So far I have found one website for wide shoes/sandals.
https://www.drewshoe.com/extra-wide-shoes.aspx
I thought of Bernie Mev shoes as they are woven so have some give to them.
Zappos carries them. May be worth a look.
Lots of good advice from Angie and my fellow Fabbers.

I empathize greatly with foot issues NewMe, and they compound as we get older. Hang in there! These look like cute outfits :)

First of all, #7 looks good! It's an on trend 2021 look. I suspect though, that you are not used to flats with skirts and dresses. My suggestion is to wear that type of flat in a low contrast to your skin tone. The black is high contrast, IYKWIM. The low contrast will look prettier, and lengthen the leg line.

Second, how about a refined fashion sneaker in a WW size? That's totally hip these days, and can look quite elegant. These come in WW:

https://www.nordstrom.com/brow.....hoes%2FSne

Third, if you get onto the Munro website, they will give you all the width you need.

Because being comfortable, at ease, and supporting my body would be my priorities, I would look at companies that specialize in shoes for people with issues, which eventually, is all of us, sooner or later, because some companies, like SAS, are aware that "orthopedic" does not always appeal, and are offering models that are more mainstream in appearance.

None of my business, but looking at the photos, I think you're being a little hard on yourself appearance wise. I am going to guess that most people don't notice, and those that do, are either aware of how things can change and have their own problems, or are too young to judge harshly for their ignorance.

Sorry I disappeared—it was my bedtime.
D’orsay work for me, but people who can’t wear loafers because they slip off their heels have that problem with d’orsay as well. I suggested them because you were asking about sandals that don’t have straps across the top and I can’t think of anything else that fits that description.

I sympathize with your plight. Re heel slippage with d'orsay flats and heels, I use transparent rubber heel cups inside the shoe to help keep my narrow heels from slipping out. They work really well. I think I bought mine from Amazon.

I can add my sympathies as well--as I get older I have more and more foot problems. During the pandemic I've spent a lot of money on trying to find some attractive decent shoes. I don't have your problem though. I do check out Barking Dog Shoes frequently.

I have narrow feet, but now I have bunions, so I can't help much with suggestions for wide feet. (I have other foot problems as well.) The last few months I've returned to SAS--a brand I wore a lot of at one time. I find that now they have more choice in colors. As much as possible I buy sandals with velcro straps so I can make adjustments during the day. I like Vionic, but I don't know how they are with wide feet.

Also I have more shoes than ever. One day I wake up and the shoe I've chosen doesn't fit right or is uncomfortable. Another day it will be perfect.

Good luck in your search. I'm ready to start going to shoe stores in person. I've lost track of how many shoes I've had to return in the last months of mail order. Keep trying!

I have no suggestions beyond what the others here have shared, but I do offer sympathy and support. Also the note that footwear (along with bras) is among the toughest wardrobe item to fit for most of us, so even if your challenges are more complicated than those of many others, you are not alone!

I like your dresses and skirts!

Also, if you tell us where you are located (i.e. which continent you're on) and how people tend to dress at your workplace, we'll be able to refine the search.

Hi,

I most definitely empathize with your situation. I also have swelling in lower legs and feet. I wear compression thigh-hi's (15-20 on one leg, 20-30 on the other). I get mine from Ames Walker - their own brand. They also carry the more expensive name brands. I tried knee-highs but they cut off too much circulation. Also, my doctor recommended the longer stockings for my situation.

Mostly I wear Abeo sneakers from The Walking Company that I bought at a mall shop pre-COVID, or else some Nike leather high tops. I'm able to get them on in the morning when I'm not too puffed up. But I've heard some decent things about SAS shoes. They have styles that go to WW. But yeah, most shoes that are designed for the proper fit of swollen feet are not very aesthetically pleasing.

I like all of your outfits. I'd suggest thinking about trying ankle boots - for the support, and so you don't get that "cut" across the tender top of the foot.

Just fyi, I've added these ankle compression socks on top of the compression stockings, at least around the house. They help a lot with the top of foot and ankle puffiness, which the stockings don't seem well designed to handle. The compression eases off at the top of the ankle, so you don't get that constriction at the calf.
https://www.ameswalker.com/pro.....20-30-mmhg

Edited to add: I wear the ankle compression sox and the thigh highs together. The sox over the thigh highs.

Feel free to message me if you have any tips to share!!!

NewMe, what kind of office do you work in—are the people there dressed formally, so that it would be very inappropriate for you to wear sandals?

In the offices I've worked in, any of those dresses or pants you've shown would be perfectly acceptable with either flats or sandals. Heels or pumps would not be needed. And no, heels are no longer required in order to be dressy.

I personally can't wear d'orsays; my heels slide right out of them.

DM has that issue, and has a big trouble with fitting shoes. The width is a challenge, but even more so, the height. In summer, finding sandals that you can adjust works, but not sure about winter.
Sandals are just fine for the office, at least here! We all wear them 6 months of the year.

Is it hard to keep the D'orsays on? Do your heels come out of those?
Is there a trick to keeping your heels from slipping, in general? This is an issue with one foot more swollen than the other.

The Dorsays are cute but very flat, would it work with the skirt? Isn't it true that to be dressy, you need a heel with a skirt? Or would it work? Not talking about casual wear - the skirt with a t-shirt, etc - but for business casual or business dressy, wouldn't you need some kind of heel?

ALso, what do you all think would go well with the white and black pants? Sandals generally aren't appropriate for business and since my feet are so prominent that might not be the best choice.

Don’t mean to hound you, but I’ve just noticed the compression socks comment. Nordstrom’s (& probably a lot of other stores) carry them in colors and patterns that are the opposite of hideous. You might want to Google something like “knee socks outfits summer 2021” or the like to get ideas on how to make them part of your look, so they seem intentional.
Looking forward to what you come up with!

ETA you might want to try wide legged crop pants that reach your calves with the socks. Loose-woven linen or organic cotton could be cool enough to be comfortable

NewMe, sorry you are having so much trouble finding shoes that make you and your feet happy….
have you looked at QVC? They sell a wide array of sizes with a variety of brands…when i filtered to 10WW i came up with 172 pairs..
https://www.qvc.com/shoes/wome.....t6f/c.html

I don’t know how you feel about sneakers, (both from a fashion and a fit perspective) but I think a white sneaker would be cute with a number of the outfits you posted (#1, #2, #11, #12 especially). And i like this taupe shoe, its covered yet the woven material looks like it would not be hot to wear, or if you want a basic pump, this one comes in a couple of colors, but I’m partial to the taupe because its a little different (sorry for some reason i cant add the last picture)

Hope this helped

Then maybe you’ll like some of these. I searched for flats and low heels—you might want to take out the heels altogether. I also didn’t search by size, because they offer several widths. By “heft” I meant that things like wedges, platforms, wide straps, and lug heels are in fashion now. Birkenstocks, for example, are having a moment.
I think Naturalizer has come a long way, and might make what you need. Franc Sartos are sleek looking, but also sleek fitting, probably too narrow. Don’t despair!

Thank you Stagaire, those are cute. Would have to figure out the international size thing. One of the problems is that almost nothing comes in my width. Might work.
And I do want elegant, not clunky. What is "heft"?

Thanks Jenni, thankfully they're not painful. Just swollen. Thanks for the tips.

The only other option is if I can reduce them down at all (not likely), I have to spend 18 hours a day (all waking hours) in matronly and hideously ugly knee or thigh high compression stockings in the 100 degree heat, under shorts. So I'd almost opt for the bulk.

I'm going to focus on losing weight and hope that helps somewhat.

Oh I do sympathise! Your poor feet look sore. Angie sometimes has blog posts talking about “high volume feet” which yours may count as with the swelling, and some Fabbers get advice from a site called Barking Dog shoes I believe which may help?

You have some nice outfits there. The black & white pattern with red is my kind of thing, and I like the color combo in 8.

#6 absolutely does not look fun. Can an ankle strap like 4 work if it’s looser, or are they off the table too?

I don’t think you need to worry about shoes being elegant enough—clunky is in! The reason the black shoe doesn’t work with that skirt, IMO, is that the shoe lacks heft.

Would a d’orsay style work for you? I’m in Germany, so please excuse the page I use for examples. I’m just trying to figure out possibilities. https://en.zalando.de/reco/AN6.....7008fcb09e

Hello all,
My feet are 9.5ww for sandals, and 10w(w) for closed shoes. I have lymphedema swelling also (currently being treated but can't be reduced further in the ankles).
I am looking for shoes to go with these example outfits that don't look like 1) they should be worn with a bathrobe 2) belong on the hiking trail 3) don't look dowdy, old or matronly 4) have heels that are stylish, but low - not deadly weapons.
I live in a hot climate and have some cute shorts outfits, casual shoes and sandals. But can't find anything stylish for dressy. It's too hot for boots and sometimes even long pants. Esp. with hot flashes.

Also, anything that has straps across the top of the foot (toe is ok though) no matter how cute, won't work, because the swelling is too severe. So often the straps don't fit, and anything that constricts makes the swelling worse. Everything I wear looks like a stuffed sausage.

I did find some cute shoes at Torrid, but still need versatile dress shoes that work. Ordered some black pumps last week but they don't fit quite right so I'm working on that.
The blue sandals have a strap that won't fit.

***I would NEVER wear those black flats with that skirt - just took the picture to show you how bad my feet look in shoes and how bad my skirts look with flats. Same with the blue shoe. ***

Also, these outfits are just examples - just to show you the particular skirts, pants etc. If you think anything is hideous and should not be worn please feel free to say so. haha I won't hate you.

Helllllppp Thank you =)
