work & not out with friends for a few drinks.

My headbands are all skinny, except one that is 1", but that one is tortoise so it looks more subtle against my hair.

Hair needs a tiny bit of adjustment. I find that it takes longer for me to style the short hair than it did to style my long hair, which is not good. It does look better once it is styled though, and it lasts the whole day (unlike my long hair, which would fall flat and look like a mess by the day's end). I think I want it to be more of an inverted bob and have the layers a bit shorter in the back.

I'm only "very young" for a week more. After that it will be "somewhat young." Scary!

Yes, a headband is absolutely an accessory. What you wear with it really depends on the statement of the headband. Today, my good mate Laurel (39) was wearing a thin black headband. She has dark brown hair so the effect of the headband was subtle (there are loads of pictures of Laurel on Monday’s Swap post). She also wore a huge chunky necklace and pearl earrings. The look worked well.

But then I saw an older someone put it all together like Madonna on Desperately Seeking Susan – train smash. BUT! Maya, you are still very young and will get away with more. Do you love your new shorter crop?

I like the look of a headband with earrings. I also think a necklace is workable--but you may want to wear a delicate necklace with a bold headband and vice versa.

just chiming in to agree with the others! i particularly agree with LH - if the headband isn't a big statement headband, more like a simple band or even one with a small bow like you posted previously, earrings or a necklace would be fine. conversely, if you're doing a big necklace or wild earrings, maybe go easy on the headband details.

I think headband and dangly earrings is an adorable look.

I've been craving earrings lately myself. Must be something in the air!

I think headband plus earrings, or headband plus necklace, would both be fine. Just don't do all three.

Hmmm I think as a general rule, I don't see why not. I think I have seen that work on the runway and at events, but obviously it would depend on the specific pieces and any other detail/interest going on in the rest of the outfit.

I was wondering about this all week: Do headbands count as accessories, and if they do, does it mean I have to cut back elsewhere or stick to only small/subtle accessories? I am usually a necklace person because I like to fill in the space created by the v-necks and scoop-necks I wear, but I also have been thinking of getting some funky disc earrings, since they will actually show now. I know wearing big earrings and a big necklace is a no, but can I wear them with the headband? Is the necklace and headband OK?
