I haven't read the other replies but a 10 inch difference is an hourglass. I am one too, it's fun to dress but doesn't lend itself we'll to drapey outfits, IMHO

Hi, Mendy! The best way to tell body shape is through a picture, since it's mostly based on what a person looks like from the front. I know you can't post pics yet. Some people like to link to photos that they have posted elsewhere online, like at Photo Bucket. Or you can wait until you're an active member and then post.

When you do take the pics, it's best to wear tight-fitting clothing, like leggings and a tank top. You can cut your head off in the pic if you don't want people to know who you are. Also, it's best if you can take the pics with at least one of your arms straight down at your side—holding up the camera with both hands can change the body's silhouette and make it harder to tell body shape.

With a 10 inch difference between your waist and bust/hips, I doubt you are a rectangle. However, you need to show pics for us to help.

Hi! I'm new to the forums, although I've been reading the blog for awhile now. I'm confused about my body type. I believe I'm a rectangle, but I was reading the blogs on how to dress them and they keep referring to slimness and a small chest, neither of which apply to me :)

Height: 5'8"
Chest: 44"
Waist: 34.5"
Hips: 43"

Size 16 regular pants fit me, but I need a 1X top. So, perhaps I'm a plus size rectangle? Would the dressing guidelines still apply?

Thanks!
